Well, Utah did beat 5-1 and #17th ranked (at the time) ASU 21-3. That's the reason why ASU is likely not ranked anymore (they'd be 8-4 instead of 7-5 with two top 25 wins (over both of Oregon and Utah)). And that ASU team did beat Oregon, so, maybe they're a pretty decent team? They also beat 7-5 BYU, who beat USC (Utah's only loss), 11-1 Boise State (the Broncos' only loss), and they won @ 7-5 Tennessee (who finished 3rd in the SEC East behind Georgia and Florida). Utah also beat 7-5 Cal, who won @ Washington and @ Ole Miss. Just because they don't have "ranked" wins doesn't mean that they don't have "good" wins. Perhaps some of those aforementioned teams WOULD BE RANKED if they hadn't taken additional losses to Utah? Also, why is nobody talking about Oklahoma's LOSS?!? They lost to a currently unranked Kansas State team! At least Utah's loss is to a ranked USC team. However, both K-State and USC are 8-4. It would be awesome if those two could meet up in say the Alamo Bowl to decide which team of Utah and Oklahoma really has the "better" loss.

Steven Adams right, OU wouldve has 2 titles if they just had a decent defense the last 2yrs. Now they actually have a good defense 26th in the nation while playing 7 teams ranked in the top 40 on offense. Even the “Elite” defenses in the SEC can’t stop Big 12 offenses and damn sure can’t stop OU.

Utah played Washington who was AP ranked 14 in wk2, 23 in wk 3, 22 in wk4, 17 in wk5, 15 in wk6, 25 in wk8; Washington St was ranked 22 in wk2, 20 in wk3, 19 in wk4; CAL was 23 in wk4, 15 in wk5; ASU was 24 in wk4, 20 in wk6, 18 in wk7, 17 in wk8, 24 in wk9, and lost to USC who was ranked 24 in wk3, 21 in wk5, 25 in wk14, 24 in wk15; and Oregon has been ranked high all season and was #6 until 2 weeks ago. Also to note BYU even though they have had QB changes that have cost them some games have beat USC, Tennessee, and Boise State and had received votes for the AP top 25 earlier in the season. The USC loss to the Trojans at the Coliseum without Zack Moss for most of that game. They lost by 7 points and it was mainly because of uncharacteristic mistakes. ASU was ranked 18 in the AP when Utah played them. Some of the teams were ranked the week before Utah played them, but dropped out of the top 25 the week before the game. So I think it is a BS argument for people to say that Utah played no ranked teams when at different points in the season they played teams that were ranked in the top 15-25 either on game day or that had be ranked there 1 week prior to playing. They will be finishing off the season against the 13th ranked team. To note, Utah beat everyone on their schedule by about 29 pt avg except the WA Huskies at Husky stadium when the Huskies were still in the hunt for the North division and were playing good and to the USC trojans at the Coliseum. The thing about the PAC 12 is it is a very balanced conference. Rather than having 3 juggernauts at the top and the rest creampuffs, there are a lot of good teams that cannibalize each other throughout the season which makes it difficult to go undefeated.

Yeah, as a U of M fan, the criticism Harbaugh faces even from our own fan base is staggering. I don't think in the history of college football any coach has ever been expected to walk into the situation he walked into, with the arch-rival being arguably the best they've been in their program's history, and expect a miracle, and to be considered a complete failure for not converting said miracle into reality. Fact is maybe one or two teams can beat OSU. Michigan is far and away better with Harbaugh than any other coach they've been with since Carr. Nothing lasts forever, and OSU will come back down to earth, just look at Bama. I've actually seen people calling for Saban's job. Get real people.

I like how people act like Harbaugh walked into nothing and rebuilt the program. Brady Hoke wasn't great at winning games but his recruiting was decent. They had 5 star guys playing for MI in 2014. Fact is uncle Jimmy was brought in to shower the program with titles and prestige. Has the team improved under his leadership? Absolutely. Has he accomplished anything he was slated to do by this time in his career? Not even close. Dantonio took over the Spartans and during his fifth year he was reaching new heights for the program. To be fair though the Big 10 is a different animal these days than when Mark came aboard.

No one is giving Georgia a chance but if they win they will say LSU didn’t care because they already had a playoff spot 😪

Winning ones conference should be a requirement,the top 4 should be the BEST IN THEIR CONFERENCE 1) LSU ( they have beat 4 teams in the top 10) best in the SEC. 2) Ohio St best in B1G. 3) Clemson best in ACC. 4) Utah best in PAC 12 5) Memphis yes this team has a SEC win , their only loss is to Temple by 2 points at that time Temple was undefeated in thier conference 6)Oklahoma 7) Georgia 8)Boise State 9) Appalachian State , I know many will say strength of schedule . But as Alabama always points out "we are not responsible for who we are scheduled to play " So I'm using that same argument and saying these teams should be rewarded for having a better record. 10) Baylor

The Baylor placement makes no sense with this logic then.

Justin Fields of Ohio State has exact number of TDs (47) as Burrow, with only 1 interception, and he achieved that EFFICIENTLY with half the number of attempts in passing (by comparison to Burrow), and by playing FAR LESS time than Burrow [in most games, only one half of games], so why on earth would so many White "analysts" for ESPN and others claim that Burrow will win the Heisman for sure!!! Is that because Burrow is their last White hope against those Blacks who win it more often lately?! (I am White)

I know OU isn't an "elite" team this year but until one conference plays another you don't know what you have. LSU only beat a poor Texas team by 7. That's right! 7!!! OU hasn't won in the playoff, understood but in recent bowls they have beaten Alabama & Auburn and should have beat Georgia a few years ago. Colin says the Big 12 plays "flag football". Now that LSU & Alabama are scoring so many points against SEC teams it is because their offense is so great, not that the vaunted SEC defenses are "not so great". I agree that the SEC "top teams", not all but the top have been the best in last 7 years or so but every year is different. There could easily be some upsets this weekend. Everyone be honest, don't be haters. I love college football and to see the players giving it their all in America's favorite sport. Let the games begin.

New playoff layout. 6 teams..winners of the power 5 conference are in the playoff. The sixth team can be any other team. How does that sound?

The "Big 12 can't play defense narrative" is old and isn't true. Oklahoma hasn't been doing the Big 12 any favors with their awful defensive play, but they are finally turning it around with Grinch.
@jamesmeyer95744 жыл бұрын
Andrew Folkmann agreed. This argument about defense was true back in 2015-16, but not now. The big 12 has improved a lot since then. The big ten and sec are still deeper though

Washington did better against Bama in first half anyway.Pic 6 put Bama up 17-7 at half and the D kept it 17-7 til 4th when Bo Scarbrough hit his prime....UW O did nothing though. With Peterson leaving it will be tough to win PAC 12 N.

Browning had surgery a week after that game, from the hit he took against USC 5 weeks earlier. Funny how creampuff the SEC really is. Their weak 11 games every year. Auburn played us and the Ducks but wouldn't dare come to the coast for a repeat. Jimmy is a great recruiter and if Eason stays? Next year could be a final 4...

Colin Cowherd is wrong to judge Oklahoma for losing in the playoffs, because that's the exact same thing Ohio State went through during the BCS era for losing championships against LSU and Florida, it took years to recover from that, because they were judged for that.
