Another thing with electrical pvc conduit.... Lay all the pipe out in the sun and warm up. Normally we trench out everything, lay out our conduit, let it warm up because it becomes more flexible and when you glue it warm it glues with a better bonding. Glue everything outside of the trench and leave it alone for a while. Then push it in the trench. Push 6 inches of soil on top of the conduit. Pack it down. Then unroll the aluminum (Warning electric lines) metal location band (tape) then fill in the trench 1 foot at a time for the whole thing. come back immediately and pack the soil and dampen it with a hose. Once you do that then follow that same procedure filling it up till it's leveled. Then run the bobcat tred over it a couple times and leave it alone. You will notice in about a week the soil will drop down and compress more over time so once a week wet the area down and throw more soil on it and run the bobcat over it. After a month of doing this you shouldn't have any issues with big trucks and equipment driving over it and damaging the feeder wires.

I used to work for an electrical contractor that specialized in agricultural stuff, like hog houses and chicken houses. First thing is if you can go buy your wire and and what not at a place that just deals with with electrical stuff, normally it will be way cheaper than the big box stores. Next up when pulling wire through long runs of conduit, you should lay the pipe out by the trench, glue it together, you can leave the 90's off if you want till the end, put pipe in the trench and then you want to put in a pull string, tie a little bit of a plastic bag on the end of string, stick in the pipe, and go plug the other end up with a vacuum and suck the string to other side. Then you want to use a pull rope, flat ones work best, pull that to the other side, stagger the ends of your wire and hook the rope around the wire and electrical tape it to be safe, then stick it in the pipe and pull it to other side, keep some wire lube on hand in case you need extra slickness. on your smaller pipe you can just pull the wire through wtih the string, no need for rope, and we always pulled an extra pull string in with the wire in case we ever never to add another wire in the future. and other thing is after you get your pull strings in the pipe you can go ahead and burry it. Lots of the time on job sites you dont put the wire in same day as pipe but you want to cover your trenches up, for lots a reasons
@nathanlloyd1146
@nathanlloyd1146 5 күн бұрын
As an electrician the preferred method of heating up PVC and bending is a heat blanket or a hot box. Nothing wrong with the torch. But a tip is plugging both ends with a rag or cap so the heat doesn’t escape and the pipe heats up faster.

Great job gents. I would recommend considering snow and ice buildup on the pad where you wanted to mount the water pump electrical control box. If it so low, it may become destroyed or rotted prematurely with the ice and snow etc. Could even get damaged by snow removal. Just a point to consider, you would know the environmental weather considerations there more than I do.

I'm a master electrician. Priming the underground conduit is ok but not needed. Cpvc glue is not correct. There's a grey PVC glue made for underground conduit. 1st primer, then grey glue on one end of the pipe and also glue in the bell end of the other conduit. Push them together and twist a quarter inch. Then apply glue on the edge of the bell end and grab a hand full of sand or dirt and rub it into the glue. That'll seal it or tar the connection point of the conduits

10:00 If you're going to mount that control box outside, you need to put it in a weatherproof enclosure. Your chosen location might keep it dry most of the time in the summer, but heavy rains splash up from below, and in the winter snow could easily drift up over it. Mount it high in a box that is dry.

Cole, Roman, and Juston- I always want to run my wires in the code required size of pipe, and usually will go for one size bigger if the budget can hack it. Much easier to pull wire when it is tight and get gets twisted; second hint, you already know by know- roll the wire out flat, don't manhandle it in loops. It's a stone booger when you are trying to get it into conduit, even oversized. Glad to hear all are all healthy; with Cole for a boss, I do worry about all of your sanity.

Probably too late, but running some outdoor rated Ethernet (cat 6 or 7) and coax cable just in case. Having it there in case you need to extend your wifi or cable reach is a good future protection. You can run up to 150ft of ethernet before you need a repeater. Also, adding a future snake line into the conduit in case you want to add something later.
