Welcome back to the one and only Reserved Investments; the only one crazy enough to start a KZbin channel devoted to COLLECTIBLES FINANCE. This video was recorded at 1 AM EST somewhere in a cozy basement office near King of Prussia/Philadelphia, Pennsylvania...and I may or may not be under the influence of questionable substances while recording this video...What is in this herbal tea, as it has to be more than just peppermint?...In this video, we talk about why and how to diversify assets into the antiques and collectibles trade...and how not to do it (the video gets really crazy at about 23 minutes in)...

If you get your financial advice solely from KZbin or social media in general, you need a lot of help. The very idea of someone "investing" in antiques and collectibles before having a well-diversified stock portfolio and at least one home that they own is so crazy to me. I see it ALL of the time though in the Star Wars collecting community - people that live paycheck to paycheck and get on "payment plans" for some expensive Star Wars toy. It is complete insanity and I try to advise people NOT to collect this crap if you can't afford to. Great vid!

Easy answer, traditional assets feel boring to most people. Plain and simply that. Why do modern QBs that have done nothing sell for more than Joe Montana, or Zion Williamson more than Larry Bird? On and on, it's because people LOVE gambling, casinos get rich off these fools daily.

BTC is gonna moon to 100k next year and this guy should eat his shorts when it does. Although it might come back down to 60K. I think stocks are going to do the opposite due to BRICS nations threatening the USD hegemony which would turn the people running these US companies as pariahs if they holding worthless USD I mean people constantly want more USD but yet everything keeps going up in USD terms. This is why crypto and metals will be the hedge against this happening.

If you're going to go after those 4 C's, make sure you marry the 4th before going after the others, that way when the inevitable bankruptcy occurs, the resulting potential alimony will be minimal and the other person will be on the hook as well for the rest of the financial fallout. I mean, ya gotta have a strategy to cut your losses.... (yes, the tongue is firmly in cheek for this one)

Hmmm. I propose a thought experiment. Let imagine that a certain idea hits "criticality" in investing and pop culture broadly. That idea being that the S&P500 index is the only true investment worth making. All investments begin converting over, and the total market explodes. 50%, 60%, 80% ....90% of all value converts into this magical, One True Investment (or 500 in this case). What would that look like on the way up? How would this play out as the slice pie got bigger and bigger? When would people notice the bubble forming? Maybe this idea is non-sensical, or maybe not. I hope I'm able to identify the contrarian strategy when the time comes.

Shawn, I’m a little over leveraged in sealed video games. I’m in at good prices but probably bought a bit too many from nostalgia. I don’t need the money per se and have them listed at prices I’ll make money on, but would you auction them on eBay and take potential losses on them back (slow drip) to recoup $$? Or hold and list at prices patiently to eventually sell?

@ReservedInvestments
@ReservedInvestments 10 ай бұрын
Back in the early 1990's these same companies did the same with the internet that was new at the time. Does that mean if you invested in AOL, Netscape, or eventually Pets.com you were investing in the internet? Blockchain adoption is the same. By investing in crypto and/or Bitcoin, you are NOT by default investing in blockchain technology. That's a fallacy that is repeated throughout the 'crypto-bro' sphere. By the way, if you bought an S & P 500 index fund back in the early 1990's, it had some of these speculative stocks in it that failed, but they were removed and replaced over time and it cost nothing to the S & P 500 shareholders. The rest is history. Look how an S & P 500 index fund performed over that time.

Hi, I enjoy your content! Quick question, when does a nostalgic collectible become historical? In terms of comic books I was thinking Batman #1 (1940 -historical), Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962 -borderline historical and nostalgic?), Teenage mutant ninja turtles #1 (1984- nostalgic)... as examples. I was wondering if I was on the right track and if it has to be multiple generations

History has to do with a representation of a time in the world, or based on an event that changed the world, or a celebration of a time that changed history. I’m sorry to tell you that pop culture in and of itself, can never be ‘historic’ as compared to true historic artifacts. So that’s your answer. In other words, a collectible can become an antique, but it will most likely never be truly historic.

Gold has been a valuable asset for over 4,000 years. Gold is more of a value to hold value in. However, it can be an investment. Case in point gold was $1300 per ounce in 2020 and has climbed to $2000 yrd. Not a bad profit considering you are trading it for cash which is devaluing by the day. Gold typically sees a climb during war, which we are clearly ready to embark on.

And this is why people are given the mindset to invest in stocks think about it in the 1920s the stock market was exactly like the collectibles/crypto/metals markets highly speculative, highly volatile. The only thing that negated the stock market's volitivity is the fact that people are told by the MSM and elite to invest in their 401K invest in their pension but all this does is give the elite a slush fund milking fees and when they want to crash the market then people end up selling anyway due to job loss.
