Doctor Who: The Last Adventure Tribute

During Big Finish Day 7 we caught up with the cast from the latest and final Doctor Who story in the Sixth Doctor's timeline.
Colin Baker tells us all about the response he has had since the story was first announced and confirms this is not the end of old Sixie.
We also chat with India Fisher and Lisa Greenwood about their time recording 'The Last Adventure'.

I really love how Big Finish went back and retroactively gave 6 a completed and resolved character-arc, unlike the unfinished one he had in the show. Literally the only thing I would want that we don't have in terms of 6's timeline is the sendoff story to Constance and Flip, and the proper introduction story to Mel. Like, in terms of _Doctor Who_ being one giant story quilt passing down and changing hands, that's the only remaining gap in his part of the timeline. And even then, Big Finish has still given us a pretty clear idea what each of those events probably entailed, even if we haven't explicitly heard/seen them.

​@@stevenedwards8353 For sure, like, with Flip and Constance the big thing is a "final story" was _PLANNED_ as part of the main range... but then the pandemic happening, during which the actress who played Flip got sick, delayed it. Then during that interim time, Big Finish actually decided to _END_ the main range... and the combination of that happening, along with Flip and Constance being something the creative team pretty much moved on from, has caused their "sendoff" story to not be made (yet). EDIT: Wanted to update my original comment, with some new information. Unfortunately the actress who plays Flip is _STILL_ severely ill with Long Covid, and this is the primary reason the creative team haven't made any stories featuring Flip and Constance. So this isn't really as much a case of BF voluntarily not finishing their arc, as my original comment implied, as much a genuinely tragic real-world situation preventing them from being able to complete the story. Similarly this is what happened with Evelyn Smythe's actress, who was depicted as leaving the 6th Doctor "offscreen." They did intend to actually depict this departure eventually, and rumor has it (can't confirm, take it with a grain of salt) she may have been intended to be featured in "the Last Adventure" as well... but unfortunately the actress who played her died in 2014. Out of respect, as opposed to making that sendoff story with a different actress, BF instead decided to retire the character in her honor (as well as go with a different companion in "The Last Adventure," if that rumor is true).

Met Colin at a signing in 2002. He was a really good sport, and a genuinely lovely bloke, sharp and witty but humble and down to earth. He didn't have a great run on TV due to hostile elements within the BBC, but Big Finish did the right thing and gave him the stories he deserved. 'Doctor Who' doesn't get much better than 'Jubilee', really.

I feel sorry for both Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy because They got a really bad wrap during their televised tenures. The television networks at that time became so obsessed of doing soap dramas and reality tv shows. That's what led into Doctor Who being axed for 16 years.

No matter what any ones says Colin is one of the best doctors infact there hasn't been a doctor that I haven't enjoyed, and that's the thing I love most about doctor who it's all ways different but always the same.

***** I have and that's very true but in terms of the shape of his face and body he didn't look that much different and he was already nearing his fifties back when he played the role so the difference wasn't too big. Colin on the other hand has changed drastically since he left the show and even sounds pretty different so having him reprise his role would be a pretty big risk.

The octopus type creatures would be the Daleks sans casing. He did have a companion that was a shape shifter that eventually decided to look like a penguin for most of the time. Frobisher I think was his name.

I personally am in the middle of that, as I'm not against the idea of a female Master. But I just don't think this incarnation of the Master is well written.
