I like Brad but I wish he would just go SLIGHTLY a little bit more in depth when it comes to his analysis of games and what makes them good/bad. He has a tendency to just say, “This part was cool…” about a feature or whatever and I find myself wanting a bit more. He’s definitely really good at getting stuff out of other people, though.

btw before people freak out about the love for the ps3- remember could play ps1 games, psn store, was region free which meant us europeans could finally play xenogears, parasite eve and ff tactics on it AND came with a blu-ray player which meant HD movies to watch as well. Persona 3, uncharted 1-3, metal gear solid 4, the last of us, god of war 3, ratchet and clank, ni no kuni AND real unique gems on it like "fat princess"- many great memories!

No. It isn’t. It’s not nearly as good as SNES or PSX. PSX has the greatest library of any console. Everything PS2 had that was great was born on the original, except Sly and Jak and Dexter. The original God of War trilogy was never great to begin with. Same with Shadow of the Colossus. Way overrated.

Props to Colin for sticking up for the 2600 after Brad dismissed it. I was born in 77 and got a 2600 in 82, so it was my first console, and it was magical. I know many of these games don’t hold up as well as what came after, but the 2600 is where it all began. I’m a huge fan and the disrespect the console gets from most millennial and younger gamers is a real bummer.

You made good cases for your console list, even if I disagree with a few of them. The biggest miss for me is keeping Xbox 360 out of the GOAT tier. It basically perfected and codified the online experience we now treat as standard today. Outside of the PC, I dare say it has the best suite of online multiplayer games of any platform ever? Combined with a GREAT catalog of games, both exclusive and the superior versions of multiplatforms, and the baseline for the best controller design in the industry to this day.

Small tip. Don't do cardio after a heavy lift. It will limit your recovery and your growth. Do cardio if you want for a warm up. Or have a cardio day.

As an ex-bodybuilder and someone who works out daily, this is nonsense. Cardio is incredibly important to cutting fat, second only to diet. Excessive cardio is bad for recovery, a half hour of running is not. Sleep is also incredibly important to recovery. Cardio is the most important thing you can do for your health.

Depends how you look at it. All the top PC fps came to ps1 at the time, doom & doom 2, quake, medal of honor, duke nukem etc. I'd say they're all better than Goldeneye for my tastes, but they're not really playstation games.

So many hidden gems, first party and third party titles. Like you said, it somehow flipped the gen. It narrowly beat the Xbox 360 in the end. I think TLOU, No No Kuni and Uncharted 3 and maybe even Beyond Two Souls helped that a lot. I’d say PS3, Vita and Gamecube would top my list.

2:22:16 colin is right, that Bahamut fight in particular might be the greatest boss battle I ever played (started with gaming back in 1990 or 1991 on my sisters nes) you duke it out as two big godzillas, which later turn into a panzer dragoon gameplay flying up towards the sky as the phoenix, and in the third stage you are up in space, above the planet fighting like in zone of enders against Bahamut ..... eye candy 10/10, immersion 10/10 and gameplay 9/10 just a fucking insane boss fight.

I will die on the hill of FF8 being one of the best and most misunderstood FF game. Once you have deep knowledge of the Scaling and Junction system you understand that while enemies level with you the magic you can draw and items you can get also scale making you even more powerful. The ability to break the game with Cards/Card Mod is fun and allows for an alternate progression to the point where if you know what you are doing you can get Squalls final weapon and all the best spells halfway through Disc 1. It is by no means for everyone but so many people handwave it away due to the scaling without appreciating the intent and complexity of its systems.

It was the first FF I played, I had to restart it because I didn't know how to play it properly and was running away from everything, I hit a wall at the first Rajin/Fujin fight. When I started again actually levelling up and doing fights and junctioning was the way to play. Having said that I hit another wall late into Disc 3 and never beat the game. I was really fond of it though, it has an amazing soundtrack, great characters and plenty of twists and turns along the way. The story ends up being extremely epic!

Setting the "there can be only one goat" aside i find some serious problems with the console list. If within the same generation one clearly beats the other it has to rank higher. And if within a company line-up one clearly beats the other it must also rank higher. Dreamcast was forgettable in its gen so all other that gen must be higher etc. And xbox 360 was their best gen so all other xbox consoles must rank lower etc.

