One of the most self reflective admissions that brought Jeff forward as the true central character of the story... well maybe the most crucially impacted.
Chisel away the stone and the prize is revealed.
In this case the stone is represented by the other principal characters.
My hope is that Jeff is rescued and the love he and Lue have strengthens. Everything alse, for me, has fallen to secondary concerns.

There was a lot of fan talk when Sherlock was on about introducing a 3rd brother. The lead fan cast was Tom Huddleston at the time but more than one person was like “if he was a younger brother he could be that guy from Merlin”.

I wish the show had been centred around Jeff and Lue. They were the more interesting couple (having the two more technically gifted actors as the secondary characters was a bold choice).

I agree wholeheartedly !!! With one caveat... I don't think it was a choice. Cordon is an executive producer. Therefore, I think that was a guiding principle. He, no doubt, had a different vision and mucked it up. [I'm looking past that and praising the writers for what this story is truly about. Even if Cordon continues to drag it elsewhere.]

Colin’s back must really hurt after carrying the entire show. Pity James Cordon was the main focus. Also this man ages like a fine wine.

I like your sentiment. Jeff was the hidden gem for sure and psychologically speaking the most significantly impacted character thus the REAL story. James is the Executive Producer and therefore the money... boom spotlight.

@@bethford6007do you by chance have more scenes of Colin Morgan (Jeff) :D ?
@bethford6007
@bethford6007 Жыл бұрын
@somerhingelse sorry, not really. My goal was just to share the scene I thought was best from Mammals. The one that flipped the whole show on its end for me. Revealling Jeff to be the center stage storyline worthy of our time and discovery. If I were the writer, season 2 would go in that direction. Which wouldn't make James Corden very happy at all. So, the smart decision isn't the one they will likely make. Back to (me) my goal was to comment on and promote the show. I'm not a fandom kind of person that puts out video or art of Colin for the sake of Colin (no offense to Colin). I will, however, saturate myself in his body of work studying the skill in which he does his craft (as I do with other actor/actresses). There are other sources better suited for the Colin reels if that is what you seek. I see many here on KZbin and Twitter. This video here really is terrific and thanks for wanting more. I recommend watching the show.

Have you seen the show? This line delivery was the moment I was convinced the real center of attention is Jeff Wilson in this story. In all seriousness - who could be more interesting? I'm intrigued how Amandine got her clutches on him and desperately want him to be healed. His initial suicidal (nearly successful) was in direct reaction that Jamie learned of Paul, what will happen when Jamie actually confronts him? Will he attempt again? Will Lue save him in reality as she did off the bridge? The whale is out of place and implausible while the better mammal was the stag in the woods who ultimately sacrifices itself while saving Jeff (of course all coincidentally). This show is a terrific exploration for relationship psychology imo.

