Hey guys 👋! Starting out this week I thought I’d share with you some perfumes that may have been obviously missing from my collection, I hope you enjoy and maybe get a little bit of decluttering motivation! Please keep in mind; decluttering a perfume does not mean it’s not a great perfume:) 💕 also I just realized I need to edit my end screen as it still has The Simple Chic Life for Instagram; will fix next time! 💗

I really really recommend decant services. I get that for your channel you want a pretty bottle to showcase but I really think decants are a great way to have fragrances you don’t wear a ton of but still love so you can keep on hand. Intense Cafe, Love Tuberose, Addict, La Belle, Tubereuse Nue. Those are fragrances I love but simply never wear enough to deserve a full bottle and I have 8ml decants. Perfect size. I actually have more decants/travel sprays than bottles because I’ve found I love my variety haha.

I have some small bottles with no spritzer. They are open/dab ones. I rarely wear them because I prefer sprays. Is there a way to decant those?

I love when people exercise their right to change their mind about a fragrance. It happens! These videos really help me as I am starting to broaden my fragrances to stay with loves as best as I can🙂. Bottle or no bottle the video was helpful to be. Thank you

Ilythia, are you seeing inside my mind? I thought I was the only one who needed weeks with a sample of perfume to be able to make up my mind! I have surely made some expensive mistakes. Right now I am feeling the urge to de clutter most of my perfumes, but I am trying to fight that urge because a perfume can perform differently when you are physically out in the world working. I have been teaching from home for over a year and find that I can’t stomach any of my heavier, sweeter perfumes, which was the bulk of my collection. The more sophisticated my nose and taste become, I find the pickier I become. I have to like the top, middle and bottom notes of a fragrance, and it has to have good projection/longevity on me. Quite a tall order.

Hi Ilythia, I really enjoyed your video and can totally relate to what you are saying about scents being great but lacking the right occasion. Happens to me so often: I have too many "special occasion" perfumes or perfumes which work only in a certain type of climate. I realize that I should focus more on these more versatile signature scent -type fragrances. Can you do an updated video on this topic, recommending good versatile easy-reach fragrances?

Dangggggggggg I’m surprised but I’m impressed that you made these cut throat decisions. Delina La Rose is a light perfume! Too light and makes no sense to me, I’m really surprised about the nishane, but yeah niche is mostly an artistry over practicality I have found. I am not so surprised about tobacco vanille. I find tobacco perfumes often fall overly masculine.

To me they don't feel too cut throat lol :). I have been slowly letting these go over the last few months so it felt very natural. I think I let go of even more I just couldn't remember what they all were lol :)

I’ve actually completely done a 180 flip on fragrances before: I have LOVED a scent and then all of the sudden something flips, and I HATE it. It’s really weird, and I hate when that happens.

Try All Saints Metal wave. Not as sweet but to me it has a very similar feeling with a shimmery vanilla, better price point and I ended up liking it more.

Completely agree with taking your time with samples. I’m making a conscious effort to really test and explore my samples before considering purchasing. Fragrance has been a hobby of mine since late 2008, and I have come to the conclusion that the standard for purchasing a full bottle needs to be HIGH. Otherwise, I become overwhelmed with my collection... which is no fun. Thanks for posting 💜.

My jaw dropped when you said you let go of Delina La Rosee and MFK gentle fluidity gold! Truth be told I do find the MFK gorgeous but the longevity is not on par with the price tag (personally).

Tribecca didn't actually shock me, you have said you weren't sure when/where to wear it so I had a feeling you'd let it go someday. Greenwich Village is very wearable and gorgeous 😍

Thin line between love & hate. Depending on many factors, the same perfume u adore can trigger off capricious emotions. I've had perfumes I loved and then instantly hated after a while and couldn't explain why, and also the opposite is true for me. However, one thing I always stay away from is a strong rose & patchuli scent. The rose triggers my migrane and the patchouli makes me feel sick. If they're blended well and I can't smell it, I don't mind it.

I still can’t decide if I want to keep pink sugar or not 😅 it’s nice but I never reach for it over any of my higher quality ones. I’m going to put it away for a while and see if I reach for it! You inspire me to declutter 💞

I have repurchased Pink Sugar on more than one occasion and always end up letting it go back. I like it but I just can't wear it wearmore :/. I think too many old memories attached.

I just got MFK GFG and while I do adore the beautiful caramelly scent, it’s a little soft. I have to overspray it to smell it on me but at least I’m not anosmic to it and I fear that the most if I were to get BR540. Like I would be so mad if I bought that and it does that disappearing act everyone talks about.

Felt the same way about Chanel #19 Poudre. Stunning and loved to smell the bottle but I just didn’t wear it so got rid of it.

