I lost brain cells listening to Colin and Dustin discuss the legality of emulation. The short version is: Emulation is legal, Piracy is not. Nintendo has a studio dedicated to emulation (NERD). Those NSO games don't run natively on Switch. They're emulated.

Its not as simple as that, a lot of emulation of modern hardware requires you to do something illegal to get the emulator to work. The mechanic is put in place SPECIFICALLY to make it illegal. There is a difference between emulating NES, and a Nintendo Switch - one requires you to break encryption on licensed material, which does not fall under the safety of the previous case law that allowed Emulators to be considered legal. But if you disagree, go open your torrent and keep some Switch cryptographic keys constantly seeding, then advertise it, document, it, stream it, put it online, and @ Nintendo with all that. Cheers!

​@@mangaas I was just trying to keep it short, but yes you are correct. I also encourage everyone to look into the SEGA v. Accolade and Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. v. Connectix Corp. cases to learn a little more about the legality of emulation. Many people (including Dustin it seems) are under the impression that Nintendo is the only one who wants to curb emulation, but history shows that Sony and SEGA's recklessness in the courtroom is what established the precedents that protect emulation today. I'd even argue that Sony's hesitance to go after emulation is the result of their previous legal blunders, but that's just my opinion. Cheers yourself!

I have my PS5 Pro and I haven't hooked up for some of the reasons Colin has given and other reasons, except unlike Colin I have a backlog that includes PS5 Pro enhanced games. To be clear; when I bought my BASE PS5 I didn't instantly hook up. I can see into the future and I won't be instantly hooking up my PS6 either. It doesn't necessarily mean I'm not excited.

Im actually impressed to see what seems to be consensus in the comments. Ive felt for a long while that the show was too long because it wastes my time with poop stories and vague american politics for 2 hours before it gets to the genuinly insightful final hour of Playstation coverage. Playstation has had a slew of great diverse releases this year and a brand new console model. Fans are noticing the lack of entusiasm and thoroghness reviewing these products. Dustin is the most consistent playing and describing games. Colin plays the retro inspired JRPGs but waxes nostalgic comparing them to the glory days. Chris plays the shooters but, if its not Bungie, barely has an opinion beyond a brief gameplay/physics overview. Its time for a shift. The show needs to be refocused. More dedication to games discussion. When Colin does put his journo hat on and make some calls its riveting. Still love the show. I just find myself skipping the first half. My assumption is everybody across every show spreads the field too thin. Hope to see a return to form.

My knee jerk reaction to a multiplayer Horizon game is no fucking way am I going to play it. I’ve beat both Horizon games, but almost out of spite. I only bought the second game because Sony has so few first party releases. I had fun with it, but I’m not a hardcore fan by any means. I can’t even justify the Zero Dawn $10 upgrade. So no, I’m not excited for this live service Horizon. I would have preferred the Last of Us multiplayer game. Edit: I still have some faith in Sony, but not as much as I did when this generation started.

The data transfer process for PS5 Pro was super easy for me. Took about 2 hours to move all the games on my SSD, profile settings, and other media I had on my PS5. And then I just moved the additional SSD I had purchased from the old PS5 to the Pro. Had no problems and it was very nice!

Love you guys but pretty piss poor PS5 Pro coverage so far. I understand you guys don’t get products or games early but once a new console releases in the wild I would expect all 3 of you to have some opinions on it. Also I know Dustin brought up this games can still see pretty significant frame rate improvements without needing an actual ps5 pro patch. Metaphor runs at a locked 60 on pro but chugs on base ps5. So it makes no sense to leave it in the box. And I know Dustin is waiting on 30th anniversary so I’m not blaming him really just pretty anticlimactic waiting to hear thoughts after it’s been out for a week and this is what we get.

I still feel it was well ahead of its time in terms of overall scope (world building, character depth and dialogue, massive intriguing environments, hours of cutscenes, etc.) for a game released in early 2002! @ different people will have different priorities. A turn-based rpg in which majority of narrative is told via still images with texts and anime fmvs js not a game in which fps matters all that much to me. I care much more that the dungeon design and environmental puzzle design of Metaphor can be so dull and tedious. That should have bn better And the game’s graphics can be an eyesore at times But overall an amazing fantastic game. Its really weird imp to care about frames for a game like Metaphor

It’s weird to me that Colin can understand how putting Xbox exclusives on PlayStation hurts and devalues Xbox but when it comes to PlayStation bringing games to switch or other platforms he says he has no problem with it. I know it’s a slightly different type of gamer and if it’s older games it’s a little different but it will still have a deleterious effect over time. And with Xbox gone who do you think will be there direct competition? Nintendo. I think if you care about the overall long term health of PlayStation as a console manufacturer you should not want them putting games on other systems.

I'm definitely thrilled to not have wasted a penny on the PS5 pro. The PS5 still gives me everything I need, and that may partially be just from the games that I play. All the games that I love run at 60fps, it's not like this is the Xbox series where the majority of their first party games run with an embarrassing 30FPS cap. Plus I would need the drive and the stand, which would put it at around $900. And absolute joke, for such a tiny increase in visual fidelity.

Moved the NVME ssd i bought for base 5 to pro and everything was ready instantly. Strangely i didnt have to download any saves, either, just start a game and it loaded up the latest save. Easiest upgrade ever, just had to install NVME SSD and plug in external PS4 SSD.

Transferring data from PS5 to PS5 is very easy and doesn't take that long. Was also able to easily put my extra SSD in and my disc drive, took 30 minutes. Metaphor will still benefit quite a bit from the Pro's power.

If you have an additional ssd in your ps5 you can copy all your games to it, install it in the pro and as long as you log in with the same psn account they just work. Quickest and easiest way to transfer games over

I'm keen for the Mass Effect show. I played the trilogy for the first time last year and the whole time I was going through it I kept thinking, "this would make a great tv series." I'd love for my dad and step dad to experience the universe and characters but they don't play games. (step dad especially is obsessed with sci-fi in general, he'd love it I'm sure)

The write in about COD’s visual identity and tone is the same thing i’ve been thinking for years. I wish COD would let you uninstall all the cosmetics and replace it with ‘mil-sim’ style skins like the early COD games, it would also save drive space. Some of the early games did it well by giving your character a specific skin based on one of your perks.

Master Chief Collection is pretty much the only Halo game I don't expect to go to Playstation at this point (it'd likely be a nightmare to port and they are done supporting it/are remaking CE).

That's a good point 🤔 but on the other hand it's also the one that makes the most sense to go to PS. Plus, they've made it work on PC at this point anyway, and the PS5 and Series Consoles are both pretty close to PCs now.