@@bethford6007 I knew Jeff was Paul from the beginning. What does not make sense is Jamie's cheating. He was so in love with his wife. Nothing he did would indicate he had an affair. Even the lengths he went to to discover her other lovers. Of course he could have just been projecting. Also what the hell is going on with Lou?? My only explanation for what is happening to her is that she's created her own fantasy to deal with what Jeff did. Since she obviously knew about it.
@bethford6007
@bethford6007 Жыл бұрын
@Just Chrys interesting input. I never saw Jeff as Paul and loved finding out the way we did. But bravo for seeing that up front. And yes, the shocking reason as to why where we the audience learn Jamie cheated first. I see this series as 4 distinct approaches to infidelity. Amandine = self-absorbed manipulative control freak. Initiating arousal with Jamie over laminated papers in the kitchen world, cheating on Jack, and then tricking him to confess as retaliation for not keeping her gift in better shape. ( I don't want her as my lover or even my friend). Jamie - double standard (ok for him not okay for his partner) - he wasn't in love with her he was infatuated, and he was plotting retaliation of some kind to teach her a lesson (he's a crass guy... self-centered does to Jeff exactly what Jeff describes Lue is doing to him - ehhh, I'll eat at his restaurant, but that's about it), Lue, she's a retreater when faced with crisis. Unable or unwilling to confront Jeff, but is hurt, and she escapes into fantasy where she is the desired one, the center of attention, the success, and glamorous life. And yet still in fantasy, she saves Jeff from jumping, saying a key sentence (it's not too late). In her heart, she loves Jeff and forgives him. She just doesn't know how to address it in real life, and if she does, it might not go the way she wants, so it's better to suffer in silence. (I want to be her friend. She's mad at Jeff, and it slips by calling him a moppet (stupid) but apologizes very soon after.) Jeff - oh, my favorite. He's the underdog. He is everybody's doormat, a pushover. Amandine is a skillful seducer manipulator. It truly had to be her talons that dragged him in. He's pursuing Lue to tell him what's wrong (polar opposite to Jamie/Amandine). And Amandine says her minute long orgasm wasn't based on what he was doing (sorry, Jeff) but I think it was her realizing she's found the single most painful tool to hurt Jamie with and with that success she orgasms. Makes me wonder if she did something to cause the miscarriage to help orchestrate her plan with the phone. usage. Questions: Who is the woman with Jamie - was it Gail? How does Lue know about Jeff? What is Jamie going to say to Jeff? Can Jeff survive the next wave of disaster. I see Jeff & Lue as a survivable couple that actually love each other - they nurture each other and are about healing and mending. Jamie and Amandine need to call it quits. They both suck. Jeff loves his best friend. It wasn't cheating on Lue that drove him to suicide - it was finding out that Jamie knew of Paul that Jeff felt doomed and guilty to the point he couldn't face hurting Jamie (and friend/family love not romantic/desire love). Even before Jamie gets with Amandine, Jeff says tell her you have the flu (as in don't get tempted) so I don't think Jeff is normally a cheating kind of guy. After the iceburg broke for him with Amandine, that's most likely when he began to dabble and always with H2O and alcohol (his Prairie Vole falling to the Meadow Vole lifestyle) and possibly avoidable if life at home was better. He was drunk as a Beatle so that was probably the night Almandine sank her teeth into him. I also loved that he's jealous of the name Dave. He is wounded and in "exquisite pain." Amandine = blatant cheater does as she wants no care for those she hurts in her wake & retaliation/revenge Jamie = double standard & retaliation/revenge Lue = feels guilty cheating in fantasy & escape / retreat Jeff = reactionary to circumstance, a puppet to other's manipulations & in agony imploding suicidal. And why isn't Jeff suicidal hurting Lue? Maybe in the romantic relationship there can be mending that can't happen in relationships where that activity can't be used. Hmmmm. I enjoyed the material this series provided for deep discussion. And I love how Colin delivers his monologues - they're practically musical. There is a scene in Merlin that is the best example of that. Season 4, Episode 13 - The Sword in the Stone part 2 (at about 23 min) begins: *"When the sword was thrust into the stone..... I believe it, though. And I believe in you. I always have"* (technically the musical score is playing, but I think it's more because of the importance of what is being said. And if you took the score out, Colin's delivery still sounds musical.

@@bethford6007 I love your analysis. Amandine reminds me of the lady from Gone Girl. The same manipulation to get what she wants. Pay attention to Jeff's lecture at the university, the first one, not the one where he's high. Also I'd really like to hear you analysis of The Living and the Dead. The ending of that really messed with mind a bit.

@Just Chrys thank you so much for the compliment! I watched Mammals twice straight away. Right after the end of episode 6, I said I gotta see that again! Started talking it up with friends and agreed with one to watch it a 3rd (this time specifically to take notes) lol Said friend refused to continue the discussion. (best of friends can really piss you off sometimes)... I think she didn't like me picking on her favorite Amandine. Her and my opinion of Amandine are polar opposites, and she'd rather pretend we didn't have the conversation than admit Amandine could be less than her 'take' of the character. [it's not easy accepting an opposing opinion as a valid view, but in reality, it IS those opposite views that validate our own. If everyone thought the same or were the same, then the meaning of some words become meaningless, so you have to have variety. [it could be a mind trick thinking that one out haha] The Living and the Dead !!! I was just going to watch an episode or two before the day begins (even before having read your comment). I can't get enough of it and can't stop talking about it to everyone! I think when something strikes my fancy, I have to reach a certain level of saturation before moving on. If that saturation isn't reached, I find myself revisiting it often. I will discuss TL&TD very soon with/for you. Let me run through it one more time and do a favorite clip like I did here of Mammals. .... love this, thanks for being interested !!!

series. 1 season so far. 6 episodes 30 min each. it's TERRIFIC. on the surface --> a following of a man as he handles an 'issue' ... deeper observation at the end reveals it was 4 distinct ways to handle/react to said issue. I think it's an ideal educational tool for a college course in psychology. Amazon Prime "Mammals" ♡♡♡♡♡♡
