A delightful quirk of this show is the fact that there is only about a 40% chance of them putting up a picture of the car they are talking about when Chris says, “We’ll put a picture up of it now…” 😂

Small story about my driving song recommendation. Fairground by Simply Red. I drive a 630hp Toyota Chaser, finally got it re registered after 2 years of being off the road. Wrnt though a whole lot of headache getting all the mods engineered to government standards. Finally got it sorted at the department of transport about 30minutes from my house. I was so excited that it passed inspection and was issued new plates that i forgot to put them on the car in the carpark, I just through them on the passenger seat and left. Driving down a surprisingly empty local highway, 6am, not a car insight and i vaguely hear the chorus of Fairground come in, naturally I turn the volume up, windows down to hear the exhaust note and gently drop back to 4th and roll onto the throttle, back up to 5th and the car is just singing perfectly at a rapid rate of knots! It was a perfect clear autumn morning and that was the perfect song for a perfect moment. Loving the podcast guys. I feel like im chatting with friends around a table after a few beers even though im not participating.

Exhaust - M5 - spot on. The diameter, the spacing, the metallic finish, the low set, flush finish. Perfection. The Murcielago was a highlight too - finishes off the stance and look of the car. Could stare for days.

Best episode yet, they've all been brilliant so far but this one takes the biscuit. I've not driven many great roads, as a resident of Canada most of the roads around where I live are dead straight and potholed to heck. A couple of years ago I bought a Mk6 Volkswagen GTI in Vancouver and drove it home to Edmonton via the BC-99 highway, a fantastic winding road that weaves up through Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton. However, there is nothing like a good French back road imho, recently I experienced the D533 from Saint-Agrève down to Valence in the rhône valley. Stunning road, I was sat in the back of a Renault Traffic being driven at high speed which made me feel quite ill, but the entire journey I was constantly imagining what it would be like in a Peugeot 205 GTi or similar.

I left school as a fresh faced 16 year old in 93' and started a 4 year mechanics apprenticeship at a Ford dealer. Being of that age for me its the Escort Cosworth but not for the reason you might think. Again it's the back story and as was typical back then it was a case of Ford doing something without 2 pennies to rub together. They took a Sierra Cosworth floorpan and dropped an Escort 3 door body on top. The width and length difference being the main reason for the flared arches and different front and rear bumpers. Everything was bodged together underneath (don't get me started on the exhaust!) but they knew it would work, because the Sierra Cosworth did. It sold in spades and probably resurrected the RS brand which carried on thereafter.

Neil Cliffords tale of travels in Australia was wonderful and I may be mistaken, but I think he was a little watery eyed at the end there. I spent 6 months traveling and camping in Australia in a Toyota Hilux and agree with him, it's a beautiful place, with fabulous people. Recommended to anyone who wants to sell up and get off the treadmill and escape until money or time runs out.

On Neil's recommendation in the podcast, I have just watched the Parkinson - Peter Sellers interview. I have never really paid much attention to Sellers and his work but that was a very insightful interview to what seems to be an extremely complex character. The Richard the 3rd rendition straight off the cuff was outstanding as was the story he re-counted about Peter O'Toole. Thanks Neil, that has been a bit of an eye opener and I think that I will spend some time looking more into Seller's work. The Pod cast continues to be excellent, thanks guy's.

Another great podcast, guys. Here's my picks for the topics you talked about: Favorite (fast) Ford: Escort RS Cosworth. Favorite road: N222 from Peso da Régua to Pinhão in Portugal, or pretty much any road that goes along the river Douro. Best exhaust design: Pagani Zonda. Cars with fast names: MG Metro Turbo (sounds more like really fast public transportation). F1 chat: couldn't care less, skipped that part. Peter Sellers 2 car garage: Bentley S3 Continental Drophead in the UK and a Ferrari 500 Superfast in the US. Driving tune: Primus - Wynona's Big Brown Beaver

