The Herd with Colin Cowherd EXACTLY I agree Colin it’s a disloyal, unjustified, unfair, unreasonable society we live in professionally and privately!!! I don’t even like Russell we this is unfair biased and dead wrong! Russel should at least be the runner up if not the mvp PERIOD! Back to back seasons of averaging a triple double!!! Jus think about that!

The Herd with Colin Cowherd you keep tryna make LeBron MVP a thing. And you're saying they're giving harden the edge because it's 'new'.. Hardens been the runner up for MVP the last 3 seasons. Let him have his moment. LeBron is either 1 or 2 when he's done. 1 more mvp doesn't affect him

Man anybody who actually watches basketball knows Drose's deserved it that year. I want to punch Colin in the face all the time when he tries put LeBron on this godly pedestal. He'd let LeBron go balls deep on his wife and daughter and would watch.

The Herd with Colin Cowherd Yep. I'm sold I don't get it either. If Westbrook didn't win it this year fine. He isn't in the top 5 nominated? Yea it seems a bit fishy. As far as I'm concerned now MVP doesn't have the same meaning to me anymore. I didn't notice it in my 20's but now yea... doesn't mean the same anymore. Only MVP's who I said to myself glad they won were Allen Iverson and Derrick Rose. The teams they were on would never win a Finals and at least they can have some acknowledgement of their skills and not be swept under the rug of obscurity.

He implied that Westbrook stat pads (which he does) and LeBron, who's had more triple doubles this season than his first 7 years in the league combined, isn't stat padding but is clearly the best choice for MVP.
@Yesboiii996 жыл бұрын
Colin cherry picks. If harden had a defensive rating in the 300s he would smash him. LeBron was the worse defender this year by A LONG MILE.
@darkeye2466 жыл бұрын
When a 6 foot CP3 is a better defensive player than LeBron (6 foot 9, 250+ pounds), you can clearly see LeBron is expending all of his energy towards the stats that people actually look at. LeBron is literally the main reason the Cavs are going to finish 3rd/4th in the EAST. He doesn't care about defense because he won't have energy to put up amazing numbers on offense.
@kyleferguson54636 жыл бұрын
LeBron is also in the East which is quite considerably easier to put up elite offensive numbers in which he tends to focus all his energy for that side of the ball.

One of the very rare occasions that Colin actually makes valid points _and_ has valid proof to back it up. He's still no Chris "The GOAT" Broussard but I'll give him credit for this take.
@cyber6sapien6 жыл бұрын
He didn't make valid points. He was just trying to make a sneaky argument for giving Lebron the MVP over Harden. No matter who is having the best season, Lebron fanboys like Colin will make spurious arguments in order to argue for Lebron. He is trying to equate best player with MVP, which we all know is NOT what the MVP award was designed for! Harden deserved the MVP award last year and didn't get it. Colin is basically saying that if you robbed him of an MVP last year to give it to Westbrook, why not do it again this year and give the MVP award to Lebron? That's basically what he just said, but in a nicer way.

Jordan Jenkins Theres various articles you can read. Type in Michael Jordan stat pads. In all honesty, anyone that puts up gaudy numbers stat pads. I think the world "Valuable" is an inaccurate term for what the award represents. Lebron is unquestionably the most valuable player in the league at this moment for his team but the MVP is supposed to be given to the player whose having the best season while elevating his team to success, and that's clearly Harden as his stats are insane and his team is sitting at the top of the much tougher Western Conference. Lebron's stats are insane but his team is underachieving, being the 4th seed in a Conference that he should be able to steam roll.

I'm so sick of this thing with the media not telling the FULL STORY!!!!! Last year Westbrook also LED THE LEAGUE in scoring along with averaging a triple double with mediocre teammates.... That OKC roster was terrible when KD left.... This year OKC brought in Paul George & Melo which raised expectations of the TEAM & the TEAM underachieved heavily they clinched a playoff spot with 2 games left in the season & it was possible they wouldn't make it at all so how is that a top MVP candidate?
@DaTruthHurtzzzz6 жыл бұрын
Last year Westbrook averaged a triple double since like November and kept it going since then and he had crazy 50 point games and won during the crunch time games last year with an amazing performance . Especially the 50pt triple double with the game winner in Denver that Eliminated them from the playoffs last year that sealed the mvp voting. This year he hasn’t had any high scoring games, 40 points at max and he actually had help. And ontop of all that he didn’t average a triple double until literally the 82nd game. Last year he was averaging it since like his 20th game

