I've driven on the course he took his license on. Even then he was finding hedges to drive into (they've kept the hole to this day)

Colin definitely was a character that helped bring more attention to the sport. Even though he wasn't my favorite driver (that would be Petter Solberg who, ironically, was another character that won a championship in a Subaru ), I must say that his career certainly has several "what ifs?". '95, for instance, wouldn't have been his had Toyota not been caught and, more importantly, had Carlos not broken his leg and missed 2 or 3 rounds (unlucky, because Loeb broke his shoulder and missed 4 rounds in '06 but still won the title!!). But more importantly, '97 and '01 were definitely possible but '97 had too many crashes and in '01, he had to drive an absolute pig of a car on Pirelli tyres and that damn Focus was too unreliable. Nonetheless, a fantastic driver and it's a pity that Colin and Richard Burns aren't here today because they were certainly up there (this is a great video but would you ever consider doing one on Richard Burns, as most people tend to.overlook him?)

Thank you for sharing this, things definitely could have gone either way for McRae and so many others, we would love to cover Richard but to be completely transparent there just isn’t enough viewers to justify it, not meaning anything negative just that the time it takes to make a video and how brutal KZbin can be when it goes wrong means we really need to pick our videos, there are just 2 on the team atm working every hour to try and bring everyone better videos more often, and as much as we would love to make tonnes of videos about lesser known topics the likelihood of it getting low views means we need to pursue more “in demand” topics, wish that wasn’t the case but we have to make what people want to see 🙏 I just wanted to be open and honest, maybe one day when we have a bigger more dedicated fan base we can help shine a light on Richard’s achievements, so I will add it into our workload and maybe one day we can make it happen 🙏👍

Honestly i Adore mcrae. but this Young born to win champ Kalle is mind blowing to me. Hyundai can barely scrape the championship in the final round, and ide bet its becauae Sebastian and Kalle are part time this season. 😂😅

Very poor video when it comes to facts… you only talk about his crashes, which, in truth, from 1995 or 1996 became quite rare. In 1997 he lost the championship because his Subaru’s engine would brake at every gearchange, and in 1999, his Ford, the 1st year of the Focus remember, and back in those days a whole new car was expected to be unreliable, was even more fragile than the Subaru… We must notice, when he moved to Ford, in that year he was by far the best paid rally driver in the world. I suppose it was not because he was crashing all the time… So, this is how good McRae was, and this is how bad this video is. And this is why you are not getting subscribed, not even a like in your video. You get a comment because I like facts to get facts right, and honestly, theres so much content on youtube alone these days, it is not that difficult. Nice production to the video though. Just search in a proper way.
