Ed, thanks for taking the time to show this tent. Your detailed review along with the other videos showing the quick set up make me sure this is the one I would buy. Looks like an excellent product and I liked the way you showed the actual use of the zippers, instead of just talking about them, etc. Very helpful information.

Great review! I recently purchased this tent on line. It's green but I'm not too concerned about the color. This is an excellent tent. Very good construction and materials. It really is easy to setup and break down. I'd recommend purchasing the rain fly just in case of a downpour. Enjoy your tent. I know I will. Thanks!

I was looking at this tent for me and my little boy, he'6 and loves camping with Daddy :) I saw a LOT of reviews where they show you how easy it is to put up and take down (it's called an easy-up, I figured it would be easy) but nothing on the interior of the tent or how roomy it really was. Till your video that is :) So I bought the tent today and while I have not used it yet, I am sure I will be happy with it. Thanks Ed, great review :)

Very informative video. I was looking to get the Ozark but after your video I think I will go with the Coleman. Only thing that bothers me is there is no rain fly.
@daddyfunn10 жыл бұрын
The rainfly thing is not an issue to me as the material of the Coleman is thicker than the OT version although the OT comes with the rainfly because it's top is mesh. My only thing is that on either brand the windows are so high up, that while lying down you can hardly benefit from a possible breeze. Good thing about that thicker 1 piece design of the Coleman it's my choice in the Fall.
@daddyfunn11 жыл бұрын
H Mass I viewed your channel & saw that were really researching Instant tents, so you probally already know this. The steep walls allow more inside living space, the windows start at the 3' hieght which dont allow for good breeze when lying on the low air mattress. I mentioned OT (Ozark Trails) theres is lighter material & thiner poles & the roof is mesh which all allow more venting, the coleman being a one piece is a better choice for lower temps. 4 man is only 5' high. 6 person use 4' long bag

I noticed that this video (it's the most helpful review I've seen for this tent) is from almost three years ago, and I'm wondering if you still have this tent and if you could update your review after three years of use. Thanks for this video....I might be sold on this tent.
@daddyfunn9 жыл бұрын
Hi this tent is just like when I came home from the store with it. But don't let that be misleading. I go camping approximately 20 - 40 times per year. I own about 16 tents so I only use each tent once or twice per year, so they seldom worn out or used up. I go to this tent during my cooler camping trips as it thicker (more material thread count) that my other3 season choices. I hope this will help you out.
@itsahellofaname9 жыл бұрын
+Ed Wilson Thanks very much - you've helped me a lot in choosing a tent. I'm getting burned out from looking at so many videos and reading so many reviews on a million different brands. I keep coming back to this one, and your video pretty much sealed the deal. Thanks again!

+Ed Wilson Just a quick update - my Coleman Instant 6-Person Tent got here today, so of course I went right out and set it up, and I love it. Honestly, it almost went up accidentally, just by handling the poles...it was so quick. The only difference with mine is it doesn't have a back vent at the bottom - mine just has a tab you can stake down to (I guess) hold the wall out more securely. I laid a 12x14 tarp over the top and used guy lines to drape it down snug over the tent, and it looks like I could leave the windows halfway down in a rain and still be fine. So I got this tent....and it's all your fault (thanks!).

+itsahellofaname - LOL don't know if I should say I'm sorry or congrats. I do enjoy helping make the right choice, the shelter is 2nd most important thing on a camping trip.

Hi Ed. Great review! And great work on answering all questions below. No one can think of every detail and question for a review and it's great how you've been replying over the last few years. My questions are: Do you personally think it's important to have the rain-fly bought for an average rainfall lasting six hours? Second I live in Newfoundland, Canada and you will find one night camping could be 24 degrees celsius (high humidity) and the next night 7 degrees celsius making it a challenge when shopping for a tent. What is the max and lowest temperatures you recommend this for. I do fully understand that this will be a personal opinion and not something anyone should take 100% as fact (Humility and so many other factors apply including the height of the air mattress with the windows). Thanks Ed and keep up the great work!
@daddyfunn8 жыл бұрын
David, thank you for observing that common fact, no tent is perfect for all conditions. Camping is fun for most "I LOVE IT" and shelter is highly important on a trip Yes I think you should have a rain fly it's the top of the box? I've never needed it for this tent but then again I don't have the conditions that others might. I mostly don't go when rain threatens my trips. I had to compare C* to F* to know how to answer properly 45 - 75 degrees for me, being that this one is a one piece designed it is my go to tent for cool weather. Along with a small heater. Thank you for watching David.

