They actually are super good to eat and any size as long as it is legal in your area

Best size for bass to eat is the 2 to 2 1/2” size. Keeping 2 or 3 will not hurt the fishery as long not from small pond or lake!

And bass are a dime a dozen here in Michigan and perch and walleye just taste better. But your right proper harvesting is key; and lacking round me.
