That coral snake rod is about the neatest thing I have seen. The paddlefish is an odd looking creature. There are supposidly some in Texas, but I have never seen them.

I feel like fish with that tougher texture lends itself to fish soups, stew, and curry’s as they can handle more time cooking

The paddles you caught are much smaller than what we catch in Montana. The smallest I've seen are 30 to 40lbs. The biggest I caught was 86lbs, but they get bigger

When your snagging for scale fish take a whetstone and take the needle sharp point off your hooks and will slide in between the scales you won't miss as many fish try to push a hook through a carp scale it works better for suckers too

Considering the American paddlefish is classified as vulnerable (VU) on the IUCN Red List, really surprised you can keep them. In TX It is illegal to catch, kill or harm paddlefish.. Looks like a fun day even though I hate catching carp.

Liked the Asian carp better than the spoonbill...? Hmmm..everyone has a different taste but something is very wrong here..im sure you've seen the comments about a buttermilk marinade an frying it..thats excellent..and also try a brine for it as well..but fix it just like you would do your buffalo ribs or fry any other fish..hot n fast..but in 100% good cornmeal ! It is awesome good and I'm sure y'all will find a great way you and yours would enjoy it. Thanks for a very good video, good work. 😁

@@justingulick6747 yep! Most of the live carp in restaurants and markets are living in clean, aerated tanks, with constant inflow of fresh water, so pretty tasty. I lived in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, at the base of the Tibetan Plateau. The carp lived in the clean, cool glacial flow rivers in the Chengdu Basin, and were good. I’m sure if you caught them 1,500 miles downstream, near Shanghai, they wouldn’t have been nearly as good.
