crazy how different these bikes are my BT200x tops out at 30mph and all i did was cut off the throttle screw. I'll have to get the tac you mentioned to see what RPMs it is doing.
@wetcoastfab9 ай бұрын
Right? 20mph out of the box was the best I could get. I'm planning a small dyno build so I can do real-world testing on these engine mods that isn't just by seat-of-the-pants feel. Thanks for the comment!

Awesome 👍 When I was a kid back in the 70s we all had mini-bikes. Most of them had 3.5HP Tecumseh engines. We used a paperclip to bypass the throttle spring and get about an extra 5 mph. We never knew about the jetting though (Probably a good thing.) Cheers from Canada :-)

Love it, Robin! That's so cool! I was too poor to have a mini bike as a kid but now I can afford one, I'm going to town! Returning your cheers, also from Canada! 🍁🇨🇦

I've heard of ppl messing with the springs and weights in the TC to get it to engage at lower RPM
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
I used to do that with a street scooter I had. May try the same thing with this TC, thanks!

i know i'm a year late but i used a left hand drill bit and extractor to remove the tamper proof jet
@wetcoastfab3 ай бұрын
Never too late, and thank's for the comment! I've seen people use left-hand drill bits to pull out sheared-off bolts too; I bet it'd work great on the jet as well, although I don't have any left-hand bits. I should get some.
@stevenkinnison8044 Жыл бұрын
I used an easy out to remove the jet from my stock Coleman carb. Also if you remove the spring on your throttle cable where it connects to the linkage it will get you more rpm and I always zip tie the governor spring and remove the throttle stop screw.
@stevenkinnison8044 Жыл бұрын
I had the exact same bike with the exact same setup with the factory throttle return spring removed and the throttle stop screw removed with the governor spring zip tied and got 50mph out of mine.

You can drop to smaller rear sprocket. You'll loose a little torque but gain top end. I think factory on those coleman 's os 50 tooth, drop to a 48.
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info, Chad!
@Deucealive75 Жыл бұрын
A 2 tooth change is nothing and will not make much of a difference. In fact that change may slow the bike down a touch. With stock engines and a torque converter the Coleman 200's need a 60 tooth sprocket.

Put a 37T on my CT200U EX, along with a couple other mods. I'm getting a max speed of 43mph @ 5200rpm. I don't keep it at that rpm for more than a couple seconds. Mostly cruise at 36mph@ 4700rpm.

I just bought my Coleman bt200x from Facebook with a governor delete, upgraded muffler, and a torque converter, and it somehow goes about 50mph, anybody know why mine goes so fast? all the videos I have seen they only get up to like 30-40.
@juntjoonunya92169 күн бұрын
@@gtamemegod1239 not from the governor delete mostly? I thought I saw it increased 10mph then with the torque converter maybe another 6-8mph?

Nicely presented film my friend however you might consider buying a metal jock strap if you're going high rpms with thr atock rod and f wheel😢

LOL! Right? Not to mention the metal instrument panel I made! I'm going to design and 3d print a new panel, as well as get a billet flywheel before getting too crazy with the RPMs

movie the spring to the first hole
@Deucealive75 Жыл бұрын
Yes. There are three holes close together on the governor arm. There is also a hole in line with those three but out further on the governor arm. That outside hole is the one to use. But he will still not get to higher RPM because the bike will top out before it ever gets anywhere near max governed RPM. Here his bike topped out at a lower RPM than stock governed RPM.

I have a problem with my mini bike bt200x. When the motorboat runs, gasoline leaks out of the gas tank cap. I already changed the cover but it is still the same, what will it be?
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
I have a similar problem with the same engine on my air compressor - it vibrates so much that the gasoline just gets splashed up against the gas cap and weeps out from under the cap. I think doubling up on the rubber gasket under the gas cap might help.
@Deucealive75 Жыл бұрын
There's still something wrong. I have watched dozens of these Coleman torque converter videos and never seen anyone get less than 34 MPH with a Coleman 200 and a torque converter. I have also experienced this. While I was waiting for parts for my engine build I put a 100% completely stock 196 governed to 3600 RPM on my Coleman with a torque converter and ran at least 35 MPH. It was a dog after the belt shift and took too long to get to top speed as expected. A bit more engine and much better gearing takes care of that.
@wetcoastfab Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that! I'm feeling the same way. I've got a 1983 Honda XL250 that was 22hp from the factory, and is only 52cc larger. There has to be something up with this engine, I'm thinking

Why doesn't anyone here go a little fatter and safer on inital jetting then slowly work leaner???
@wetcoastfab4 ай бұрын
I did! I have a 100 jet in there, which is pretty fat for a 196cc engine, and I have the needle on the lowest clip setting, so it allows the most fuel possible. Thanks for the feedback!
@Deucealive752 ай бұрын
@@wetcoastfab A 100 jet in a VM22 clone carb? That's a pretty lean jet for a 196. One thing that is easy to check is if the air filter is too restrictive. Take a run with the air filter off and see if anything changes. After the run look at the spark plug. One of my carbs came with the cone style air filter that was too restrictive and caused a rich condition. Ran much better with both no filter and a foam style filter. I'm at around 700 ft elevation. My stock 196's like a 120 main jet. My built 196 uses a 125 main. Let's say your filter is restrictive. If it runs good and the plug looks good you could run it that way but you are not getting the most out of the carb.
