Thank you for sharing this marvelous dress and the interesting historical context about debuting into society! I particularly enjoyed seeing the different bodices that could be worn with the gown. Seward House Museum is a treasure.

Is this mauveine? It looks like it might be made with the first aniline dye, which would explain why she had never seen the color before and makes the gown even more special.
