This movie is a mystical drama and these "critics" simply didn't get it. His letters actually did reach Love, Time and Death (they were not actors) and the movie revealed this in the surprise ending when Death spoke to his wife sitting next to her before their daughter died. They didn't pick up on how Love intentionally lured his friend into the studio. They didn't notice at the end where Will Smith looked back and only he could see the trio, not his wife, because she had previously learned the lesson of "Collateral beauty" and no longer needed their guidance. They criticized Will Smith for not exhibiting any personality through most of the movie when the intention was that he walk around in a zombie-like bereavement state (I've been there, done that). It seems as if these critics watched maybe half of the movie while half asleep. Either that or everything just went right over their heads.
@johnpalacios93927 жыл бұрын
The critics needed to see Helen Mirren create a zombie army. The critics needed to see Jacob Latimore use a time machine. The critics needed to see Keira Knightly have all of New York obey here every command. Then... they might figure out something supernatural happens in this movie.... then again maybe not.

Why can't anybody see that that was a SUBPLOT designed specifically for Norton, Winslet, and Peña? It was NOT the plot! For everyone who didn't "get" this movie: The plot was that Smith's character had to face time, death and love in order to deal with pain and loss. His friends helped him do this, UNWITTINGLY. Even though everyone thought it was just about them trying to save their little company, that had ALMOST NOTHING to do with the MESSAGE! I get so frustrated with folks who just want to watch Marvel movies ALL THE TIME. Idiots: _I've seen the trailer, therefore I'll review the movie!_ People who have seen the movie and could care less about the trailer:

This entire review is based on an INCORRECT conclusion. The FALSE premise they led with is that his friends paid actors to have Smith sale his ad company. Be that as it may, critical thinking would point to the fact that the actors are ACTUALLY Love, Time, and Death. So it's not a scheme but divine forces at work. Assuming the critics in this video watched the movie, it would do everyone well NOT to watch reviews from them now that it's apparent they are prone to bad conclusions. That being said, the movie is self-referentially solid. In simple terms, collateral beauty happened when Smith's friends regained that part in their lives- hence collateral beauty. So, the movie makes sense. It's not that good movies are rare, it's that good thinkers are.

I think it wasn't made very clear, or maybe viewers/critics were turned off so much to the fact that the people cast as Will Smith's characters friends were betraying him, that it wasn't discovered that Death, Time and Love were actually those embodiments. At the beginning, Helen says to Keira, 'Great job' as she lures Edward Norton's character to the theatre and at the end, Helen is the woman who coincidentally is sitting next to Naomi Harris' character. But, yeah I don't think it was made very clear by the writers/director and that's unfortunate. There were some strong performances but I think the movie was trying to do too much and some things just didn't make any sense.

(how else would you explain DEATH being at the hospital when the child died 3 years earlier, surely that actress didn't know she would be offered the role of DEATH 3 years later?!?!?!?) I think this is a very DEEP movie and you have to really look deeper into. Also at the end nobody can see Love, Time and Death standing on the bridge at the end (hence they only let those they want see them)....... I think most reviewers are so let down at the plot twist of the friends betraying him that they get lost in the movie somewhere. I thought this was an excellent movie and will watch it again when it comes out on DVD.

When he followed Knightley she was congratulated for bringing him. And remember his wife(will smith) had the meeting with death prior to will. When the child died. And, at the end will smith was the only one to see them. Because it was from his point of view and his wife. And only he could see them. And the reason that the friends were matched with the specific abstracts was because they were getting help also. They were there for them all. These more... But... Wow. I think you missed it

You totally missed the fact that the 'actors' actually were the abstractions. When 'love' baits Edward Norton, that was intentional. No one on this channel has any ability to think outside the box. You take everything too seriously. You don't seem to have the ability to accept paranormal or fantasy elements in movies. Hence your take on Winter's Tale. These kinds of movies are fantasy movies. It's not the real world. So, in the future if the movie has any fantastic elements hinted in the trailer, just skip it. You won't get it, and you'll hate it. Just stick to movies completely based in reality. You'll have a better time, and so will whoever wants to watch your channel.

Jason Bodgett it's not that, it's the fact that the movie acts like it's a good thing that they did it

Big spoiler in the first few minutes that the love time and death are actors, that's a huge spoiler (haven't seen it yet but if that's true it's massive spoilers)

Collateral Beauty is an AMAZING film! Beautiful, strong & deep! This is GREAT movie with capital letters and wonderful performances that will make you think about love, life & death. Will Smith is phenomenal in Collateral Beauty! Helen & Naomie are amazing too! Go and watch it today! And bring some tissues!

Well it is certainly clear from this review that both Christy and Alonso lack the ability to empathize, are void of the ability for critical thought and quite possibly have never really experienced true loss.

I have a feeling this movie is going to inspire many fake deep memes that resonate with the vapid idiots that lap up hokey shit.

Does Will Smith like resent the world for loving his charismatic, charming attitude back in the day? It's even more of a kick in the balls to know the movie opens on that same, lovable Fresh Prince but then skips ahead three years to focus on yet another horribly boring stoic asshole? Why does he make these choices in roles?

LOOOOOOOOOOL EVERYONE IS SOOOOOOO DUMB, LOVE TIME AND DEATH WERE NOTTTTTTT REAL. ALL 3 HELPED WILL, AND 1 OF THEM HELPED ONE OF EACH FRIEND. THATS WHY AT THE END ONLY WILL CAN SEE THEM AND NOT HIS WIFE, THEY THIS DISAPEAR CUZ HE KNOW LONGER NEEDED THEM

This was a GREAT movie! It was good enough to attract Mirren. These critics are garbage. Remember this critique when this movie rakes in tons of awards.

The quality of a Will Smith movie is inversely proportional the the amount of time he spends furrowing his brow (his method of "acting", apparently), and the trailer contained purt near 100% brow furrowing. The title is pretentious and hammy as well.

The ad for Collateral Beauty played before this video. Bad placement by their promo department

Its obvious to me this movie flew right over your heads. The friends motives were to try and help bring him back from his severe dpression. Later when they realized it was having little impact, rather than go bankrupt, they decided to try to get him to sell which they were able to do AFTER they told him the truth. After all that, he began the journey to begin to grieve. You saw none of the depth or how the actors were actually helping all of them. Its a shame you missed it. It showed a lot of the Collateral Beauty there is in the ups and downs journey of life. Your review is what's terrible. I wonder what credentials you have as film critics. They sure didn't help you grasp emotional depth or feeling. Arrogant.
