Rolando Rodriguez Point to Magics 28/7/10 season... or his 30/9/10... Westbrook the last 3 years goes head up with any point guard.
@wcsstudios18 жыл бұрын
Aside from 1983-84 where Magic averaged 4.6 TOs (and mind you, that went along with 13.1 assists) in 67 games, he never averaged more than 4.1 TOs in a season and that was with the "Showtime" Lakers that ran a grueling pace where every possession was a fast break. Westbrook has already surpassed 4.1 TOs per game twice and is on pace to surpass that again this year.

Averaging 10 assists a game doesn't mean Russ shares the ball when his usage percentage is in the 30s and the Thunder's offense is pretty much just let him do whatever he wants and jack up 23 shots a game. His assists are coming because he'll either let the shot clock run down before finally passing the ball, or the defenses start closing in on him and force him to pass the ball. He's not getting guys involved or creating opportunities for the whole offense to get going, he's playing to satisfy only himself. And that kind of selfish play is why one of the best scorers on the planet didn't want to play with him.
@name83118 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. His assists avg is misleading. He is a ball stopper. No one likes to play with a ball dominant guard. I really don't know why people think he's so great.

Russel saying he doesn't watch film just proves what he is. Head strong, and possibly hard to change, mentality-wise. You learn from watching film. You learn what your weaknesses are, your mistakes, your opponents tendencies as well, and gives a chance for reflection on how you play. CP3 does this a lot. That's why after he got injured and lost a lot of his athleticism he was still one of the leagues top PGs. Obviously, Russ doesn't care about anyone or anything and does what he does and believes his effort and will, will get them to where they want to go. Probably main reason KD left..

Colin is right though. You're never going to win a title with Russell Westbrook as your best player. He's a great player but his decision making is poor and it has cost his team a lot especially in the playoffs. The reason Westbrook's numbers are so insane (except for his rebounds) are because of his ridiculous usage %. Give CP3, Kawhi, Lebron, KD, Curry etc the ball that much and they're putting up similar numbers but they don't have the ball in their hands that much because they know that's not how you win in the NBA. He's wrong to compare him to Steve Francis and Marboury because he's clearly better but i think it's pretty obvious Westbrook was the biggest reason KD left.

Nick needs to understand that in a 48minute NBA game, getting assists doesn't mean you aren't hogging the ball. In reality if you're averaging a triple double, you probably have the ball the whole game. Thats the problem.

Also if you think Russ is the better player between the two Nick, you are delusional. KD won like 3 consecutive scoring titles in OKC with Westbrook taking double the amount of shots. When is the last time a PURE point guard won a championship? Chris Paul - No Steve Nash - No Jason Kidd - Barely John Stockton - No
@muhammadaliqazi33068 жыл бұрын
It was more of an 80s thing than anything - Magic and Isiah are the best examples of that. Also does 08 Rondo count? Pure point guards are meant to be pass first players that make plays right ? Rondo in 08 was close to that if not just that. Chauncey Billups? He made plays all the time but made timely shots so that one is kind of shady. Tony Parker? Same thing as Billups tbh Dennis Johnson?
@raphaelbanks3158 жыл бұрын
I'm from Detroit and Chauncey was not a pure point guard. He was Mr. Big Shot. Ironically Russell Westbrook is basically Chauncey Billups on steroids minus the turnovers. He basically invented the pull transition 3. Isiah Thomas? No disrespect but are you new to basketball. Literally, no exaggeration but Isiah Thomas got the exact same complaints about shooting too much. Actually Westbrooks career may ended up like Isiah's. He will eventually win like two rings and he will finally be truely apprectiated. He was the anti-Magic Johnson. Rondo was the 4th option and its been like 30 years since a PURE POINT led a team to a finals much less a championship as the primary option on offense.
@thedancinglobster8 жыл бұрын
raphael banks it has to be a Steph or kyrie like mix you have to be able to be a threat to score at will and be able to make everyone around you better but playing a 90's 2 guard or 05-08 Kobe doesn't win them either you either miss the playoffs or barely go now the last one to go all the way was A.I. And he only won one game.
@raphaelbanks3158 жыл бұрын
You can't hold Kobe up for three years. He has 5 rings. If he managed to produced more he would have 6-8 titles. You can't name not one productive player on that Lakers team inbetween those times. Also thats a bad example because if you look at the West, they have been dominate for about 20 years. Thats not a fault of Kobe or RW for that matter, if he was in the East he might have advance to at least one Finals like A.I. I think that is what Russell is suffering from, the Western conference is just to good. If RW was in the East he would give LBJ a run for his money if not steal the "crown" even with his current playing style. It just to much competition on a nightly bases out West. Even Lebron in his prime wouldnt have a strangle hold on the West and he controls the ball just as much as RW, as the de facto point guard.

John Wall has carried the Wizards since he got there. Bradley Bust isn't helping him whatsoever.
@MDbaseball38 жыл бұрын
John wall isn't ball centric. Maybe he turns the ball over too much but he easily averages 10 assists a game.
@briarbradshaw94178 жыл бұрын
Assists doesn't necessarily mean sharing the ball. Sharing the ball means if a guy is hot I'll get him the ball even if it means that I get less shots, it means this guy is better than me so he's gonna be the 'go to' guy no matter how much my ego demands that I prove I'm just as good, it means getting the whole team into an offensive flow and rhythm.

I feel for Colin. That's the point. KD would've stayed in OKC if Westbrick is not selfish. Watch Westbrick's interview about his self, he said he doesn't want to be just 2nd

Absolutely disagree with players not wanting to play with Westbrook. Not saying your point is wrong, but it's like people saying they don't wanna play with Kobe, you don't wanna play with greatness? If I'm a Anthony Davis or player like that do you not look at what has happened with Steven Adams and think how much you could dominate with Westbrook driving and kicking you the ball? Adams isn't a star but he's turning into a solid inside guy and we can agree is no where near an Anthony Davis. Maybe if you're a forward or another guard you don't like it but if I'm a big man I'm loving the idea of playing with Russell
@weballinboy15468 жыл бұрын
As far as Kevin Durant leaving is concerned, some players just can't coexist. Not comparing these two because in my eyes it's not even close as far as winning, talent, etc but look at Kobe and Shaq. You look at the talent and the success and think why on earth would Shaq want out? Some players just play with styles that don't exist well with other superstars it's not a bad thing it's just how it is
