I Accidentally FROZE My Tractors... | Hauling More Corn

The fun continues on the farm. We are in full corn hauling mode. Dad and I run around and work in the flat storage building (the big machine shed), load semis with corn, and finish up fixing an auger. I also highlight a few pieces of equipment while I am waiting for a semi to fill. Oh yeah, and we accidentally forgot to turn our fuse box back on after we plugged in the tractors and they "froze". I had a ton of fun making this video. Planting season 2019 is right around the corner here in Iowa. Once the weather straightens out we will be getting the planter ready. We have a few technological updates to be done on the planter and planter tractor. I am very excited to reveal them to you. Until then we will be changing oils and doing preventative maintenance on everything from the four wheel drive tractors to our tillage implements. We are planning on trying a new method of vertical tillage and no-till this year. I am always trying to be more efficient and conservative on our farm. Thank you for watching guys!
Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad and brother on the farm. His vision is to teach people what goes on during day to day farm operations. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

18,000 of of wet storage is a big plus. We used to have a 3000 bu hopper bottom which was not enough. We ended up changing out 20000 bu bin to wet storage, it's a tall narrow bin so it works pretty good. That feed into the 3000.

Man, I just enjoy your energy and enthusiasm. I grew up helping my grandpa with a big grain and livestock farm in SD so I can relate to much of what you are doing on a daily basis. My most common job was hauling grain (corn, oats, barley, millet, etc.) in from the fields from the combines and storing it in the onsite grain bins and silos. Anyway, I am no longer living in a rural area so I really enjoy watching your vlogs! Keep up the good work.

Cole You have a real talent for making video and holding people’s interest. This could be a possible career direction for you. I think you have enough creative potential to do big things.

Hey Cole great job once again, First if it isn't red leave it in the shed, Well I am the other way if its green then the right machine, It is only what you think is best, Both Case/International and John Deere have there good points, I have both also, Tractors and Combines, Another thing you guys keep Ronny busy job security for him, And now I want to say that with the power turned off from the heaters on the tractors you still had a option for Ronny so he did not have to make a dry run, I also noticed that you don't have much of a fly problem this time of year, Question when do you try to contract your corn to the ethanol plant?? Thank You for your positive attitude with the farm, Take Care
@ColeTheCornstar
@ColeTheCornstar 5 жыл бұрын
Rusty Walker This is a very intuitive comment, thank you! I agree with your comment about Red vs. Green. They both have their strong points. I like them both as well. Our red and AGCO local customer service are 10x what Green has to offer here. The salesmen are not even friendly here! Leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Ronnie stays very busy for us. He also hauls for other farmers and the local co-ops. Flys start to disappear with anything much colder than 65 degrees it seems like. We've been way closer to 0 a majority of the winter it seems! We try to contract our corn 12-18 months in advance. Thanks for watching!
@rustywalker202

Sorry that your John Deere people don't have what it takes to please the customers, I would feel the same, As far as the fly's I grew up on the dairy and when it was 0 we would say at the fly's aren't bothering us LOL And Cole I want to say Thanks for sharing your Videos they are great,

I used to work on the small assembly line, assembling pinch guards, rollers, axles, etc...my friend is a main welder and main assembly guy who puts the augers together. Of course this model is older than the ones they manufacture now but it's so cool to see a Canadian made farm equipment in your video haha!

My favorite parts are the silly jumpshots; walking over bobcat, headstands, moonwalk, walk through tire, motorcycle helmet, etc... its entertaining amd breaks up the monotony of your usual monotone droning dialogue of play by play what your doing... and now we are inspecting the flat tire, now we are looking for the spare, now we are looking for the lugwrench impact, dad forgot to put the socket away agajn, now im randomly puking, ok back to the tire, would'nt you know its the wrong size, its for the old homemade 16 row combine, which is really a 12 row plus parts off of an old 8row my dad amd grandad made by cutting 4rows off and welding it onto the old 12 row, but hey it works, now if i can figure where to get a tire because this one doenst fit. Well offto the combine junkyard again...amyways u get the idea....i could go on....

@jeffgixer5185
@jeffgixer5185 6 жыл бұрын
He has said in a previous video that they are using a hired trucker because Cole is away at school and it's not worth their time to be driving back and forth on the road and sitting in line waiting when they have stuff they can be doing on the farm. It makes sense by the time you get done paying a driver, fuel and maintenance costs on your own truck or comes out the same.

The Farming Life then maybe you should quit commenting on every channel. No one wants your stuff anywhere near them, that’s why you’ve been blocked on many channels. Plus look at all the other people who comment saying how fake you are. On how farms work’s video, there was 10-15 other people calling you out for the same thing. So no, real farmers aren’t going to continue to let you paint farmers in a bad light

They were made in Hamilton Ohio :) That style is called a 'ball-cornered Mosler' :-) At 1:04 I see the four acorn finials are missing from the hinges :( but that's pretty common. @15:21 maybe you should have shown what the Grease zerk looks like you installed before and after. Was it straight or angled? Good tip; if you can't get a zerk fitting to take grease use heat ( torch, heat-gun, and even a good hairdryer or space heater then try to grease it while hot. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming. Ps, be careful not to start a fire with the heat.

BigFoot Bubba It broke off so I couldn't get a before. It was identical to the one we put on. An angled one. You can't get a gun on the straight ones in there. I learned the heat method this past fall. Works great!

@@ColeTheCornstar Thanks for the answer! Another question-One of your other videos I watched two of your trailers full of beans got wet with rain, which you said is not a good thing. Do they sell covers for the grain trailers (like the tractor trailers that come to transport the corn/beans) that would prevent that? Thanks for the videos, I enjoy them very much.

pvp64 yes, they do. Those were our grain carts we were hauling them with and we have not purchased tarps for them yet. That's the first time in 20 years we have ever had carts get rained on while loading trucks. Would be handy though just in case!

Getting equipment started in this weather isn't a whole lot of fun. So do you guys hire your corn hauled out of your storage? Also how do you like that Hagie with the front boom? I've never run a sprayer with one like that, that would be super nice for Y-dropping nitrogen on our corn tho.

Paulson Farms We have been hiring our grain hauling lately due to time and other work conflicts. As for the Hagie, we love the boom in the front. We can see everything and run a nitrogen bar on it when we side dress. I'd never go back to a rear boom.

Was watching the inventory of the machinery and thinking "there must be a backhoe somewhere" and then, there it was! I have a few rural acres south-east of Ottawa ON, (surrounded by corn, beans, timothy, and clover). I can look in 4 different directions and see 4 farms with backhoes, All Case 580's, from the "C" on up. They must have sold a pile of those things. On a more somber note, that gravedigger device is a good thing, saves the family and friends from going through it all again when the frost is out of the ground...Trying to see a pattern of similarity in the car/truck collection...if there is one I can't see it... Somebody put a lot of work into the F150!

Ken ny It's been a really solid backhoe for us. We have had it at least 20 years. The Ground Hog is also a neat tool. Families do appreciate it too. The pattern with our cars is "more". 😂 It took my brother a good year and a half.
