No I drilled mine out and taped sae thread. My repair is still holding ok but I haven't had any long runs yet.

If you have a welder, welding a nut to a broken stud should always be the first line of attack

Not when it's recessed that much. Bad position to weld and lots of things to close that could be damaged from welding. Other wise I agree.

​@kevincrawford2027 yeah it was a tight spot. Even when they're recessed, though, it can still work well, you just build it up with weld.
