Apparently even CD production is backlogged. The Warning finally released the full Error album (which is amazing and please review it!) but the CD isn’t ready yet (this was mastered more than a year ago). A lot of their fans prefer physical media so the vinyl will be quite popular when it is out, but no idea when.

I've over physical album delays as I ordered the indie exclusive version of ladyhawkes album for my birthday last August. it was supposed to be out October 8th but was delayed several times to August 5th but now it's delayed indefinitely. cd and digital have been available since last November. I'm over wanting this album considering how many times it's been delayed. preorders should not be put up until they are almost finished with vinyl production and are confident it will come out on the planned release date.

I stated collecting in 2015 when I was around like 14 or 15. My collection started out with mostly gifts and hand-me-downs from family members, which was a great way to get original pressings of a lot of albums from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The first album that I had bought with my own money was Foo Fighters’ greatest hits. The reason why I chose that was because Foo Fighters was also my first concert, earlier that year.

As someone with autism I tend to fall into very intense hyperfixations, and vinyl has been one of the strongest ones in my life. It started back in high school when I saw a picture of the hot topic exclusive Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge pressing online and though I’ve never been able to obtain a copy of one of those it like set off something in my brain and I was just kinda like yeah this is my life now. I got my first two records in 2019 (fallen by evanescence and after laughter by Paramore) before I even had a turntable. I got a terrible sandwich turntable that couldn’t even play at the right speed before upgrading to a Voksun that I shortly broke from playing my evanescence record so loud it burnt out the built in pre amp, and now I have a Fluance that I love to death and now my collection has grown to 93 records. It’s been a journey, the thing about being autistic and having such an intense love for a hobby like vinyl is that while spinning my records and going out to record stores to hunt down albums i love brings me a lot of joy it also means that when things go wrong such as missing out on pressings or damaged records or something being wrong with my turntable it can be really intense for me and I’ve nearly quit the hobby several times because of it, but I would say the good outweighs the bad in this situation. And you stated perfectly how vinyl isn’t as passive as streaming, when I go to spin a record I’m not just pulling it up on streaming and playing it in the background while doing laundry, spinning a record is setting time aside to dedicate to the album and really enjoying it which I appreciate.

I got my first turntable in 2019 from my grandfather and immediately went to get my first album which was Help! by The Beatles. I used to be buying 1-3 albums a year, but since I’ve moved out and been forced between living spaces, I had to let go of my turntable and I don’t have the funds nor the space for a new one. Once I move out into my own living space again, getting a new turntable is my top priority. I agree with it being more of an active listen, but for me its also a stress reliever. Also, I love a lot of local bands and you would not believe how many times I have seen their music get wiped off the internet. If CDs die out, I will be very very sad.

Started collecting in 2017, it’s been insane to see the growth and price spike in the hobby. I kinda fell out of love with it around 2020 when some double LP’s started pushing £30-50 ($35-60ish). I remember being able to walk into stores and pick up a couple of records for £25 it’s just getting insane now with extortionate exclusives, insane wait times for pre orders etc etc. I’ll still buy the odd record every now and then but now it feels like vinyl is less about the music and more of an investment or an aesthetic if that makes sense.

PREACH Seriously though, did I want to pay nearly 50 bucks for the new Kendrick? Heck no...but that's a rare kind of artist I'm willing to shell out for. You're not so likely to see me spending that much on the new Megadeth album. I also want to say that, back when I was starting my collection (not too long after you actually Jon), my favorite place to look was in the cheap used and bargain bins of local stores. Also flea markets, garage sales, Goodwills, and those sorts of places. There are a couple personal factors that made it so shopping in those cheapy areas was still fulfilling (A. I wasn't as concerned with fidelity and quality of sound as I was with the mystique of vinyl and the hunt for good records, B. I'm into a lot of classic rock, 70s and 80s stuff especially, and most of that stuff is usually a lot easier to find). However, if you're just trying to get a collection going and you're willing to dig through the trenches for an acid washed copy of Toys In The Attic, just holding at your personal crackle threshold, you're wallet will definitely thank you.

Like you, I’m a huge Green Day fan, and my first record was Green Day’s 2019 RSD Woodstock ‘94 record. Then my parents got me the Beatles’ White Album and then my collection started growing and growing. In 3 years I’m up to 153, including 7”. I “completed” my Green Day collection. By complete I mean that I got all the CDs and LPs that I could, minus the really expensive ones like Bullet in a Bible and Awesome as Fuck LPs (Green Day please release them on vinyl again). I’ve also got some 7” from them like original Slappy and 1,000 Hours pressings (need to get an original Sweet Children pressing) and the ones that came with Kerplunk and 39/Smooth 2009 represses along with Live at the Whiskey and the two BBC Sessions EPs. I’ve started to collect the singles. One of my local record shops has the coolest owner, The Record Shop in Phoenixville, PA in case anyone’s from there, and he told me that he picked up a green jewel case Basket Case single just for me, so now I’m on a mission to get as many of those as I can, along with the bootlegs. But along the ride, I’ve loved talking about bands, finding new ones, finding other cool records. I love talking to the local vinyl collectors while in line for RSD. I love collecting records and I have a decent sized CD collection too

I've been actively collecting vinyl since 2016, and yeah it's really annoying how labels will price albums so high for regular bare bones copies. Not only does it feel unjustified but it also seems like it's discouraging to people who are interested in record collecting but don't have tons of income. If I ever open a record label and release physical media, I kind of want to put "Pay no more than this price" markings on the artwork, which is something I've seen punk labels (specifically Dischord Records) tend to do.
