Hey Cowherd, do you know why Worthy was dropping some balls ? Yes, during that season Worthy was playing with a broken hand. Now you're trying to make a case based on that ? Why don't you say the whole truth ? Worthy is a team player and although he wasn't a 100 per cent healthy he played thru injury.

As a Longhorn fan... I cheered when the Cowboys drafyed Lamb, so I can be unbias when it matters. And that being said, Cowherd clearly didn't do any actual research. He isnt a college football fan to begin with. 1. Worthy isn't a track guy. He's just fast. 2. He only had one season with significant drop rates because he had a broken hand. 3. He's actually an excellent short to mid field route runner. He can improve on deep ball tracking and routes but I out some of that on Quinn's ugly deep ball throwing. 4. X is a dog. He may be skinny but that dude plays hard af. He loves to block and isn't afraid of contact. He is muvh more of a Stefon Diggs type WR than a Tyreek though. So im curious to know how Reid uses him.

@@UNFAIRSPORTS He's not Tyreek Hill, of course, but neither was Tyreek Hill, when he entered the league. It took a few seasons to polish his game, but it was Mahomes who made him a superstar after Alex Smith made him a star. Worthy's basically Hill with a head start. Hill is also not the monster the KC media made him out to be, and even though he left to get his bag in Miami, I'll defend him from that fake news for as long as I encounter those who believed the lies. He's not perfect, by any stretch, but there's literally no evidence that he's ever been violently abusive - but there is evidence that his ex was psychologically and fiscally abusive.

Cowherd going “hawt take” here. As a Texas fan, this doesn’t offend me. More amusing than anything. Xavier was much more than a track guy. Terrific short area quickness in addition to long speed. Packed surprising punch in traffic for a skinny (170 pound) guy. Appreciate your balanced take. I agree that Xavier should do well in Reid’s offense with Mahomes, OU’s Brown, Kelce and others.

Worthy is going to be a baller in KC. Also worthy dropped weight for the 40 yard dash recored. His playing weight is closer to 170-175ish. Hes comparable to devonta smith in size and his route running is fantastic and can actually track the ball in the air. Hes put up consistent production, second year had a broken hand and played through it. Hes going to be really good.

Broken hand 2022 season. Still has some occasional drop problems but more than makes up for it with his home run ability at any given time. Does not play like a 165 pound player. One of the few guys whose track speed translates to the football field. As a second or third option in the KC offense, this is the perfect situation for Worthy.
@Aspann85
@Aspann85 26 күн бұрын
The reason X’s TDs went down from freshman year was because his freshman year he was quite literally the only receiver Texas had. The next two years he had to split them. It’s simple math. Team production on offense has gone up every year. Somewhere something that was an anomaly will suffer a bit. That “track guy” also used to routinely take screens and sweeps to the house breaking tackles and juking defenders. That’s not all straight line speed which is what I’d consider a track guy. 🤡 will 🤡

Hate on you? Why? Look, I'll be real, I've hated OU for a long time, but for a reason. When I was stationed at Tinker AFB, I had friends in Norman, but any time I went there and I was out in public, the college kids made sure I knew that only losers enlisted. If you feel that I should forget that level of contempt, because reasons, read on, and find out why those reasons won't work. You see, my wife's related to Harold Keith, who you ought to know about as an OU football fan. He also held world records for running set distances over 70, or whatever age. Two in one day, back to back, and was a fine author, too. His books won many awards, including one about my wife's father, when he started coaching basketball as the head coach. That got made into an obscure but very good movie adaptation, and Jeffery Donovan and Samantha Mathis absolutely nailed the portrayal of her parents. He was also an alum who held football season tickets for decades, and while he could be an asshole, to the point of very occasionally using racial slurs during family gatherings, but oddly enough, that doesn't influence my view of OU a bit. So as you can see, while I will always dislike OU, I have real-life ties to OU, as well. I also have the ability to partition those things while letting them temper each other a bit. Of course, none of that matters much here, but it's a good story and as real as it gets. If Unfair Sports (sorry, missed your name) would like to talk more about my personal ties to OU, I welcome him reaching out to me, the cat talks real. I'd like to think such a passionate OU fan would like to learn a little more OU-related stuff.

Getting 2-deep in speed opens up their scheme. For Reid, it's about being able to flip the field once or twice (or more) times per game. Keeping that threat in place is huge. Being able to USE that threat when the defense takes it lightly is huge. They're good enough to eke out wins without any downfield consistency, but they always keep that threat in place and have the guts to act on it. Even if you're not hitting it at a high percentage, Reid only needs one or two of those, per game, although of course, you'd like to see more. Worthy and Brown are both more skilled pass catchers than either Hardman or MVS were for them. Just don't expect them to be Mahomes's bread and butter. It's more important to keep that threat intact into February than it is to see either one or both go over 1000 yards. Both Brown and Worthy seem like injury risks. They'll have to limit their exposure to big hits. I don't know about Brown as a blocker, but Worthy's willing, but doesn't have much lead in his ass.

"Everybody's favorite commentator"? Pretty unprofessional and self righteous of you to take such a dig against a fellow sports commentator while claiming that you "like to have an intelligent football conversation around stuff." "Everyone enjoys piling on Cowherd?" Really!! Cowherd "pooped on Texas fans?" Really?? Cowherd was simply making the point that the Chiefs could have gotten a better value taking a receiver in the 2nd round as opposed to paying 1st round money for a receiver in the bottom of the 1st round. And he pointed out historical stats to make his point. That sounds somewhat intelligent to me. And your "intelligent" argument for the Worthy pick is "I like Xavier Worthy" he just had "bad QB play?" Really? That's your argument. He had wayyyy better QB play than what Marvin Harrison jr got and had a way better supporting cast. It's not even close. You then point out that Worthy only had "5 TD's which is bad" and that his stats declined each year as the Texas team got better. Aren't you actually making Cowherd's point here? You then dismiss your own stats stating "but the dude can ball" and "we know what Andy Reed can do with fast receivers like Tyreek Hill." Well, didn't Andy Reed make a value proposition and trade Hill? You then go on to make the case that Worthy needs to be able to get wide open which implies he is not good in coverage - further making Cowherd's point. And then you ramble about the number of Sooners on the Chief's roster as though that has anything to do with the argument. You then point out that Worthy has a tendency to drop passes - further making Cowherd's point. You then sum up your argument that "as long as Worthy does what the Chiefs need hime to do and minimizes his drops." Well no kidding Sherlock!!! Doesn't that apply to every receiver. You never addressed one of Cowherd's points. Rather, you just rambled, stated the obvious and talked some Sooners. Jay this podcast was nothing more than a needles cheap shot. I'm no fan of Cowherd, but If you're gonna slam someone you really need to bring a rational coherent argument that counters their stats and facts. You didn't do that. In fact, you actually made Cowherd's point.

Last season Worthy had a lower dropped-pass percentage than Marvin Harrison Jr. Cowherd is a Washington Husky fan whose perception of Worthy was shaped by the 2022 Alamo Bowl where Worthy dropped two passes that likely would have resulted in touchdowns. It was later learned Worthy was playing with a broken hand.

Worthy ran a fast 40, but did it really translate to the field? I honestly don’t think that Cowherd missed the mark on this one.

I love the hate from the boomer sooners. Moreover, you have to respect someone's opinion in order to take offense to it. Never have, nor ever will respect anything that comes out of click bait Cowherd's mouth. As usual, a lot of mis-quoted stats being thrown around.