Considering most 3rd party games eventually came to both, early Xbox 360 was better than PS3, as the generation went on the PS3 surpassed it. I'd take a list of the Sony 1st party exclusives from that gen over Halo and Gears. I would give credit to Microsoft though for Xbox Live as that revolutionized the ways people interact with games

360 was a great console, but once ps3 started cooking it definitely had better exclusives. There are some killer 3rd party games I associate with 360, like Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Bioshock, but they were on both.

final fantasy 8 had a shitty fighting system where you basically ended up spamming summons (guardian forces) because they cost zero mp and defended you meanwhile AND the cards broke the game- you can get the best weapons on disc 1 and heck, I remember even trading in my bahamut card for 100 megaelixi- totally broken. BUT what a great love story, you feel sorry for laguna and julia until you realise what happends with their kids and understand sometimes something great come from a bad place and going back in time and changing someones fate/timeline because you arnt happy in the moment isnt the answere in the long run (you listening, you evil witch, ultemecia?)

Bro ff10 is top 5 easy. Lulu is mami, Kimahri's story is so good. The scenes can be jank, as far as voice acting. But yuna and tidus, man mid game tears and end game tear are fucking fr. Snes should definitely be Goat. I get the nes started so many series like megaman, castlevania, contra, etc.. but nes had a crap load of garbage games. Snes had banger after Banger. Way more memorable titles of all the series colin talked about. Snes is still the best nintendo console ever made but switch is getting up there as well. Switch would be a strong S tier. . N64 should be lower because besides the core titles being legendary it didnt have enough support. I would rank gamecube higher than n64.

Sega Genesis smoked the Super Nes in everything besides RPG and Plattformers! The Genesis destroyed the Super Nes in the sports categories and fast pace games! I know that all you Nintenards and americans always gonna wank over Super Nes! But for many of us growing up in the early 90s outside of america..Genesis or Sega Megadrive was number one and will always be! Therefore I am always gonna grade the Sega Megadrive higher then Super Nes!

Here is how it REALLY was for the ps2, gamecube, xbox and dreamcast, the ps2 had THE games of that generation, i literally knew nobody that ever talked me about the DVD capacities of the ps2, i didn´t even know that till the end i think, but was all about THE GAMES, many of those games didn´t age well but it´s like that show "Pimp my Ride" from MTV, you have to had lived in the 00´s to understand it, the GTA Clones for example, the racing and sports games, those were big, and of course the big hits, the dreamcast was big at launch cause it was impressive but then it dissapeared and nobody notice it, and the gamecube and xbox just felt like ps2 clones without the games people wanted, that was the problem of the side consoles and why everybody really wanted the ps2, plus even when it was weaker it had great graphics and was cheap and on ANY CRT you had amazing graphics, and you really couldn´t tell much from each other on a CRT not like with 4K Tvs and so on

The library of the PsP is amazing, ps1, ps2 and psp are the true golden age of playstation, after that it went downhill in my opinion, i´m not a fan of naughty dog and the new playstation games suck in my opinion, maybe the ps5 is at the level in the sense that got the ps4 library which is good, but got quantity, those previous consoles had quantity and quality for sure

Nintendo 3DS is the greatest system of all time. The game franchises - top quality games. The Mii features, Street Plaza sharing, AR gaming backwards compatibility and the eshop. The best all around console of all time.

@@nix2939 look at the first party library alone comparatively to each franchise...then 3rd parties your DS RPG ports may look nice. But look overall and eshop. DS falls short. Function and library nothing comes close.

Best thing Xbox One had going for it was the backwards compatibility compared to PS4. I think as a piece of hardware it was great, but yeah really no games that really distinguished it all compared to Sony.

You got all the expansions for ff mmo games , but no ff tactics, no ff theaterRythem, no ff Crystal chronicals. Not to mentions there is like fft 2, 3. Ff tactics is top 5 ff games easy. The story, the bosses, the mystery and intrigue. The game has the best job system and the best story. I would even say it's top 3 of all time. Play it if you haven't! ❤
