You know, I can never get over his lovely voice! to me he has a Brilliant Voice. and his hair! Love It! he was sooooo CUTE back then .( love the Charater and at the end where he said 'yes' and keeped talking, i just died!). Colin Baker remids me so much of me! and he still is a nice bloke and whoever he ended up with is so lucky!

I saw this serie in the Netherlands as an 18 year.old...i always rememberred it for its great acting...the tension between them was unbelievable..Colin Baker played here the type of banker we only got to know in the 80s..ahead of his time..this still could be a success if they broadcast it again!

@@DarksaberForce It helped Colin win the role of the Doctor. The event that sealed the deal was when he and John Nathan Turner went to the wedding of a woman on the staff. Colin's charisma at that wedding, on top of his performance as Maxil, convinced John that he was the perfect choice for the Doctor. And John was right. Colin could have been a formidable contender for the title of Greatest Doctor Of All Time. The problem was that shitstains like Michael Grade were deliberately sabotaging the show.

@Berrypoint Yep, the D.W. heads REALLY should have gone with the black velvet suit like Colin suggested, BUT NNOOO, they wanted the "explosion in a rainbow factory" suit as it is called. I take comfort in that "Real Time" and most Big Finish episodes the 6th Doctor has a LOVELY blue suit instead.

I remember him being interviewed in a documentary series about 1970's TV which included an episode devoted to The Brothers (which was a hugely popular Sunday night show in the mid-1970's and a great favourite of my family). He admitted that he nailed the odious Paul Merroney's character to the extent that devoted fans of the show would stop him in the street and hurl verbal abuse at him, also winding down their car window at traffic lights, yelling at him and telling him exactly where to go! The character's introduction really shook up the story line, and he was one of those characters that you just loved to hate! Incidentally, Talking Pictures TV in the UK is currently showing "The Brothers" on Thursday evenings at 8pm, but we are only on the first season, so still some way off Merroney's introduction.
