Jaffe is massively underestimating how much people don’t accept and no longer want to hear about transgender issues. However people feel about that is neither here nor there. The reality is that getting someone to ignore what they see in front of them is an almost impossible task and most people have been forced to play along under threat of cancellation or termination at work. Also, his point about why people don’t just explain their position on it like Colin did is ridiculous. People have been doing that for almost a decade and called every name under the sun for simply trying to say “this doesn’t make sense to me, and you’re asking me to accept it like it does”.

Jaffe says that ALL the time when Colin explains stuff to him and he has no other way out aside from admitting he is wrong, and we know he will never do that... The thing with politics is that most people just want to "win"/be right more than they want to discover and strive for what is true. I am only of the political mindset I am at now because I learned to accept being wrong on some things. It is hard to do at first, but once you realize there are various understandable reasons why you were uninformed and/or misinformed on something, you start to care more about what is true.

00:53:30 I have zero idea how Jaffe can say it’s bad to have, “past ideas of what kids can get in terms of gender affirmation” when these same kids can’t even drink, smoke, or get a tattoo legally so what gives you the right idea to change their sex forever when they haven’t fully matured sexually and mentally. Really boggles my mind that people think having this way of thinking is ok for minors that are still going through puberty.
@DavidJaffeGames8 күн бұрын
As the father of a trans son, I assure you: the vast majority of families are not waking up on Tuesday and going, 'Hey, Annie wants to be Mark so fuck it, let's go! It's what he wants!'...I- and other parents of trans kids- have explained this ad nauseum. At this point, your willingness to parrot the wedge issue political line become intentional ignorance. Educate yourself on the issue. It's not what you are being told.
@MrMalf-zh2ki8 күн бұрын
I agree. Do what you want with your body after you have reached maturity. The probability of it being just a confusion caused by puberty is too high to make life altering decisions like this when you are just a minor.
@echos93968 күн бұрын
@@DavidJaffeGames I have educated myself on the issue and the issue is that parents aren’t allowing kids to be kids anymore. I have zero problems if someone wants to be trans but wait until you’re at the legal age and mentally mature enough to do so for crying out loud. If my son told me that he wants to be a dinosaur at the age of 12 I’m not going to a doctor and recommend Scale implants. Let them decide what they want to do once they’ve reached full maturity and if they want to change their sex then have at it, this is the land of the free but let kids have a normal child hood before you do a permanent change on them that they might regret later on.

Transgender minors receiving gender affirming surgery is extremely rare. Like single digits per year. The problem with Harris and policies is that the ones they did talk about weren't appealing. More taxes on the wealthy doesn't help most people. Making small business loans easier to get doesn't help most people. And a tax credit for buying a home also doesn't help most people as they don't have the money to get a home in the first place!

Also, loans for small businesses don't help in an economy where small businesses are failing and the big mega corporations like Amazon and Walmart are getting preferential treatment. For example, during Covid all the small businesses were forced to shut down while these mega corporations got to continue operating as "essential". All that would happen with loans for small businesses is they would fail and the business owners would owe on a loan that they can't pay back.

I’ve never aligned with Colin politically, that’s fine, we don’t all have to agree on everything, but I feel like literally everything he’s said about Kamala (I’m 25 minutes in) applies to Trump, yet he’s not applying any of it in his direction. Massive, massive double standards early on in this episode, I’m kinda surprised by how heavy handed it is. I also disagree strongly that MAGA is going to become more powerful without Trump. I think without his character/gimmick, a ton of interest is going to evaporate. We’ll see, I guess.

You’re wrong, he stated numerous times Trump was a weak candidate it just underscores how truly pathetic Kamala was as a candidate
@616Entertainment10 күн бұрын
@@Cevans1992 He did say that, but I disagree, so I wasn't factoring that specific point into what I'm saying. I think Trump, based on his gimmick and apparent magnetism, is extremely strong for them. I don't see how anyone can argue that, unless they really think people are voting for policy and stance, which I don't think is all that true. I think many (not all) come out for Trump because he's loud, he's rude, and he's saying publicly what they say in private, and they enjoy that. When that goes away, I would wager a large group of people are going to feel like no one is talking to/for them again. Just my feelings on the subject. I'm not saying anyone is wrong or that anyone should agree with me. Just sharing my input as a listener and as an American.

@@616EntertainmentTrump actually had policies that appealed to the American people outside of murdering your own unborn child. Kamala had some policies outside of that but she barely talked about it and wasted her entire campaign on belittling Trump and talking about how she was Pro abortion. I think there's something to be said about people not being able to afford voting with their hearts when their wallets are hurting But, I think to assume that's a large factor of why the Democrats got trounced is missing something. I think the average American showed up to vote and they were saying no to basically everything the people in power have been pushing for the last decade. People are tired of it all, and broke on top of that.

Hello Constellation folks! Though I know many people are down on Jaffe, I greatly appreciate his perspective and the nuance he brings to the discussion. That said, I have to say in my home state of NJ, many people I know voted for Trump on social issues. Respectfully, many Christians showed up to vote and though neither candidate is ideal and both are flawed, one was really leaning towards a clear side-and it was the one who had told Christians they weren’t at the right rally. Much love and peace, love your shows.

Why all of a sudden is 4 people considered bad? Why all of a sudden do you feel the show needs to get shorter? So you’re saying all your previous episodes that ran long with 4 people were bad quality? For over 90 episodes since the start Constellation has always had 4 people and became a successful show. I truly believe the show is superior with 4 people. But I’m happy to see Colin back on! This wasn’t a bad episode. But I feel it would have been better with Chris on too.

1:29:30 - i disagree with colin here. I doubt trump knows that much more about government in his 2nd term than he did in his first term. Trump just represents people wanting to buck the establishment. Trump will surround himself with lackeys that are unlikely to make a better government
@TheNightMammothКүн бұрын
I think Jaffe and Dagan are vastly underrating how much the mainstream representatives and officials of the Democratic Party actually believe the fringe stuff like open borders and transgender sports participation, or are willing to be captured because of pressure from NGOs and liberal donors. I'm sure this is the same on the opposite side, but when Jaffe talks about how the sports thing is massively inflated issue and not common in the average person's lives, I think he is hugely underestimating how much the left push these policies and make public pronouncements about them. The advert that was so effective used Kamala Harris' own words from her presidential run in 2019. Everyone from her, to Joe Biden and the executive, to the party leadership like Nancy Pelosi, to prominent state side figures like Gavin Newsom, Gretchin Whitmer and Josh Shapiro, are universally on board with the most far left policies on this issue, and on others like immigration. And people see this, and they believe them, and even though there might not be controversy at their own kid's school yet, they see the spread and they are nervous about it. I actually firmly support a national consensus on this which balances the rights of trans people and the rights of women and girls, but it's likely that the Democrats will continue to lose on this issue if Republican messaging is clear and targeted if they remain all the way out on the fringe and refuse to come in.

Good conversation. I’m more moderate than Jaffe, but in no way would I have voted for Trump. From the way Colin speaks about Kamala - it feels like he views her similarly to how I view Vance. And I share Jaffe’s belief that Trump is very old, and (frankly) has lost more than a step. If something were to happen to him, Vance would be next in line. Which was something I wasn’t keen on. That coupled with Trump’s “weave” and obvious ethical issues were why I couldn’t go that way. Hopefully, next time around there’s better candidates from both parties. Cause as CM pointed out, these were weak candidates.
