All new cars that are financed usually come with a GPS plugged into the OBD connection so they can track you or it is directly connected to the battery. They can track how you drive it and everything. Really helpful to voiding your warranty because they will be like "well you went to fast, didn't do proper maintenance, or shifted hard or whatever". I promise you they do this regularly. They can be hidden pretty well honestly and most of the time after you pay it off they just turn off the service or take it off at the dealer. It can also be directly built into it and you won't be able to just unplug it.

Most people have no idea how to wire shit properly. They cut the factory wiring rather than running a fuse tap to a relay for key on power (for things like lights and subs that need a lot of amps. You should only hook up the load side to the battery directly, not the control side). And they use scotch locks, wire nuts, or just electrical tape for connections rather than soldering or crimping with wires that have proper insulation and heat shrink. After having undone some homebrew fuel pump wiring on a few customer cars (the sending unit failed, so they bypassed it and put power directly to the pump. Unfused of course), I wonder how we don't have more electrical fires

I agree dude. Bought a parts ae86 and it was pretty clean looking so decided to fix it up with the other parts I had laying around (I collected Ae86’s stuff). Car had clean title and everything and looked stock. Only an aftermarket stereo. As soon as I started gutting it to do some cleaning and interior replacement I found a whole mess of wires everywhere! And just under the dash there was like a whole roll of wires looped up behind the stereo area and was like wtf is this. So tore the whole thing apart and Yanked all the unnecessary wires out and left only the oem wire harnesses. All the spare wires I pulled I put in a box and it was so heavy it was at least 80lbs almost. Like a 80lb concrete bag. I still have no idea why there was so much wires in there, they didn’t go anywhere besides out the firewall and directly connected to the battery with no fuse. And the ends in the dash were capped (they also ran under the carpet and under the rear seats). I kept the wires til this day to use for spare wires for stuff that needs it. All random gauges too. Anyway cleaned the car up, wired everything correctly and nicely, and gave a nice paint job and sold it to a friend. Car is no longer around tho since they blew the engine and junked it. So sad to see it go that way but oh wells.

Interesting story. I had a '13 Camaro I was financing and I modded it out. I ended up selling it on marketplace and paid it off with someone else's money. They paid for everything and ofc I sold the car and gave them the title after the bank gave it to me. They got a camaro and I was debt free. Some people will help you with these kinds of things. Rare however they exist and as long as you're genuine and don't try to scam them everything will work out.

The BMW with “damaged” title, where I live there’s spots on the back for signing over the title, but it’s only if it’s being transferred to a dealer. If it’s a private sale and you sign it over on that side the title becomes void and only the previous owner can get a new one unless you leave it unregistered for X amount of years then you can get an “abandoned” title if you have bill of sale

Funny to hear Puchii mention a Jetta GLI at 8:30. I have owned a 2014 GLI (2.0 TSI, 6-speed manual) for about a few months, and as of now I owe roughly $3000 towards a low-interest loan. I have already modified it some (including some more "permanent" changes like an ECS clutch stop in which the anchor is drilled into the floor) and plan to further modify it with Unitronic chip tuning and suspension from Bilstein and ECS. Possibly even a CTS Turbo BOSS solution in the way future. I pay $250 a month for the car and will have it paid off easily in just over a year. I don't need to worry about it being repo'd lol

4:28 The Supplemental Restraint System is a fickle thing. 20 bucks says they smacked it over a curb hard enough to trip the forward G sensor and the underside is probably f*cked 6 ways from Sunday. 5:08 the radiator partition cover is ripped to sh*t, a whole chunk is missing, and the Christmas trees are all popped except for the 2 that are still attached to the upper rad support. It plowed up over something.

I'm not sure I'd ever finance a new or used car if I can help it, or really finance anything other than a house or condo to live in at this point. Paid cash for my daily with an insurance payout after my first car that lasted me 8 years was totaled and I can tweak and mod that as long as I can secure transportation to work. If she ends up wrecked or something, I'd buy a fun used ride I can afford to buy outright or at least pay off in less than a year. Avoid buying anything you can't afford to fork over the full amount for, that's my thought.

@15:00 min I have a better version of this car. It was a rental car in Alaska. Dad bought it to add to fleet at auction. He drove it from TX to me in WI to have for a winter beater. It takes it. Did't cost me anything. I beat on it hard for work for several years (it had the breathalyzer on it, my lightning was titled to my mom but we know it just did laps around the apt complex). 2005 Impala great underpowered car, but can go if you are ok w 8 mpg. Floor it time to book it. It is at 108k miles. Not selling. Just a great car. My dad is great at auctions. No rust damage besides me. It's a TX hwy milage car.