To start there: I'm a Westbrook fan and I never considered him top3 for MVP the whole season. Here's why: - OKC's team this year is arguably better than last year (which increases expectations and makes 48 wins not very impressive despite a tougher West; furthermore it makes his assist numbers less impressive despite Melo and PG shooting horrible at times) - Westbrook is arguably less clutch than last year. He's still winning the Thunder games in the 4th but not in that ridiculous fashion with a lot of 3's and game winners - Westbrook's overall game is still spectacular, but a little less than last year when his fastbreaks were 'get to the hole no matter what" - Though Russ is clearly better on defense this season, he struggled from 3 and from the free throw line - The competition this year is much better: 1) Harden is clearly better this season on both ends of the floor and - unlike last season when his team had far and away the better roster instead of just a little bit better this year - winning record is a big big argument for him this year. 2) LeBron has played all 82 games and despite a bad month he's been ridiculous throughout the other games. 3) Anthony Davis has taken over Kawhi's role as MVP candidate. 4) Kyrie, Durant, Giannis, DeRozan, Lillard, even Embiid and Curry if he had played more games - there's plenty of guys to compete with Russ. I'd take Westbrook over some of them regarding the whole season but some got a case to be level or ahead of Russ. Could find another aspect or two but I think the point is clear. There's plenty of reasons for Russ to be voted where he is despite having 'the same stats' than last year at first glance. Not surprised a stat watcher like you who doesn't watch actual games gets confused, Colin
@yazzur83046 жыл бұрын
t's quite funny how Cowherd recently made the argument that we're hypocrites for liking Simmons so much who's good in the east vs not liking Lonzo who's in the west, yet here he is actually saying people are just bored for calling Harden, who's avg 30 points and leading Houston to 65-17 in the west the MVP are just '' bored '' for overlooking LeBron who's in avg 25 points in the east

I always love your takes Colin. You have a different take than everyone in the media. I think your one of the best on your intellect alone.

I think Collin forgot that Russ was averaging a triple double all season and yet James Harden was in the lead for MVP until the last month of the season. In the last 6 weeks or so of the season Russell shot 2 buzzer beating walk-off game winners, as well as 2 or 3 other game winning shots. Its because Russ averaged a triple double, was the league scoring champion, 2nd in assists, won 47 games on a team where Kyle Singler, Semaj Christon, and Norris Cole were getting significant minutes, AND was clutch doing it (one of the clutchest seasons ever). This year is different because he has better team mates, he's only scoring 25 a game, and they've been disappointing.

I've never agreed more with Colin about the whole Westbrook MVP thing. It's amazing that he could actually average a triple double in back to back years.

My favorite part of this bit is so subtle. “If Westbrook gets 16 rebounds tonight, and he WILL....” He’s been so adamant that Westbrook is hunting stats and is a stat padder. Best part? Westbrook did it as if 16 rebounds just happens for a point guard. What a coincidence that he got the most rebounds of his career the night he needed it for his average smh

Colin makes a good point. It’s more impressive this year since it’s something that’s new/historical. People just saw triple double and voted for Westbrook.

Westbrook crushes both off them in stats.

The triple doubles didn't win Russ the MVP. It was a 1A and 1B race till the end. What won Russ the MVP was all of his game heroics.

This is the first time I can ever say that I 100% agree with everything he said.

Main point he's missing is that Russell actually has a team behind him and can win without him now, last year, there's no way they make the playoff without him. this is the main reason why he isn't considered the Most Valuable Player.
@brettmarcinkiewicz61576 жыл бұрын
well he also lead the league in scoring, I think that was the most impressive part about his season last year. It really wouldn't have been that impressive if he averaged a triple double if it's 15 pts 10 rb 10 ast. but the fact that he did that and scored so many points and also WON is why.

OMG I still remember his episode LAST YEAR when he said something like it, Russ winning MVP because of his trip-dubs, will be stupid if he repeats the triple-double and won't get the MVP next (this) season.

"Oscar only did it once." Triple doubles weren't kept up with back then. Oscar was 1 rebound or 1 assist away from averaging 4 straight triple doubles. You think if it was a stat, he wouldn't have went for those extra things? Oscar is the king of the triple double.

Here is another fact Jevon Carter of WVU has been disputed to be a second round draft pick when He has the most rounded stats of any NCAA player. He was the first major conference player to reach 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 300 steals!!! www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-02-24/west-virginias-jevon-carter-becomes-first-major-conference

Last year Westbrook averaged a triple double after losing his best teammate. This year he repeated it (so not historic anymore, since he's already done it before), after getting two terrific teammates. And even though he can now play with PG and Melo, his team lost almost as many games as last year.
