Walleye, I feel, is the best freshwater fish to eat! I LOVE WALLEYE! Crappie are a close second. But they are still second to walleye. Everything about walleye is awesome. The firm, flaky, white meat just can't be beat in my opinion. I do like the fight that the hybrids put up though. The white bass/striper hybrids, called "wipers" in most places, put up a great fight for their size. Even though they are usually bigger than the typical smallmouth bass, they come in second for fighting ability compared to a smallmouth bass. Smallmouth are the hardest fighting freshwater fish in my book. The 20 inch smallmouth that I caught in Canada definitely fought harder than any 20 inch wiper that I ever caught. Great video by the way Cole. Good selection of fish caught. Way to go brother!

I am a huge STL Cardinal fan, living in Ventura County, Calif.... I watch every game and it has been a blast to see Albert go on a tear of late. Hope he can pass ARod and if he gets to 700, that would be a great bonus! Goldy has been the best player in the league all season. He will most likely be the MVP and has a shot at a triple crown. Nolan A is having a great season as well. Management made some good moves to bolster the pitching staff. What a fun year! I just stumbled across this video, good stuff. Keep your head up and keep the adventures coming! I have about 30 years experience fishing rivers, lakes and ocean in NC, the absolute best bait for huge catfish and the occasional striper in the rivers is live freshwater eel if you can find a source. They are the most active, and they will never come off a hook. The ones i use are about a foot in length and ill use a whole one on a big rod and a 2 inch cut of one on smaller rods. Also great for bush hooks and trot lines. Givem a try, i promise you wont find anything better!!! Good luck out there guys!!

Cole if you really want to focus on those large fish, maybe you need to go with a much larger bait. They may eat your shad, but you need plastic or hard baits the size of Jays Trout. Always a good time!

Best way to id Whites from Hybrids...the stripes at the tail. White bass only have one stripe reaching the tail, hybrids usually have four or more heavy black stripes reaching the tail.

The bite's been a lot better than expected lately, at least around here. I caught a 7lb-ish melanistic gar out of the creek with all the canes on Thursday; another fisherman saw me land it and agreed on its size. Absolutely gorgeous fish, which I released unharmed.

Try fishing for those large stripers at night we used a 7in rebel back in the 60s and 70s in the congaree river south carolina and we caught fish 20 to 40lbs and wind the lure slow we would start fishing about 10pm
