I wish they would have mentioned that they are , in fact , both world champions! Colin the '95 World Rally Champ, and Martin the '88 World Sportscar Champ.

Brundle was always a better driver than his F1 results show. A little more confidence and support and he'd have pushed for a WDC. He was certainly on it in the Scooby.

His foot injury really hindered his career and I believe stopped him from having the ability to left foot brake. This is the same man that challenged Senna right through F3.

Martin's Norfolk accent much stronger back in the day. 'Jus keep flick'n the lever.' Bootiful!

It's really insane how the best of the best of motorsport truly are a step above the rest. For each of these dudes to jump into a completely different discipline of racing where the concepts couldn't be further apart and have very successful outings, pushing the cars really highlights that.

They are really not that different at all, same principles of feel for the car , finding the grip leval, seat of the pants understanding of the machine and a skill set suited to that sport, now if you were talking about a pool player driving the F1, or the rally car well, I would be very impressed.

Brundle was unlucky to be up against people like Senna and Schumacher. Lots of great drivers are sometimes just up against it they are either in a team that’s struggling or someone special just keeps winning in a machine that shouldn’t really win. Martin is great in sky’s F1 channel and he gets my respect. RIP Colin you were a legend and one hell of a driver ❤

The lack of raised sides around the driver is a giveaway.

Subaru seems to have normal grooved everyday tyres at Silverstone track and not the usual slicks they use for tarmac racing. A legend and WRC hero, great to see the late Mr. Colin McRae.

Brundle drove in 1996 RAC rally with Ford Escort. Did he finish 8th? Rally was not part of WRC, absent were the leading drivers. Armin Schwarz won. Also Kankkunen and Vatanen competed.

Sucks that things like this don't happen very often nowadays. A true driver/discipline swap were they both push hard.

That didn't look like a works WRC Suburu? Not with an H pattern manual box?!
@wrc5557Күн бұрын
Its a Gp A impreza so pre-WRC regs, but they ran the H pattern box even in the early WRC imprezas before they perfected the paddle shift

Definitely a works Prodrive Impreza. Sequential gearboxes weren't common until later in the 90s. Only Mitsubishi had a sequential box in the 96 WRC.

Problem always is with F1 drivers when they get in anything else they're like yeah, meh, it's alright. You see them and ask them, I have. They drive an extreme production road hypercar today and they're like yeah, it's alright. Just isn't near an F1 car though. WRC car has less than half the power and twice the weight of an F1 car of that era. F1 is another world in terms of raw acceleration and lateral G. It's a terrifying day for the rally driver sticking corners at 150mph and just another slow fun drive for an F1 pro in a WRC. You can see it with some other swaps, like the stock car swap for F1, the F1 driver is underwhelmed and the stock car driver's brain melted from F1 lol

And you're really so ignorant you think they don't know today? Are you one of those people who are so intellectually deficient that you believe driving a car with a manual gearbox is hard for anyone, especially a highly talented F1 driver?
@derbigpr500Күн бұрын
@@vladvasiloni1577 You obviously are exactly what I assumed in my previous comment. If you think driving a manual is difficult in any way and think it's a show of driving skill, then you're totally clueless about driving yourself.

Both famed for crashing a lot.
@FightingTorque41118 сағат бұрын
Brundle was one of the safest pairs of hands over his career, and when he did crash it was usually a mechanical failure or another driver.
