When it comes to Nintendo games you only need 2 or 3 consoles to enjoy everything 1) the switch for switch games 2) the 3ds for portable 3ds, ds, gba, gbc and gb games 3) the wii u for EVERYTHING ELSE

Really liked this video, the Wii and Wii U were my childhood consoles and despite being literally the only person in school to own one (straight up, I took a survey in my 2015 high school year as a project for one of my classes and I managed to get over 600 people, not a SINGLE person had a Wii U. But for me, this was a great console. It even worked as a proto-Switch if you were crazy. I brought mine on two 12 hour youth group road trips with Smash 4 and Mario Kart 8, having like 3 other people huddle around the gamepad and we had a ton of fun despite it. It's a shame it sold so poorly when there were so many good games, but I get it. But geez Nintendo and Monolith Soft can you PLEASE port Xenoblade X? That was my #1 wanted Wii U port when I saw they started doing them, and we still haven't gotten it. It's legitimately one of the best RPGs I've ever played and I hope more people get the chance to play it, especially when all of the updates aren't available anymore due to the closure of the Wii U eShop.

You're not the only one that had a Wii u I used to have it as well I never heard any of the reviews about it or anything else the only thing I knew is that I just want to play it and having backwards compatibility is beneficial for the Wii u even back in those days you get to do the e shops but someone did confirm that the eShop is closed and no longer usable the good thing is you can mod it like including other systems from other consoles to your Wii u to help make it even better I never had the opportunity to do that with mine but I did give it away to someone else though and besides that more people just play Playstation or Xbox anyway and to those that hold on to the Wii u after all of these years don't just immediately give it away

And right now both gamepad and pro controller are on the sofa, just having a break from my run on Breath Of The Wild. I really loved this console (I got the Wind Waker HD edition in 2013) and it's nice to see how many people today realized about its "post-mortem" existence. Great video, indeed.

@@MeMelon For any wanting to play StarFox listen carefully, don't play the main story first. Go to training mode and spend about two hours learning the controls, because the motion controls are kinda complicated. There's a minus button that swap screens and you have the ability to turn the motion controls on or off in the pause menu. It's easier to shoot everyone in first person mode, where as all ranged mode is easier for avoiding enemies.

After transferring my Wii virtual console games to my Wii U and after downloading other digital games only available on Wii U eShop my Wii U became my go to console with hundreds of classic/retro games and it’s still enjoyable to this day

The WiiU was the second console I got as a kid, and so before that I played Xbox 360, DS, and 3DS, though I didn't play many games on the 360 I played the shit out of my DS and 3DS so I was a nintendo nerd. Christmas of 2012, I got a WiiU and I don't think I even knew what it was, all I knew was it had mario so I liked it. It's the only console I owned as a kid that I still have to this day. Since I was a kid I didn't know if the console was bad or not, all I knew was I was having fun on it, but looking back I can definetly see it had some problems. The best thing about the WiiU for me now though is it's emulation capability, which I didn't know about as a kid. I have a hard drive with every gamecube game and all my favorite Wii games, and I can play them all off my WiiU!

Had a WiiU as a kid before I got my Xbox. the game I most fondly remember is Splatoon. When everyone had COD and was camo grinding, I was ranking up with my Splattershot. And when you talked about Nintendoland? So many memories flooded back of playing that Zelda game for months; just replaying and replaying for fun.

I was one of those who saw this coming out when I was 18 and fell in love with it! I graduated high school started my first job and saved up to buy it on release. As much as I loved it I didn't play much and got rid of it eventually. I think growing up with the Wii and being able to finally buy my own Nintendo was worth the experience though. Got one again for like 50 bucks and been randomly picking up games when I see them for super cheap

As a Wii U owner since 2012 (I was 11 years old then) this was really entertaining to see the perspective of someone who bought one very late. I'm glad you loved Nintendo Land, I think that is the most underrated Wii U game and I wish Nintendo would make a sequel to it. Also after seeing how much you enjoyed Xenoblade, I honestly think you should try playing a Fire Emblem game. You might actually enjoy it!

I didn’t get the Wii U until 2015 but seeing all the beginning stuff about it, i feel if they marketed it way better it would’ve thrived. sure there were issues but I have so many memories with it. It introduced me to the Splatoon series, I fell in love with breath of the wild and my love for Mario kart, and I loved being able to make art on it through Miiverse and community posts so much. Sure you can have most of that on the switch but something about the charm and personality of the Wii u and 3ds just hit different. The switch just seems boring with the mii maker and the Home Screen. So many great memories. The wii, the Wii U and the 3ds will forever be my biggest childhood memories!

But now, with a considerable collection of 700 physical games, my Wii U collection has grown from 1 game to... 18. Strangely tho, I've found that Nintendo games are the most attractive games to play, stream and talk about! Considering I knew nothing but Jak and Daxter and Call Of Duty growing up, that's a strange fact to me haha. I hope this video gets all the attention it deserves! I'll share it around. I bought a wiiu in 2017 just before the switch launched and basically tanned a good chunk of the essential titles in around 18months before I bought a switch. ( I have about 20 physical games) I really enjoyed it and thought the system had lots of personality. I wish I had bought it earlier though, as by 2017 it was literally dead and it would have been nice to supplement my PS4 with those sweet Nintendo exclusives. I think half the issue was I kinda already had that with the 3ds. Anyway, aside from the gamepad having awful battery life and my white wiiu pad going a stinky yellow colour, I have a soft spot for the wiiu

Never had this console. I was having a blast on PS3 and xbox360, PS4. Never looked to Nintendo. Now being an old fart we just bought a 3ds and a Wii. Both modded. In two days a really cheap WiiU is coming in. I’m ready with SD card - prepared for introducing Aroma. I just cannot wait to try it and am looking for cheap software. With the Wii we got a whole heap of controllers so will use them on the U. Waiting to play Zeldas and xenoblade X. With a switch lite home we will have a full Nintendo arch at our disposal. I mean you could mod the wii u to be able to play gamecube games using nintendont, run retroarch to play more emulators and even use pretendo to revive the servers that shut down.Jaibreaking the wii u and running homebrew is essential nowadays if you want to have a wii u just like they are for the og wii and/or wii family definetely the wii mini so why didn't you focus on that more because I think I saw the payload app on your app menu.

Ive started selling my WIiU stuff actually, since most of it is on NSW anyway. I kept the big stuff like Devils Third and Xeno X, along with any other game I have that didn't get ported. But anything with a Switch version got sold off, since it dawned on me that I have zero reason to play them on the U at that point. Though I will attest that Deus Ex: HR is still surprisingly fun to play with the Gamepad additions.