Kevin Jenkins Enjoy yours Kevin. I know of (4) makers of instant tents. I think Coleman makes the better for early spring & late fall, mid summer might find it a bit warm because of that slightly heavier material & one piece design. Which I like, ENJOY!!!

good one! of course there's lot's of professional-review-stuff missing (about warranty, actual weather-condition testing, etc.) Have you actually poured a bucket of water on top and saw how it looks like inside afterwards? have you tried to actually lay 6 people inside (as the name implies) and see if they fit? but still the close-ups and some of the details were really useful. Thanks.
@daddyfunn8 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you are complimenting or criticizing, you are kind of all over the place with your comment (A) I am not a professional I just like camping and (B).speaking of a warranty puts me in the line of liability and video document that "I said this or that" (C) weather conditions? do you read the other comments, A thousand people buy a tent 500 say its great and 500 say it leaks.& really have never had BUCKET water drops during my camping trips. (D) 6 P or Person is an industry gauge that suggest there are (6ea.) 24' x 72" spaces of floor foot print. I enjoy letting people who care to watch, watch! Simply a personal look at the ones I own. Mr.Shneor I can only suggest that you show me by making the video that you feel is better, after all that's 1 of the 2 reasons I make an tent video is because I don't find one to suit my questions. etc....enjoy camping!!!

Yes Coleman does sell a separate rain fly for this tent, if you happen to be in a area that rain is a force to deal with, then by all means. Invest, as I would in certain areas of the country.

Ed - excellent review! I've been researching instant tents for about a year and yours is the most helpful, well-done, & informative review I've seen yet! I had a few questions, one which you answered in the comments (at what height the windows start), but if you still have this tent, maybe you've measured the width (x by y) of the inside of the tent at that point (the 3' height). If so, please let me know, as I want to put two beyer easy cots in this tent and I see that it does slope in a bit at the walls. Also, can you tell us more about that rear vent? Is it on all colors and how does it work? Screened? Double layer? Zipper? Stability "stick"? Is it for electric cord? I've never seen that feature described, in all my research. Does it work like the roof vents, with the zipper and the stick? Thanks again!! Excellent review! (Coleman should pay you for this - free rain fly, at least!)
@daddyfunn10 жыл бұрын
Looking at the angle you can safely gauge losing 1ft. at every 2 ft. elevation sample 2 foot from the floor the 10 x 9 becomes 9 x 8 and so on...The rear lower vent is screened, but no velcro or zipper secured, tucking it under works fine. Mine has no electric port access. No rain fly included but the material is thicker than most other brands. because the windows zip completely close, it is my go to tent for cool or cold nights.

Near the top in each corner you will find the attached guy lines and staking loops are at the corners and center front and center rear.

Hey man I have no idea about the King coil, but the tent is 10ft. by 9ft. floor space.

Remove the guy lines and replace with reflective cordage... walmart has reflective cordage 50' for under 10 dollars. If the wind picks up a little it will collapse on you. Buy bigger stakes , 10 total... try to leave a little slack for the door or won't hold up. My zipper gave. Just payed for a more expensive tent because of all the camping I do.

Thanks Ed. Very informative video.

Not the best design for windy conditions. Due to the angle of the vertical degree of the walls which I enjoy for the inside space they provide. The frame structure is a bit better construction than OT version of this style tent (if you were comparing them). The poles & mateial are noticeably thicker. You will appreciate on cooler nights!

Hey Mike, yes during rain not a storm. No leak and did not have rain fly. But give a little shake before you unzip the door just to avoid the access water from falling inside.

I know this tent does not come with a rainfly. Have you used this in the rain yet? And if so, has it leaked? I just bought the ozark trail version with a rainfly, but the I have heard the material and poles on the coleman is better and was thinking about taking it back and getting the coleman, but I was worried about no rainfly.

Hello lorisean06 Once a very light rain, no leaks. Before buying it, I wrote Coleman with that same question. Here's thier response --Response Via Email (Dale) 03/08/2013 10:21 AM Hi Ed I want to let you know that our tents are all water proof and the one thing that helps aid in the resistance is the proper use of the Rain fly on the tent. If the rain fly is not properly installed it will cause the tent to leak. If you have any other concerns or questions feel free to let me know.

Hello alternate, can't give you the measurement on this model, but shop carefully as there are 2 6 person models. The difference is the door size, and the one I show is the more narrow door type that looks like split doors from the front, the other is an obvious larger front style.

Hi Ed. Just wondering are you still using this tent and how has it held up?
@daddyfunn7 жыл бұрын
Mr Mach 1 Yes I do still use it. It is my go to tent for cooler nights in late fall or early spring. Due to the 1 piece solid roof & thicker material it holds in heat much better than most others. It has held up very well.
