I'm really astounded at some of the comments, because it's not our house, and not for us to judge. I think Cole and Roman are a good team, along with the help the family throws in. This house needed a lot of work anyway, and i would not have moved my wife and children into a potentially dangerous home. The foundation and basement needed work anyway, so why not do all this once, and enjoy it. The electrical, plumbing, and many other thing's needed replacing. There are countless old house's that have burned down and killed many people just from that old wiring. The old plumbing wasn't adequate, and upgrading was needed, and the old lathe and plaster was falling off all over the house, and removing all that makes the electrical, plumbing, and heating much easier to do. Cole is learning valuable skills while doing this, and making these video's is paying the bill's. His family can come to the site at anytime to visit Cole, and this house has a lot of sentimental value to Cole, his dad, and family. He grew up around his grandpa in this house, and is restoring it to raise his family in, along with making it structurally safe, and built to last. I am sure his whole family will enjoy the underground movie theatre, and maybe it's not something i would want, but he does, and it's his house to build as he and his family would like it. This really hasn't taken that long for the amount of work that's been done. It is now winter, and you don't farm, so perfect time to get what he can get done in the off season. Eventually this will be finished, and then farming will come back, but i suspect Cole will find more thing's to challenge him. You tube gives him another income besides farming that is helping him make this a dream home for his family, so good on him. G-d bless everyone.

they can't help themselves on this channel for some reason. Constantly bombarded by people who aren't doing it themselves, but think he should do it their way. Even the, so called, professionals up there. They don't do this every day on their own dime, and without a team of 10-20+ workers. I also think they just randomly stumble on his channel because they'll say "should've talked to a pro"...when he flew a few states away to specifically work with one. Or I especially like the ones who say "he won't be done in a year", when he literally stripped, and reframed, the entire house in a year.

To all of Cole’s commenters. While Cole and his family live in a very cold section of the country it is also one of the countries areas most frequented by Tornados, Wind Storms and Severe Rain Storms. This room is actually a safe room for all the family is case a bad weather event destroys their home place. A movie theater sounds more pleasant and family oriented. One last thought, Cole said in this posting once the walls are poured they will put a lid on it, meaning a secured top tied to the rebarred structure. He is very methodical in his approach to every thing he does and makes it fun and interesting at the same time. Great work Cole and your extended family and friends! 2

Hi Cole, Looks like you just pounded the rebar into your holes drilled into the old basement concrete(and rock). Here in California code requires any connections to existing concrete to have the rebar attaching the two walls to be EPOXIED IN. Yes, we have earth quakes here, but Iowa is capable as well, all be it smaller ones. So those two wall connections to the old basement could pull apart in that event. I Care about you and wish you, Roman and your families a Merry Christmas!🎄🎄🎄
@alexdrockhound9497Күн бұрын
It would help with differential subsidence as well. Don't want the wall pulling apart. Concrete has poor tensile strength so you'd really want the rebar connection as you mentioned.

They are doing work on the exterior of the building, so I'm guessing they are using the plastic to hold in the heat. This is turning into one Hell of a project!! While I enjoy building stuff I hate concrete work!!!

He’s not going to stop before the walls are poured. Rental on the forms would be horrendous. And he really can’t stop before the backfill is done

You can use break clean (yes the same as you use on engines and breaks) to clean off any petroleum based oil. Bonus you can use it to 'drive' your car if the fuel pump goes out.

I am beyond excited for you all to get your money back from the IRS. I am so glad you were persistent and shame on them for holding up your money. You should get interest on your amount of time they had your money.

Yeah, it’s always different when they owe us!

Not so.. but it can be a frustrating interaction. I had to sort out an estate that was about 3 years behind in the paperwork but not the estimated payments. In the end they did pay interest on what was owed the estate. Granted it wasn't a lot but they were fair about it. I think it was a late refund. They deal with a few hundred million returns.. many of which are still paper. It's amazing they can even finish them let alone interact with every filer.

I got interest on three refunds that were refigured.

I hope you learned to line up materials way ahead of when you need them . I hope you've ordered the plastic to cover this huge project and secured the industrial heaters you are going to have to have before you can pour the cement to keep it from freezing. You need to make a pour plan and figure out how many pours and the procedure to cover the pours and get heat on them before you pour more . This is probably the most important thing you have on this job ,to make sure the pours don't freeze . So you need to start working on a plan to cover and heat the pours ahead of time so you arent running around chasing your tail while the pours freeze.

Merry Christmas to all of you guys and a very happy and safe new year too! If i were you Cole I would be sending your dad to town to get my wood to be able to make the canopy over the top of all of the walls for the heater to be able to keep the concrete warm

@ 23:41 (to everyone, look closely at the middle left part of the screen) i wonder "why did you have Subway sign laying on the floor in your heated workshop ?"
@Traks_threw_life8621 сағат бұрын
I have a Sonic and Dairy Queen sign bc most of the small towns around here with businesses are closed now. We used to have 3 food places, and now all we have is pizza. The building is sold, and that is how I got my signs. It may be the same for them, but who knows.

You may want to use some sprayfoam at the connections between your forms and the old concrete foundation unless you were able to get that surface super smooth and tapcon the forms to the old wall. I never noticed that you had made the old wall as smooth as it is now. I thought you still had a bunch of rocks protruding from the surface.

The release oil will not affect it at all, the rio and concrete seperate the moment there is expansion and contraction due to weather change

Anyone else watch the concrete pour in the Larson Farms beginning of each new video? That'll be Cole when this pour starts... but 10x the mess. All we'll need is Cole to ask DC, "What's a prostate?".

I’m so happy you finally ironed out the IRS mistake. I would hold them to the remaining 500 too. They made a huge mistake, found it, and didn’t double check their math. Have them send you the excel doc to justify their figures.

I agree. All taxes should tie to the gnats a$$ or someone needs to be fired. You wouldn't need to pay a personal accountant to pursue it either. Makes me wonder just what is going on. Where is truth?! Hmmmmmm.