Car market is messed up, I paid 17k for my 16 fusion hybrid (tip trim) 84k miles, started at 18% interest and 450 a month. Took a year until I could refinance, now we are at 250 a month and 4%. Keep in mind this was twards the end of covid price hikes that we are still feeling and I was 19 with no credit. You kinda get forced into it sometimes, for me what happened is my grandpa wrecked my old civic and I only had 2k, at that moment the only running car that was able to get me was financed lol

Admittedly I made some mods on my Honda Fit even though the note isn't paid off yet. But every mod I made is easily reversable, I never skipped out on preventative maintenance to make way for them (some required maintenance at the same time like the braided stainless steel brake and clutch hoses. I held off until the car was due for a brake flush since I'd have to bleed it after anyway and I could refill the system with high perfornance DOT 4 fluid (I used Motul RBF 600 in this case)), and I actually have equity in the car. I only owe $6-7k now while it's worth $9-10k. I could easily pull off my parts in a weekend and resell them separately for extra money if I decided to sell the car. Not that I would because I love this car.

Aside from the paint fading way too much and way too soon, and the spark plug coils that fail very regularly, they do are a great little toy car to modify and play with on a track... they don't quite go fast enuff to get into trouble, but they do go fast enuff to make it almoat feel like yur haulin' ass cuz they're so small, especially if lowered a couple inches and given decent tires on offset wheels...

@@JeTTRod The paint was mostly on the 1st gens (GD3s) and the plugs and coils was on those and the 2nd gens (GE8s). Mine is a 3rd gen (GK5). Their issues are mostly due to direct injection. The injectors, high pressure fuel pump, carbon buildup on the intake valves, that shit. Also the VTC actuator (sprocket on the intake can for the variable valve timing) going bad. But those issues can be mitigated largely with shorter oil change intervals, more frequent spirited driving, and being careful where you refuel. There are still some leak issues, but it's only common if you have a sunroof (mine is an LX, so it doesn't). Also the push button starts on these cars are known to fail (again, mine as an LX doesn't have that option). They are super fun to drive and even with it being slow, the amount of speed they can carry into corners lets you surprise people. And I can thrash it and still get 35 MPG.

I've got pretty shit credit but I'm paying $420/mo (nice) for my NEW 2024 Honda civic ex-l. I put $12k down and the payments are over 72 months @10%apr. I had an old beater truck ( 05 Nissan frontier 287k miles, gave it to my grandfather since his last beater died) would've eaten that whole $12k to get fixed properly. I'm obviously paying more than the minimum payment... But god damn I can't imagine paying MORE per month for that USED beaten up ford focus.

There's a dent where the front plastic bumper joins the fender, and the gap to the front of the hood is massive on the left side, and non-existent on the right. It hit something with the front right side, that's what set off the airbag.

Ugh I've dealt with bonded titles in Texas before. If I get the right deal on it, I'll deal with it, but you're going to have to come way down on the price. It's not super expensive if the car is old enough but the cheapest it'll be after the bond, paperwork registration taxes ect is going to be 450ish dollars. Most of that is because Texas won't go below a certain value for their "presumptive value".

I bought a gr86 a year and a half ago. I can't imagine doing that shit to my car 😂 I did buy a catback and a header for it, with some wheel spacers to fix the fitment until I get wheels for it. But I agree about paying the loan down instead of buying mods. There is a ton of stuff I want to buy for it but instead I did the bare minimum to keep me happy until it's paid off. I have been toying with the idea of getting an intake though for more sound. It's just that the stock intake is the best one and also, I'd need to tune for it which adds a fair bit of cost to it. I didn't tune for my header so I don't have anything for that yet, I'm just running a defouler. I really should just keep making huge payments though

Funny story about tags and registration, have a pickup and when i moved to Texas the tax office transposed two numbers on the title, and couldn't register for about 6 months while i was being passed around the different offices because i moved from one county to another before i realized the issue. And local cops pulled me over for expired tags . Different situation Also ordered a vanity plate and wanted on one car but the tax office somehow put it on a different car (same brand), and a family member borrowed the vehicle and was pulled over because his license plate reader registered the place being on the wrong vehicle. Finally sold a vehicle and and the guy and his family wanted a plate to go home said he would mail it back, (i know very bad, but i was in a rush to go) stated charging tolls to me, called the Town cops and they told me to call the tax office, visited the tax office they told me to file a lost plate, did that, and still was charged toll bills for several months and a parking ticket. So yeah my registration runs out and i have nothing wrong with the vehicle i get pulled over. Yet i see people with huge issues with their cars and no registration or expired registration but due the cops pull them over no.

How does that title system work? Here in canada, you just need a bill of sale and your drivers license to get a car registered and insured... ..tho you might also need a safety inspection if it's older than 10 yrs old, but that just depends on your insurance company. Some want it, and some don't... ..but we don't have 'titles' to deal with...

Titles denote what kind of car it is. Helps keep people from buying cars they think are clean that have been broken and slapped back together. It also helps tie it to the state it's registered in and different states have different inspection and tax laws.