Best automotive podcast series I’ve listened too/watched. Keep it going gents 👍 Regarding exhausts? I’m biased but my favorite is the original xflow exhaust on a 1700 Supersprint. From childhood, the first car exhaust that I noticed was from a Maserati Quattroporte 1968. A neighbour of my parents had one in Hong Kong and I stood behind it as it was started up one morning and my white school socks got spattered in oil but I looked down at those exhaust tips and thought, phwoar! My first Janspeed exhaust purchased from the hands of Keith Rip (Ripspeed) in Edmonton UK fitted to my avo rs2000 was another 😍 moment. The rolled lip at the end of that silencer was magnificent. And lastly, the pair of upturned exhaust tips on a TR6 (at full tilt) are just gorgeous. Tune of the day: Montrose, Bad Motor Scooter 😎👊👍

For me the fastest sounding name has to be 80s craze... 'TURBO' I used to be mesmerised seeing it written down the sides of Renault 5s, RS Turbos, 911 & 930, Saab 900's Alpina's.... basically any black on black 80s car with red decals and badging is perfection imo.

Yep, the X Pack fitted the Capri and RS2000 Mk 2. But I don't think Bodie and Doyle ever had X packs on their cars....I stand to be corrected. We fitted 3 back in the day - all RS2000's. They were very expensive and entailed equally expensive wider RS alloys too. There was a very tatty one on Arthur Daley's forecourt (back in Terry's day). Capri and Cortina S had Bilstein suspension in the day....all had great handling, great gearboxes and were great driving cars. BDA more relevant to me than the DFV despite the great sound. Mk2 RS1800 was the rarest model (very expensive at the time)

Great episode thanks v much. Favourite (not best) fast Ford for me was the Mk2 Fiesta XR2 - quite an eye opener as a teenager going from a 1.1 with long gearing. Best exhaust - there is something very iconic about the old (pre 964) exhausts which poked out of the back corner. Not beautiful but somehow very purposeful looking.

Off work today and put this on before I go out. Loves these podcasts. Erm Fav fast Ford for me is Ford Mustang Boss 429 with 375hp and NASCAR engine. GT40 is the best because of its place in History. So many great Fords though. Since I am 45 the Ford Escort Cosworth is upthere that car was the poster child for boy racing. Capri RS3100 and the Perana from South Africa. Mustang Cobra R of 2000 also great shout , RS500 plus the RS200. Best car name for me is Dodge Charger or Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird. Americans have best names as a kid I bought matchbox cars due to names. Amx Javelin, Mustang Mach1 Twister, Mercury Cougar Eliminator to name just a few. Interceptor is great name also .

So I listen to this on my journey home so don't see your fabulous faces. However, the talk of the road to Formentor made me tingle. I was on said road 2 weeks ago driving some shitbox Chinese SUV (a dr 4.0, €20k of Chinese reasonableness) rental, trying not to kill the bloody cyclists and listening to a squealing wife who really wasn't enjoying it one bit. Loved it. An empty road and my M140i would have been great fun for sure. Agreed, great camber, good surface, hairpins. Absolutely fantastic. Another fav was a loop I did in Cyprus once from Paphos up to the ski resort and back down. Landslides, snow, sun and all in a Nissan Note Auto that had seen far better days that's for sure.

Exhaust tips - for me, the 850CSi might just beat the M5 - there’s just an extra subtle bit of stagger to the tips…. Re: F1 practice - keep the free practice, bring back Procar, make it entirely optional for the current F1 drivers (AND reserve drivers), but give a lowish level of F1 drivers (only) championship points to the top, say, 5 finishers!

Call me a pikey, but my favourite fast Ford is the Gen 2 Focus ST with the 2.5 Volvo T5 engine in it. I was thinking about it on the way home. The newer ST's maybe more capable, faster and handle better etc. But that 5cyl imo is full of so much character and sounds like a Quattro and how often do you hear a turbo'd 5 pot being sent down the local dual carriage way. I'd buy one just for the sound haha
