Nice video. Enjoyed it. Also enjoyed seeing your dog Hunter. Good to have a hiking companion. I have an old peak1 400 I used for years. Then switched to the msr whisperlite. Also a great stove. But have to bring the cookset separately or maybe store the stove inside the cookset.

Years ago i had a 550B, and i used it all round. In the Winter at -30C, my firepaste froze. The stove still lit using gas as a primer.

Thanks for the advice, good to know they fit in the 14cm Zebra pot. I do like this stove, its one of the stoves I've had the longest as is still one of my favourites!

It's a fairly rugged stove that I would have no concerns about packing for hiking. Not the lightest but factor in it has the built in fuel tank. I would buy a spare generator which you can find online. There is an aluminum case that Coleman made for it but they are hard to find-check ebay but you may find a lightweight pot it fits in or put it in a padded case for extra protection when stuffed in a pack.

Good deal - thanks for posting this. How "rugged" an d"packable" for a multi-day hike would you rate this stove? I am considering buying a new one, old stock.

Your Coleman 550b will also fit perfect in the stainless 14cm Zebra billy pot, but the Zebra nesting dish/bowl does not fit with the stove in there. I have the older Peak 1 version of the 550b(same stove as yours but silver) and I like it so much I just bought a second one off Ebay, barely used for $25. These are great stoves, and if someone at Coleman reads this, please bring back the 550b stoves! I don't care what name they give it this time, or what color they paint it :-)

502 is old. This one is newer so easier to find parts

Can parts still be found for this like the plunger? I believe the generator is the same as the 533?