@rubberwoody In canada if a car has been "written off" because it's been damaged that badly in a accident, it will have "rebuilt" added to it's registration papwrwork once it's been rebuilt and passed a safety inspection. However we don't actually need the registration paper work to buy, sell or insure and re-register it. We just need a bill of sale from the seller, and that can be just written by hand on a napkin or anything else... so if lose any and all the paperwork to my car that shows I actually own it, I can write a bill of sale on any piece of paper, put the cars serial number on it, sign it, and give it to whoever wants to buy it, the new owner takes whatever paper I wrote it on to his insurance company to get a pink card from the insurance company, then take that pink card and some I.D. to a registry to get a license plate and registry paper, and we can all be on our way... So I could actually write up a bill of sale on a napkin and sell you my neighbors car, and you can insure and register it as your own. It's not until my neighbor complains to police that I sold you his car, before you would be asked who sold it to you, leaving police to try and track me down(if I actually wrote my real name on the bill of sale)... tho police would likely take the car back from you and leave it in an impound yard until they figured out who actually owns it... Our system still really just relies on our honesty to prevent us from selling cars that don't actually belong to us... You are supposed to write down your drivers license number or some other ID number on the bill of sale, but you really don't have to, cuz neither the ins co nor the registry looks to see if an ID number was given... and you really should make a copy of the bill of sale for buyer and seller, in case the buyer crashes and then just walks away from the wreckage 5 mins after buying the car, because when the police show up they will look for the last registered owner, so if you sold it you can give the cops the buyers ID number so they go after that person, and not the seller... ..this semi honesty based system is partially what makes it so easy for these new and very successful "diverse" groups of car thieves that will break into your home at night to get the keys while you sleep, or just follow you in your car as you go home, take the keys from you by force before you can get into your house, let's them make up their own fake paperwork, then they can ship the stolen cars in sea-cans back to their waiting friends and family that haven't yet also illegally entered canada from the middle east/African countries they ship the stolen cars to, so they can be sold off and the money sent back to the thieves still running free in canada, to financially support them on top of the free rent and welfare money they get monthly from canadian taxpayers.... Sorry, a bit of a rant there, but the police have been catching multiple groups of dozens of car thieves, stealing millions of dollars of cars and shipping them out of country every month or so, and every group of thieves caught consists of illegal migrants getting more free welfare money from taxpayers every month, than what hundreds of thousands of canadians are making while trying to survive by working 2 or 3 low paying jobs. And our gov is spending $10's of millions more of taxpayers' money to hire lawyers for those thieves so the thieves can stay out of jail, keep from being deported for their crimes and illegal entry into Canada, and to make sure those free welfare checks keep coming every month to the addresses of the condo's, apartments and houses taxpayers are also paying to rent for the thieves.... ...and I just filed my taxes, and the gov wants thousands more than I've already paid in taxes his year, so I can help pay the rent, give monthly welfare checks to, and to give them free dental care, free health care, eyeglasses etc (that I dont have cuz I can't afford to pay for it for myself) so I can pay for another 1.2 million more illegal migrants to come to canada to get that same free ride of monthly welfare checks, free dental etc, as I sit here with a toothache for the last month cuz I don't have the money to see a dentist and get the tooth pulled... ...but at least the car thieves won't have to worry about a toothache thanks to the money of mine taken away in taxes from my 60 hours a week paycheck... ...just wondering, can ya tell the frustration level of canadians is getting up there due to massive cost of living increases, with that huge increase caused by our gov increasing our population by about 25% over roughly the last 25 yrs, and the vast majority of that 25% of the population living free on taxpayers money for multiple years if not for the rest of their lives, rather than being self supporting by working 1 to 4 jobs like the rest of us.. . ...and my car needs $300 of parts right now that I can't afford... ...but on the bright side, those car thieves can't drive my car away to sell it to someone after shipping it halfway around the world,... tho I'm not sure there's very much demand for 30 yr old corvettes in the deserts... so at least there's that I guess...lol

I had two missed payments on my credit years ago (same account, two months in a row, straight up made a paperwork error, my bad). In 2015. Did the math, realized I could make about 24 payments on a new account to move from 97% to 99% on time (worth a big credit bump). So I bought a car on a 6 year loan at 3.14%, then immediately paid of about 70% of the loan, and paid like $30/month for years to get credit recovered. But you can’t get loans that low anymore, and even if you could no one rebalances the loan’s monthly payment. Still, that’s about the only way I could figure it’d remotely make sense to pay to mod the banks car: travel back in time and get an exceedingly favorable loan after having already screwed up something else.

I modified the bank’s car so that I can keep the $35k I owe them at 3.5% APR compounding at 5.4% APY in 1 month treasury bills along side my extra $100k that I have as an emergency fund outside of my retirement. No point on paying off low interest debt if I get a guaranteed profit in the end.

I remember when i worked in a prison as a CO and there was a CO who had an impala with doors falling off, rust everywhere, it sounded like shit but he had 10k wheels on it. They pulled him into the captains office and asked him how he got so much money to buy those wheels because they knew he was struggling. My bank owned car all ive done, subwoofer, really nice dashcam setup with a tracker and cameras all around wired into the car, and window tints to protect my black interior from the sun here in the desert. I'm fine with the wheels n tires it has but I did go get some nice Michelin and a set of steelies with stuffed ones. And since it's a turbo car there were a couple things to bullet proof like an oil catch can, just things that help protect the car.
