My least favorite Christmas song has gotta be one of the many variants of Frosty The Snowman that plays on the radio constantly at work. The one that drives me the most insane is the one with vocals that sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks (I have no idea who made it). It doesn't help that the infantile instrumental reminds me of one of those toy stalls at the mall that is squeaking constantly whenever you walk past it. Any Christmas song that sounds way too over the top is not my thing (It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas with the fake laughing is another dishonorable mention), but this one is close to Dance Monkey levels of annoying.

My mom listened to this song constantly during the Christmas season a few years after it released. I hated it. It was so corny and cheesy. I'm glad she lost that CD.

I grew up in a "non-denominational" super-fundie church, so this definitely triggers terrible memories for me as well. Gawd, I still get PTSD meltdowns from thinking about growing up in that church! With that said, I appreciate you dunking on Franklin Graham, his "charity," and the song attached to that 💩💩💩💩. Maybe, the guys at NewSong had good intentions with it. But especially knowing what we know now about Franklin Graham and his operation, I just can't with any of that.

Train's Christmas album makes me want to skip the holiday season. Do not listen to it unless you're either a huge fan of Train (I won't be that @hole that gatekeeps "good music") or if you like punishing yourself. I can see why this is a painful listen by the way.

My least favorite Christmas song always has been and always will be Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. I’m sorry, but who thought it would be a good idea to make a Christmas song about a family member dying on Christmas Eve and making it all quirky and funny? It’s not funny, it’s just dark.

When I used to watch Finn, there were these vibes he was sending off, which felt like he really didn’t respect music as an art form, with how he would talk about certain bands/genres with condescension and just a lack of interest or respect. He also had these “How do you do fellow kids” vibes going on when he would try to interact with fans, with him bringing up how metalheads only look at pictures of guitars instead of girls. When I bring that up, it makes perfect sense that he was faking it.
@metamorphicblood13 сағат бұрын
His attitude was always so contradictory, like “I’m sticking up for all the people who don’t fit in. Also, if you like something I don’t you’re a nerd and you’re too weird”, etc. He’s always been such a smug, bitter waste of flesh.

Brother, I'm with you. I watch about 3 of his videos and called him out as a poser in the comments of one of them. And, then I blocked his channel. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who caught on early.

I never had a strong opinion on the guy. probably watched 4 or 5 of his videos ever. And I didn't hate them honestly, but they were very hollow. I preferred the comment section opinions. This shit is crazy though. Way to make a lot of people hate you immediately.

What I don't understand is how he's calling his audience smoothe-brained when his channel was all about deep dives and in-depth, thoughtful analyses of bands, artists, eras, etc. That is just so weird and scummy. And yes, I was a fan myself. He had some very unique and refreshing perspectives when he wanted to, and wasn't afraid to make some pretty in depth content.

God this man has to be empty inside. How do you conciously say "life is short, dont spend it doing something you dont want to do" but then DO EXACTLY THAT for 7 whole years wtaf. Also such a disgusting personality he has, saying musicians are a lost cause because they dont make a lot of money, when the Husk he embellishes fails tk recognize what love is, and that musicians do it for the love of music and the love of what they do. God i am actually disgusted

I think the thing that upsets me the most about all of this is that he has expressed that part of his plans for 2025 is too "make the internet nice again," meanwhile he is clearly putting down his fanbase and spreading negativity in the same breath. Imagine being a man who curates a successful career based on a topic he claims he doesn't care about, litters his videos with incredibly garbage hot takes about music he claims to not care about, and then gets bitter and upset when people dont like his hot takes and decides his audience is the problem. He gets all upset about the negativity, but he clearly did it to himself.

It's pretty wild that his grift was running music channel, while not having an interest in music. How do you even fall into that line of work with "no interest" in it?
@pickles22423 сағат бұрын
Well we’ve all worked odd jobs at one point just for the money, but there’s a difference between working a job you hate and building an entire channel around something you have no passion for. There’s tons of other stuff to talk about online! Why music? It’s like opening a Chinese restaurant and closing it down years later like “yeah I never really liked Chinese food anyway”.

I haven’t seen many people talk about the fact that Finn is really sh*tty about people with substance use disorders. And that alone made me unsubscribe. Being in the punk scene will introduce you to so many different types of people. People with SUD’s included. Having such a high and mighty attitude about it makes me feel like Finn isn’t about community, doesn’t have empathy, doesn’t view everybody like they’re a human being. and I think it speaks to the larger issue of him being hyper capitalist and doesn’t represent any facet of “punk” whatsoever, not even DIY. Finn had said that he used to be into zine culture, if he was so diy and punk why doesnt he make a series about how to make zines or mutual aid or something? The whole “I had to make Wikipedia vids because that’s what the algorithm demands” is anti-creative. And he straight up admits that he “did it for a financial goal” I never heard Finn talk about new punk bands who are actually DIY, who put on their own shows, put out their own records etc. when there is an entire universe of modern DIY punk if you just try to look a little bit. Not to mention his “anti-woke” wife smh Having reactionary views and being hyper hyper capitalist is neither “punk” nor “DIY” to me PS I know straight edge exists lol but I have never met a straight edge person in real life that made me feel like I was a lesser being. I know that type of straight edge people are out there but I think they’re the minority

It's just my gut, but I feel like Finn was actually passionate about being a music-tuber but suffered from burnout and audience capture. He had said previously that anytime he would talk about genres, artists or bands that weren't 2000's nostalgia, they would dislike bombed or receive negative comments so he had to keep making the same Butt Rock videos over and over cuz that was what a large/loud enough portion of his viewers wanted. Hope he does well in whatever he does next but it sucks that he felt he needed to burn his bridges on his way out to do so.

It's such a bizarre situation. Not uncommon that people don't enjoy their work. But his next steps as trying to being a linked-in influencer/life coach is so odd when the advice is essentially "be miserable and burn tons of bridges while you work if it makes you money".

I’m sure he grew up on all this stuff, and is using it as content. He def knows the metal and punk scenes from y2k+.i grew up on Slipknot but I haven’t listened to them for like 10 years. It’s still something I Love, my current taste just changed more to the psytrance synthwave side. Btw I think early Linkin Park and SOAD still sound great when I do hear it. From that to Dimmu, and I started with Limp Bizkit and KoRn lol
