Well here’s the thing, top gear shouldn’t have been touched again. Chris’ pieces with Neil that he puts out every now and again, completely shit on his top gear pieces. I do hope he’s being well compensated by bbc BUT I wish he just stayed on the internet and the BBC just killed top gear. I don’t like top gears chris Harris character, he will always be best in videos like this and CHOC.

Exactly. These are machines engineered to deliver the ultimate driving pleasure, but their potential is not being used. To use an analogy - what is a musical instrument good for, if it isn't being played?
@deadjumpers87

It's not like I can afford to have a parked Porsche or a driven one but I totally agree. Porsches for me look better used, the beauty of the new or low milage ones is their potencial to be driven and enjoyed, unfortunately like a lot of great things these days their value susperceeds their owners desire to drive them and they end up falling into the investement catagory. I always think, If we were all able to look into the far future we would see that all these cars will one day ceast to exist so why not use and enjoy them whilst you can? Although in England these days driving on public roads is torture so I probably wouldn't use them either....

Please stop asking for regulators to take away fast cars from us, it doesn't make you seem "forward thinking". It is one of the last free things we have. Matt Farah always talks about it, I've heard Jethro Bovington say it and now Chris. Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on....So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called "Abgasbespaßung". :-(((

@robertely686
@robertely686 3 жыл бұрын
@freepieanchipsgarage really. What does 'zero mileage' mean. If not zero, doesn't it mean very low? 6,000 miles in 20 years suggests low usage too. Also, how does inheriting 'high wealth' or a business make you 'responsible'? I know someone who looks after collections. Their customers pay 12k without question for a pair of carbon side skirts on a Ferrari, then beat him down for 6 months worth of work. And a teenager who takes that Fiesta on a track day is actually taking a larger financial threat than a Ferrari owner does - he can't afford to go to work the next day if it fails. This industry has become beset by lazy show offs, who despite possibly creating a business or something constructive at some point in their life, have now decided to sit back and live off other people's money in the form of an investment bubble, be it housing or classic cars. It's a contagious disease so now there's loads of people who used to have a Porsche on the driveway that now tuck it up in a garage, don't drive it and tell themselves they're some sort of historian. Or lower than that, a load of debt slaves with Stockholm syndrome that won't actually own a car or house of their own for 40 years but talk as though they are investment gurus because they haven't had an individual thought since leaving school but want to appear to be a 'success'.
@robertely686
@robertely686 3 жыл бұрын
@freepieanchipsgarage actually if you go on a track day, you'll find lots of teenagers with Fiestas and bangers. You might find one Ferrari. I may only have five cars myself but at least I own all of them. I may also be low income compared to you, but I only work a 2 day week. The other 5 days I spend working on or driving cars, or doing things I enjoy. Luckily I have my own small business and I prefer to invest in myself rather than government backed pyramid schemes or other peoples work and money. I often get called a socialist for being mildly critical of the establishment - it's normally by people who are dependent on socialism themselves - when it comes to them borrowing money from banks (backed by government and other peoples money), investing in the stock market (backed by government and other peoples money) or the housing market (backed by government and other peoples money). The biggest socialists of all are people that use the financial system to earn money. Making money from not using something - that sounds like the opposite of capitalism to me. Good luck with it though.

the 911 is the poor man's 928. the 928 won two Bonneville Salt Flats fasted production land car (1986 and 2020). the 928 is the only sports car to win European Car of the Year. the 928 is the biggest bang for the buck in exotic sports/poster cars as well as the entire Porsche classic car line up. Even Magnus Walker is quietly building his 928 collection. the 964 is 40/60 weighth distribution and fish tails - not the 50/50 weight distrubted 928. While a grand tourer, the mid/high torque 928 is a more complete car as the 911 doesn't has less horsepower than the 928 and even today, classic porsche enthusiasts do not value off the line speed even for the 911. and Porsche made a tenth of 928s than they made 911s. No disrepect - just calling balls and strikes. Its now or never for the 928.

His presentation style is always brilliant. I wish I can talk about cars as freely, from-memory as he does someday.

The finest collection of garage queens in the land. Such a shame most of them just collect dust.

Missing the Porsche 996’s! Not a complete collection without. Also the 997 GT2 is not the original widow maker, far from it!

Wow, Chris Harris with the sensible take on firearms ownership in Britain, I didn't expect that. If you can buy a million horsepower Porsche (and you should be able to), you should be able to buy an "assault" rifle, which is a meaningless term that translated simply means "the scary one from the movies that morons think is fully automatic". Also, to me, while I love these videos that is just one big honking shed full of gorgeous works of art that no one will ever get to see. If you're in a position to buy cars like this, you owe it to yourself, us car enthusiasts who can't, and the people who built them to actually *driiiive* the effing things. These are not investments. It bothers me that they're now valuable enough to be considered as such, but if you want to invest buy real estate, crypto, and stocks. I hope you make a fortune. But every time someone buys a classic car with 15 miles on it, values for every car even remotely similar jump up by several per cent. Absolute shame : /

Totally waste of cars, why just collect the cars and never drive them. I just feel sad for the cars, never get driven and hidden in some random building... I remember James Glickenhaus had this quote “Not driving your Ferrari is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she’ll be more desirable for her next boyfriend,”

Chris Harris, I call Bullshit on comparing owning an assault rifle to a GT2RS. Ask the family members of those who are killed each day here in America which they'd prefer you own. You guys should edit that part out!

Can we stop referencing the miles please mr Harris. I know you’re talking collecting but... the risk is we don’t get to see these cars on the road. They were made to be driven!!!!! Stop hiding all the old beauties (for very few miles) 🙈

I think there should be a law that if you drive one of these either less than 5k miles per annum or can show evidence of 5 proper track days per year for the first 20 years of their life, you should be forced to give (not sell) them back. Beautiful cars, but what a waste. Being an engineer on one of these competes with installing indicators on BMWs for the most depressing pointless job in the planet.

Don't get me wrong it's cool they're such low miles but that means all of these amazing cars have been bought, left in garages, never used and then just shipped to someone else for more money. Kind of pointless. Might aswell be pointless modern art.

Stunning cars. It is such a shame they have not been driven, but for a possible IG post then parked. Most likely investment cars awaiting their inevitable appreciation, then purchased by another collector.
