Colin Cowherd you make great points though. Just sticking to the facts. I'm a fan of Westbrook... I truly believe he wants to win SO bad, but he has to learn how to make other people around him better. That's been his Achilles heel his while career.

I agree with you 100 percent. I've been telling people that KD left because Westbrook is a me first, ego-centric, ball hog. I would tell Westbrook to trust the players around him and don't carry the whole burden of being the only superstar on your team.

this was simply poetic how colin broke down westbrook's 58 point game...i watched that game & when he got back in the game in the 4th he shot 6 times on 6 possessions its like everybody on the team scared to tell this guy stop shooting so much even the coach & the only time he did pass was to get the assists he needed to keep the triple double streak alive i now see why KD left this clown

Dwayne Chess hmm...what was this vid about? Ah yes the fact that Westbrook is bringing his team down when he goes for all them threes and that he should stop being all about him and not shoot that many bc he ain't a great 3 pt shooter
@chriswhit18cw
@chriswhit18cw 8 жыл бұрын
I'm am a diehard Thunder fan and will always support Westbrooks case for MVP. But my game plan would involve westbrook passing the ball more in those close game situations. He only had 5 assists last night. When he has less than 10 assists, they normally lose. There was a play last night, I dont remember the exact time but I know it was the 4th, when westbrook tossed the rock to Oladipo for a three and he drained it, that's what needs to be happening more, Russ needs to trust his teammates. THe only bad thing, its hard to trust your teammates when your the 30th or 31st best, or worst, 3pt shooting team in the league
@curtismynameheard4628
@curtismynameheard4628 8 жыл бұрын

@chriswhit18cw
@chriswhit18cw 8 жыл бұрын
Exactly, he doesn't have many guys to count on, Morrow was a good 3pt reliablity when it came down to it but he wasn't no Kyrie, Oladipo is good but again, when it comes down to it, not too reliable. And the bench is terrible. Westbrook and the other starters will have them up by almost 20 and when the bench comes out, they have them losing by 20.

As I've seen several people in these comments mention already, I'll reiterate: Harden never said get me out of here. He was traded to Houston in one of the biggest heists in NBA history (right after the Boogie Cousins trade). Kevin Durant made a weak move. Colin says KD is better off, but seriously, >99% of players who would leave their current teams to play for Golden State would be better off. Golden State was great without KD so it'd make sense he'd "flourish" once he got there. His new team is stacked. Only legitimate argument that could be made would be for Ibaka because he's found his niche. Scott Brooks had the 2nd seed in the WEST several times whereas he's 3rd in the weak East.

Colin, I saw this stat on Dead spin. Credit to them but I think you should see this. If Russell Westbrook were to play in all his remaining 18 games of the season while somehow never scoring another point, never grabbing another rebound, and never dishing another assist, his 2016-17 stat line would work out to 25.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists. Westbrook is awesome sir.

1. Westbrook is a superstar who brings it every game, every play. 2. Has played every game this year. 3. Is leading the league in scoring. 4. Is averaging a triple double for the season. People are really underestimating this. If it was that easy, more players would be doing it. 5. He's the only allstar on that team. No one else there is sniffing allstar status. And he still has them in the playoff chase. Give Westbrook his props already.

Certainly some jumps in logic...Harden was traded when he demanded a higher salary...Jackson wanted to be a primary ball-handler...Durant was ring-chasing to the best team in the league at the time...Ibaka was traded for a superbly productive rookie and Westbrook's backcourt running-mate...Scott Brooks is not a good coach but lucked into healthy John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter riding a hot streak from last year.

Hate to say it, but Colin is right today. Been a OKC fan for quite awhile but this game today is probably one of the most mind boggling games. The team barely got touches, RW just keeps bringing it up and shooting blanks. It's pretty frustrating to see that the team is literally standing there with Adams screening and RW shooting. The other 3 just stands there blankly. RW, stop this nonsense. I miss the old days in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 where close games were so intense that had me on the edge of my seat rooting for anyone on the team to get a play off. This whole season, didn't have that feeling at all.

Harden, Ibaka, and Jackson were all traded they didn't "leave", Jackson's the only one who had issues with the Thunder and he burned bridges with the entire locker room and coaching staff not just Westbrook. Durant's the only one who actually left. I still don't think Durant had a problem with Westbrook as much as he just really wanted to have 3 all star teammates and win an easy championship.

80% of Westbrook fans are band wagoners who only cheer for him because Kd left him or are kd haters.

I love watching these videos and most of the time I agree with you, but after watching 3:55 I have some thoughts. Durant was always going to have success or "flourish" at golden state considering their roster. Harden wanted to stay in OKC but the front office didn't want to pay him. Lastly, Ibaka and Reggie were traded.

Love the show Colin. You are my favorite to listen to. Could you make these clips so we can see the final play you talked about with Westbrook? We saw the interview, but I wanted to see the play you were referring to. I didnt have a chance to see the game and wanted to know the play and see it. I would tell Westbrook to trust his teammates more. Harden didnt trust his team last year, he does this year, and look at the stats. Harden also is running PG which is a better fit, but his team is thriving while OKC is barely keeping head above water.

Harden didn't want to leave OKC. OKC traded him and he teared up afterward. He still wonders what could have been. What are you saying Colin?

durant is thriving because of the SYSTEM. Look at warriors with mark jackson...2nd round playoff team. Look at them with steve kerr before durant..same team different system, championship contender. Put westbrook in a system like golden state and with better role players and watch him thrive. If the coach is only drawing up simple screen and roles and you have a bunch of teammates clogging the paint, what other option does westbrook have than to score 40-50 everynight?

you guys need to youtube "Russell Westbrook padding rebounding stats" and watch. it's remarkable the lengths the team will go to in order for him to attain his stupid triple doubles. it's starting to make sense why KD left.

Obviously harden and Jackson are gonna perform better on other teams because they grew as players. They were young in OKC and didn't want to leave but got traded.
Are Russell Westbrook's triple-doubles important or is he just a stat stuffer? | THE HERD
