I love Colin pining but my favorite thing about the ballroom scene was Violet on the sidelines watching as Colin walked up to pen. And how she watched Pen dance with Debling then looked to Colin to see his reaction to it. She’s clocked his tea.

I think I heard in an interview that Ruth ( Violet) came up with the fact she would be looking on from afar. She had to do that for hours. I love their relationship. I feel like he is her favorite child. ❤

That balloon scene is like the first time we’ve ever seen Colin that assertive and decisive and… animated about anything. Anthony and especially Benedict have always been much more passionate and emotive. It was super satisfying to see Colin care about something that much.

I agree! Plus it’s not like Pen automatically forgave him he had to earn it! Plus some of it wasn’t on screen like she ignored him for months with the letters!

I don't think it's about watching him 'suffer' which I don't think he really is personally. It's about the fact that Penelope has been yearning for Colin for YEARS with no reciprocation, so now it's nice to see Colin yearn for a change.

There was a tweet Nicola posted about being obsessed with grass. The actor who plays Deblin replied saying he doubted that. I also the he gave her the peblin t-shirt she was wearing in a photo.

Great reaction. They really didn’t to add more to that balloon s end to make it clear that Colin only acts because he’s sees Penelope is in front of the balloon and also that Penelope stands there, when she had plenty of time to move out of the way, because she’s staring at hot action man pirate outfit Colin! It’s little details I love in this show too, like Violet in the background of the last scene watching as Colin goes over to Penelope.

Here is something that strikes me--the Bridgerton siblings really don't seem very much interested in Colin, other than Hyacinth (who is just a lovely person imho). Something is going on right up front at the start of this episode. Colin is upset and discomboluted about something he does not wish to discuss, and if anything doubles down on his confusion when someone mentions Penelope. Eloise is upset because she feels guilty, but not one other sibling seems to have cottened onto the fact Penelope LOVES Colin. I mean, even Eloise didn't notice! And with him stumbling over mentioning her name like this, that counts as a clue. But they dismiss it as Colin being his awkward, immature self. Which is very human. Not least because Colin does not wish to discuss his deepest feelings to any of his siblings, and boy is he ever RIGHT about that. Who wants to be mocked for loving something? Or someone? Or for feeling love, passion, fear, desire or indeed anything at all? Do you doubt Benedict, Anthony, and Eloise would tease him mercilessly if he mentioned anything of the sort? He knows his siblings. They love him. But respect him? No. Are they kind toward him? Not very often, no. Do they try not to hurt his feelings? Hardly ever. Hyacinth and Gregory seem to lack this toxic trait, as does Daphne more or less. But it is no surprise me that Colin and Francesca both are eager to wed, eager to make homes of their own. Francesca had the wonderful luck to run into someone perfect for her pretty soon, and they both felt that way almost immediately. So did Colin but he didn't recognize it, and so stumbled around finding a way to fit in, to survive emotionally, and in the process built up some impressive emotional defenses. When the crumbled, he clearly panicked. But then he found himself terrified by the potential of all he desired--namely, that Penelope might reject him. Because one thing his family has taught him (without let us be fair meaning to do so) is that he does not deserve respect, does not deserve to be listened to, does not in fact deserve love. No wonder he's on such an emotional roller coaster! IMHO
