What size bolt for the shaft mine is missing

There is some bad info in this video. For one do not spray the clutch drum with carb or brake cleaner like he did, he got it on the oil-lite bushing in the drum. The solvent is so hot it leeches out the lube in the brass bushing.. The bushing is designed to soak oil in. Spray the cleaner on a rag and carefully clean the drum, avoiding the bushing. Okay next, you can use grease but it won't last and soon you'll have to break it down to re grease. Instead use 3 to 4 drops of 30 w oil on bushing. Put it right where the snap ring is. You can do this without removing clutch from bike. When clutch starts grabbing at idle and squeeling noises are present, oil the bushing. Spend your time riding not tearing clutch down, only tear down once in a while for cleaning. All of the quality made clutches recommend 30 w oil, not grease.

@@ashleyhitomi6394 Hi, it is probably best to just use WD 40 as a cleaner on shoes drum etc. Please no grease.
@DS-ss7vl3 жыл бұрын
@@beaubrummelmotorizedbicycles Why would you put WD40 (Lubricant) on a clutch drum or the shoes?
@beaubrummelmotorizedbicycles3 жыл бұрын
@@DS-ss7vl According to Hilliard race clutches, the WD 40 is the safest to clean drum and shoes. They claim the brake cleaner cleans it to good, you need just a slight amount of slipping as you reach full engagement speed. Otherwise the shoes grab and you don't get a smooth take off. WD 40 really isn't a lubricant, it stands for water dispersal formula 40, it does slightly lube, but evaporates away. It is a old go kart race trick to give the clutch a quick shot of WD 40 to slightly decrease the co efficient of friction for smoother clutch operation.

The clutch is put on dry in the factory with no grease on the clutch shaft so cleaning isn’t going to do much for the clutch. Go get some multi purpose grease from the auto parts store and it’s only 3 dollars a can. Then what I do is get a paint brush of some sort and paint the grease on the shaft so it gets on there evenly without any clumps

The clutch in this video appears to be designed for a 3/4 inch crankshaft. My CT200 came with a 16mm crankshaft. The clutch is different from the one in this video. The area that the clutch hub rides on has a caged bearing. I cleaned it and packed it with grease much like the wheel bearing in a car. This clutch design is much better than the clutch in the video that uses a bushing instead of a caged bearing. A caged bearing beats a bushing by a mile in most applications. I was not happy that my engine came with the smaller 16mm crankshaft but do like the clutch design with the caged bearing.

What I described above works fine after doing multiple rides, many at slower speed where you are on and off the clutch and it heats up. Never used a drop of oil. I only got a little splatter onto the clutch drum because I used a little too much grease. Works great.

Is it the lack of grease on the clutch shaft that causes a sort of whirring noise when you let off the throttle? Or is that normal? Also I used a small drop of oil around the clutch bolt previously, which I believe lasts for a single ride. I've had one of these for several years, sat in the garage, and would like to make use of it. I'm in the UK. I'd imagine the wheel bearings aren't greased either, not sure if these are sealed or you can grease them. I'm considering the OMB warehouse torque converter kit, but would be happy to get the best performance out of the stock setup for now. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
@Deucealive759 ай бұрын
See my posts above in this thread. Does your clutch have a bushing or a bearing? If a bushing you will need to oil it after every ride when it's hot or service it like he does in the video. The wheel bearings are sealed bearings but you can carefully remove the seal and pack more grease in them. I don't know what is causing the whirring noise.

The flyweights will slip when they contact the clutch drum instead of sticking to it and moving the bike forward, they'll spin around in there and you won't go anywhere and they'll probably do damage to the drum.