Sometimes I have thought I regretted letting one go and there is still the odd one that I think, hmm maybe I should bring it back, but as uwimy mentioned, yeah for the most part I don't ever regret letting them go. I let them go for a reason. Sometimes I forget why, and if I ever do repurchase I usually regret repurchasing. The ODD one I have brought back though throughout the years such as one I'll be sharing in my video later today!

I seem to be having a strange problem with my perfumes - the smell never seems to last more than 20 minutes, even those that everyone else claims lasts for hours and hours on them. Even my boyfriend usually cannot smell them unless I physically get him to smell my clothes. They are all EDPs and collection includes: Black Orchid by Tom Ford, Rouge by NR, Florabotanica by Balenciaga, Alien by Muglar, Jimmy Choo, Zen by Sheisido. I just don't get what I'm doing wrong? Do I need something even stronger?

Hmm maybe you need to moisturize more? Or is it possible you are becoming anosmic to them? (Getting used to the smell so you don’t pick it up on yourself?)

Roses musk is not for me either. A 2mL sample is more than enough for me… I won’t ever go back or miss it once it’s up.

Wow that's amazing - over 200!! :). I used to have over 100 and it was just too many for me. I get overhwelmed and I know I'll never wear them all, I also aspire to have a smaller collection around 30 one day of my absolute faves so 50 is even a bit much some days! :)

I use to LOVE Allure by Chanel, it’s been a favorite of mine for over twenty years but I just don’t like it anymore. The scent doesn’t feel or smell the same to me. I think it has a really dated scent. But that’s just how I feel, now.

Yes never understood layering. If you pay a lot on a fragrance, why would one have to mix to get lasting power. I wore a cheapy the other day and got a complement, which doesn’t happen very often. If it smells good on you does it matter how much it costs? Haven’t received compliments on some of my expensive buys , so what ever works.

It’s a very “opaque” fragrance to me, and I agree with Ilythia that I’d prefer it on a man, but it doesn’t come across as strictly masculine to me, just bold. Chergui is a honeyed tobacco I find bold yet feminine but plenty of men wear it.

La Rose is too light! Like Montale Roses Musk is too light I can’t smell it after smelling the Intense version it just doesn’t make sense. GFG is too light too, but also something bothers me with GFG. Nishane HSW is beautiful, I just received a sample and thinking of purchasing. Tribeca! I am still in shocked about this one! I like spraying this on my wrist night time and sniff it until I fall asleep! I can’t wait for fall for this. Great video! Oh I just got Very Good Girl! Thanks for the recommendation! It does smell like delina also reminds me of After Sunset from Kilian that lychee opening then turns Delina. I love it! I don’t have GG original, I am a GG supreme kinda gal.

Again a big surprise but get the reasons that you have for letting fragrances go. I was wondering if you could let me know your thoughts on Twilly eau Poivree. I saw it at Marshall’s and would like an opinion on it.

The eau poivree is gorgeous - could be a signature scent, it's one of the most classy perfumes I think I've ever smelled. My issue with it was the strength - something about the pink pepper and rose together I'm not sure, something just really was piercing for me and gave me a headache.

Beautiful lady, I understand you that happened to me with la vie belle intensement and some others. You should try Mont Blanc signature is a very nice and beautiful perfume you are going to fall in love with it. I don't yet - but there are a few I have not smelled. I really like Gris Charnel but so far I'm not sure I'd enjoy wearing it. Pas Ce Soir I did not give a really good chance. The red one. (why is my mind blanking), I didn't love that one either unfortunately. Gris Charnel is probably the best I've smelled from the house but again, not sure if I would like to wear it.

I think decants will be the best option for you. I myself have a more thn 60+ bottles i dont need any. Not bcoz i want to keep my collection small like you. But i love to try new perfumes. So i buy a lots of decants. I have 100% decants. I use them and when i am absolutely sure thn i buy full bottle or i spilt a full bottle with my friends

Decants sounds like it would work for me yes but I have a wierd thing about actual bottles; if I like a scent, I want the actual bottle to hold and appreciate and display. But it would be the cost effective way to go :)

I think I am just lucky because of KZbin alot of people know that I have perfumes to sell, so they message me on instagram and its easy to make a sale. Otherwise I would use facebook buy and sell groups, Kijiji, or ebay probably.

I know what you mean about your nose changing like with your Dior Addict. I used to love the original Chloe, had a sample which I loved so I got the rollerball, then the full size bottle and then mid bottle, something happened and I just didn’t like it anymore:( Our noses do change I suppose with age, our tastes evolving, maybe even hormones?

Yes people recommend facebook groups, personally I use instagram but it helps that I have a following from youtube who know I have perfume for sale. But if I didn't have instagram I'd use the facebook groups!
