Not since Lawrence Olivier I feel Colin Firth has surpassed him in many ways through his versatility and vulnerability which he doesn't worry about showing to the audience which endears him more to me each time I watch him in any of his movies. My favorite actor he truly is. How lucky we all are!

My mother is 89 and she fell head over heels in love with Mr Darcy. She fell and broke her hip and leg and battled dementia watching colin brought her so Much joy and happiness. It was like a shot of female hormones for her. I had to buy her her own copy of pride and prejudice. SHE JUST HAD A STROKE YESTERDAY. HER HEART LIFTS WHEN SHE SEES HIM.I don't think actors realize how deep into our hearts they go.I noticed Fred Astaire does it to the 100 Year olds in the nursing home .as for me I am stuck on Jeramy Brett. But I love colin too.

He is starting right away with an important message to (not only) young people: Mind your language! It seems to be a big issue especially in Britain, since it DOES make a huge difference if or if not you are a well-spoken person. Your language forms your personality and the way people react to you. Colin appears as a gentleman and it does have to do with his now educated accent. If he could adapt it, so can every other woman or man in the UK who wants to climb the social ladder...

Same with Hugh Grant, people think he comes from a posh/rich family and even think he is related to the Queen, is all not true, Hugh grew up in a middle class family and his father was a military and then a carpet seller, and his mother was a french teacher. So, both actors are an example that anyone, if they wanted, could speak well and give the impression of well educated or "upper class" people.
