Thank you for citing the light type so I can get an LED. I have been searching for hours!

Thanks a lot for including the bulb in the description-I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to find something that would fit online! You’ve got my subscription.

Thats a very good upgrade. I have a bt200x and I have used several of your ideas and suggestions. Your videos are top notch, enjoy them. Im 70 years old and Im having a great time working on this little bike and riding. Im on to the headlight next, thanks and see you on the next video.

Thanks for the kind words, John! They mean the world to me! I'm working on some good stuff for the ol' BT200X for the next video

Great upgrade! Doing same tomorrow with mine. Had great torque before taking it camping last week with the new TC and 60 tooth rear sprocket...after market performance exhaust fail as the muffler just deteriorated on rhe first day....wonder if i damaged the hisun engine 😕?
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Yeah, those stock mufflers are just stamped metal with not much meat to them. I'm sure your engine is just fine!

I did something similar except I rounded my console (half moon shaped) to eliminate sharp edges and for a clean OEM look. Wish I could upload a photo for you to see.

Just catching up qith your channel now 0 new SUB!!! I LOVE the bt200x and want to build or buy one in the near future. The tach was a great idea along with the LED light! Can't wait to see what's next!

Thanks! Also thanks for the comments that you leave! I really appreciate them. I've been riding motorcycles all my life but am having a blast with the BT200X. I love hearing from people with more experience than I have with them!

Very informative! Do you know if the same led bulb will work on the B200r?
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Stuart! It should work, but I'd definitely check the bulb number in your headlight first to match it to an LED.

It's been a year or more now since you put that video out. Are you still running the same LED or have you replaced it. I guess I'm asking is how long does it last.
@wetcoastfab3 ай бұрын
Hey Glen! Yup, I'm still running the same LED bulb a year later. I'm thinking I want to add a bit to it now to smooth out the voltage from the engine's coil so it doesn't flicker quite so much at idle.

I also use a drill battery and billet flywheel

I went to the Amazon link and bought the pack of two LED’s. They are listed as P15D low / high beam. Neither work in the Coleman bt200x. I double checked them with a 12volt battery, they work with the base as the ground itself and when you touch the positive lead to one of the two contact spots on the bottom it works, one contact is high beam and the other contact is low beam. The original Coleman light is wired without a “base” ground and the two bottom contacts are the power contacts for AC power. It seems that the new LED bulbs are for DC power with a base ground?

That's an awesome upgrade for a mini-bike. It's always good to see where you are going :-) I have various e-bikes. Always trading them with other people. It's fun to try different bikes. For lights I have a DC-DC converter which converts the battery voltage down to 12V. Then I can use any type of 12V LED lamp as a headlight and taillight. I don't trade my lighting system and keep it on one bike which I use at night. I will send a link to a picture in the next comment since I am not sure if comments with links can be posted.
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Robin! Can the DC-DC convert also bump the voltage up from less than 12v, or is only downwards? I know a buck converter can increase voltage, but only increase it.
@robinbrowne5419 Жыл бұрын
@@wetcoastfab The DC-DC converter can only decrease the voltage. It is a buck converter. The input voltage can be anywhere from 18V to 56V and the output is always 12V. A boost converter can increase voltage.
@jessyhall9464 Жыл бұрын
Also they are aimed so low for hill climbing if you are on a really steep hill the downwards angle helps but if your not doing hillclimbs at night I think you should be fine
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Agreed! My riding area is pretty mountainous but also lots of flat out forest service roads, so having a higher beam and a wider pattern helped a lot

How did you get it to work on ac current off that coil?
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Hey Dustin! Those bulbs aren't polarity sensitive. I've tested them with positive/negative reversed and they still work. I expect they have a bridge rectifier built into them to allow for that.
@barrickent1848 ай бұрын
Go to Auto Zone and get a LED capacitor. The capacitor will stop the flickering at idle. The lighting coil is separate from the ignition coil.
@wetcoastfab8 ай бұрын
I'm planning out a small LiPo battery/LED light project that will also do that, as well as provide a bit of light without the engine running
@barrickent1848 ай бұрын
You most likely will need a regulator rectifier between the output of the lighting coil and the battery. If the existing light is LED then it will have a rectifier. Remove that one and feed the lights from the battery. Install a toggle switch to turn the lights on and off. Check to be sure it has the current capacity to handle the output of the lighting coil. Also check the output voltage of your lighting coil. Most will output 12v or more.

Got mad and put a LED fog light from a ATV on a front of mine and it's a wall of light have a separate Craftsman v20 battery running it

Nice, Joel! I'm working on a small rectifier circuit and battery to draw a little power out of the stock headlight for use when the revs are low or the engine's off

Any time I put a LED bulb in my coleman, it blows the light on the first ride. Any suggestions?
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
That's weird! Do you have a voltage meter that will measure A/C voltage? Check to see what your coil is putting out for voltage. The P15D LED bulbs are usually good for up to 36 volts or so

Is anyone offering a aftermarket headlight assembly for the bt200x
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
No one that I know of! Maybe I should start manufacturing them ;-)

That's strange, I have 2 Colman bikes, and both have stock bulbs in them, and they're both extremely bright... When riding 3/4 to full throttle, I can see 50 yards in front of me easily... Also have plenty of adjustment to raise it way way way higher than needed...
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that feedback! I think there's a lot of variance in the build quality of these bikes. Definitely don't look at the frame welds too closely ;-)

Add a battery to the mini bike for continuous high brightness level of brightness of the led light bulbs output.

I've been thinking about something similar: a rectifier and small battery just to provide juice to the LED when the RPMs are low

Where does one purchase these led bulbs. No parts store has them, or Walmart Ether. Be nice to know what the part numbers are, so you order the right ones Also, you might rethink your dash bracket, especially if you travel over 40 mph. We call crap like that nutgrabers😮.

Your coil (spark) and your charging coil are two completely separate systems ... so no you won't have more power for spark .....lol
@wetcoastfab11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, Bill! You're probably right: I've not had the flywheel off before on this engine so can't confirm the number of coils. I've worked on other similar small engines and they quite often have just one coil for everything.
