Nicely done! All good info. My only additional comments are to start pumping again as soon as it lights to keep the atomization for instant lighting at it's best and fastest for a quick warmup and less yellow. I think you may be cranking things down too tightly with the fuel cap and the pump stem. That can lead to premature wear of the sealing surfaces of stem and seat in the pump and premature failure of the cap gasket. These are well engineered and just snug is plenty tight. I commend you for actually lighting it and letting it do its thing. So many people want to turn it to low when the yellow flame jumps up. THAT IS THE WORST THING TO DO because it reduces the fuel air atomization and only prolongs the warmup. Try adding more pressure right after it lights and see what you think. Again good job!

An Oldie but a goodie...I have 3 of these Peak 1, 550b stoves set up and dedicated for Kerosene to use when camping with Kerosene Lanterns. Great little stoves.

Extremely informative. Thank you so much. Now I'm confident I can use mine with kerosene instead of trying to find Coleman fuel, which is difficult/expensive where I'm at.

I have a Coleman Feather 442 and it's my goto stove. They're a bit heavier but absolutely bomb-proof. I've been using mine for 14 years all over the mountains of Norway in every kind of weather.

I also like the way it has a leveling ring between the body and his feet

Enjoyed this run-through. One thing I wonder, though, is why do so many people wait until they've turned on the fuel _before_ striking the match and having it burning ready?

I got mine out today to try it again. The fuel is old so I don’t know if that’s the cause of not being able to turn it up to high without the flame going yellow. I’ve been using cleaning fluid as Coleman fuel was hard to get at one time in Australia. I might see about getting some Coleman fuel to if it burns any better.

Hey there! Really enjoyed this video and thanks for putting this together! Great instructions and presentation! My first stove was actually this identical model! An since then, I’ve picked up a few other different models! Really enjoy working on them and using them on outings! Question though, for the kerosene generator, just wondering how would I go about finding one of those, can they be ordered from the coleman website or old Coleman parts? Also enjoy the old lanterns as well :). Cheers!

What is the best way to deprusserized the stove to store it without making any fuel split?

Cannot remember what fuel was used last in mine! Is it best to empty it out fully and refuel? Is kerosene ok and can paraffin also be used? Please let me know. Thanks. :)

I would empty the fuel out, and add new fuel. Fuel can, and will go bad after months of sitting with oxygen.

I need new knob for mine as it leaked fuel and caught fire around the knob and melted it. Not available from Coleman in Australia.

I have the same model but if I let go of the pump hole when it's unlocked the air escapes. Also, I think the bottle holding the fuel gets too hot when it's running. How much heat can the bottle take?
@chrslefty6 ай бұрын
You need to clean the check valve. There's a little ball /bb in there that gets gummed up if fuel is left in the tank for a long time.

Can you use gasoline as well ?
@techguy9023 Жыл бұрын
It can be used occasionally but will cause it to plug up the generator tube if used often. Coleman fuel doesnt have all the additives that regular gas has. Use low grade gasoline if you have to
