Outstanding tip. I have a few generator springs that are being stubborn and will give this method a try!

Thanks D ! it really does help , both methods work !!!!! Hope you are havingva great weekend 👍

Very Clever, I made a punch that pushes the spring out from the top after you've removed the tip that is. I like this Idea better though because you are less likely to bend or damage the spring. Thanks for sharing.

After the 'bulb' flare shape on the spring, it funnels down to the small spring size and terminates. When I removed my spring, that last bit of small-shaped spring broke off. Will that make any difference all cleaned up and with new cardboard?
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
As long as its just a small bit missing 1/4 inch you think ???, 🤔
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
Can you stetch the sping a bit to retain the length ?
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
I think it will be fine as long as we are talking a small piece

@@doinsngoins My only concern from a design standpoint was since the smaller spring broke off from the 'bulb', it will no longer cradle the cleaner needle shaft. My cardboard sleeves come in today so I'll stretch the spring for what broke off and put everything together and try. I'll report back.

@@doinsngoins Yes, right at a 1/4" or less.

Have you ever tried to clean a 285 or 295 generator. There is a crimp on the lower end of these preventing removal of the inner parts. Just curious. Love your videos BTW.
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
Well thank you Very much I greatly appreciate that , I must not have as I would remember, So is there no tip to remove at the end of the generator?
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
Are you trying to work on one now?
@mdenny6044 Жыл бұрын
I am actually NOT working on one currently but just noticed that you cannot take them apart like most of the other older model lantern generators. I do believe the gas tip can be removed but I haven’t tried to remove one.
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
@mdenny6044 Ok, I understand. I'm pretty certain if the tip can come off, the generator can be rebuilt. I'm gonna have to take a look myself. I'm really interested in this now. Have a great day, Be safe

I make the tool to take them apart, the 295 etc gen.

Just so happens I have a couple of springs laying on my lantern vice that are about 10" long now...hahahahaha Wonder how that happened? Do you replace that little brass filter in the tip? I usually don't... just wondering
@doinsngoins Жыл бұрын
No , I dont bother , that little wad of mesh up in there ? , no I pitch it , the heat quench is still king but this does work!

Do you ever replace the paper inside the generator? If so, how to do that?
