Anthony and Jim have both said that when Opie was in a good mood and he was on, he was fun to be around and he contributed funny stuff. The problems arose when he was in a sour mood he sucked. I think the problem was that they were evolving beyond what radio traditionally was: a structured thing with bits and phone calls, into being essentially a podcast, with funny guys sitting around talking into microphones. Opie was a radio guy so he would constantly interrupt to do phone calls and shitty bits, that's most of what people don't like about him. Yeah, he came out with a good line or two every now and then, but is he even in the same neighborhood of funny as Ant or Jim? Not even counting some of the funniest people to ever walk the Earth like CQ and Patreeky. And his podcast is the worst thing ever, I'd rather have a knife go in my ear than that heap of rubbish. You're right in saying that the three of them together made the show good, and they do all suck individually, but Opie sucks the worst as a solo act. Jimmy and Anthony could do a show together that's just as good as classic satellite O&A. Jimmy and Opie couldn't do that. I don't think Opie and Anthony did that.
