For real, wait the little bit if you see the people at the pump are finishing up, but if they are still mid pumping you're wasting everybody's time by not driving through and utilizing the pump that's empty. Some people have big tanks and others take their sweet old time pumping and then leaving, and you could be at the pump and nearly finished by the time those people are done. It's less efficient by wasting the time waiting for the people at the pumps to finish and leaving a pump that isn't being used empty for that period of time.

(Edit: don't know if it's true, but I've heard several Jatco gooners saying you can get way more life out of the CVT if you completely drain and refill it after the break in period too. Something-something metal fragments from break-in tearing stuff up and restricting flow so draining that fluid early is goooood)

Depends on what kinda gas you gotta put in your tank. It doesn't make as much of a difference if all you need is cheap shit fuckin 86 but if you need premium then it's definitely worth it, I've nearly fuckin saved 20 dollars filling up my tank depending on how much lower it was than the ones near me

your fuel pump sits down inside the tank and not just with a pick up tube for a reason, being surrounded by fuel keeps the pump cooler. best practice is not letting it get below a 1/4 tank

@@seanhopkins8412 decreases lifespan of the pump, although it certainly has been the reason many pumps have gone out early. curious when was the last time you diagnosed the specific reason a fuel pump went bad? unless a car is going through units i don’t see any shop going that deep.

@@seanhopkins8412 airation will kill fuel pump over time, think about when the water is sloshing on braking and acceleration. If you have 1/8th a tank left that is basically 2 gallons of gas in most cars which will cause a lot of airation when the pump is running making it work harder. It most defrinately fail before a fuel pump owned by a responsible driver.

Dumb idea to do this especially if it’s older. You’ll sump up and crap that’s in your fuel tank up to the ‘sock’ by running it that low. If you don’t really go below 1/8 of a tank it’s not a problem since most contaminates would flow at the surface. Don’t run too low or overfill, some idiots overfill and wonder why they ruin Evap systems.

Why though? To see how far you could make it? Just treat it as though the E is empty and you'll know how far you can make it. Fuel sender units will degrade over time and the wiring could get damaged and the resistance the sender uses to measure the fuel level could change, rendering your experiment irrelevant

I was looking at buying a 2017 BMW M4 on the marketplace. He had proof of all maintenance, services, and even had the flaws of the car like the crank hub fixed. Proof of the new motor that had been serviced and installed as mentioned, over 26k in work done on the car in the past year. I go there, find out he still owes 13k on the car and wanted me to take over his loan IN ADDITION to 27k. Said kick rocks and blocked him. I went with a 2017 BMW 340i xDrive for about 22k. Much better car for daily duty, but I did really want that M4.

My 04' Mazda 6 gas gauge is VERY vague but at the same time, E LITERALLY means empty. It will go up and down from the line above it and it's a guessing game when it will drop closer to E. Still never ran out of gas. But you know it's bad when you fill your car up with 0.5 liters of your tanks capacity. 😬

I took over payments on a truck years ago. Dude was moving states and it ended up being what the truck was worth too so it actually worked out. I put 150k miles on that truck. I miss it. So as I’ve gotten older and a little smarter I probably wouldn’t do it again. But I also take chances. The last 3 vehicles I’ve bought my wife were repos from our bank. Mainly because I get 1% on repos.

You don't even need to know by heart which side your fuel door is, it says it right in the instrument cluster. Next to the gas pump icon, there's always a little arrow telling you which side is the right one. RTFM nerds 😜

I might have OCD or something but in my two vehicles, I have a '97 Ram 1500 and a '99 Nissan Quest and I don't let them get under a half a tank of gas. I did put a fuel pump in the truck almost 11 years ago when I first got it and it's still going so far. If you run the gas tank too low all the time you will burn up the fuel pump. Plus it bugs me if the gas hand gets too low, not sure if that's the best thing but I've put 110,000 miles on my truck so far myself and it has 302,850 miles on it all together, 360 V8 so it's always thirsty.

I have sold probably 30 cars on Marketplace in the last 4 years, and you would be surprised - or maybe not - how many people are underwater and trying to get someone to take over payments. Part of it is overspending compared to budget, and some of it is just irresponsibility with money and not understanding value versus depreciation. Either way, there's no way I'm taking over anybody's payments. It's absolutely a recipe for disaster.

I haven't reset my gas gauge after replacing the measure thingy in the gas tank, so when I fill it up, it reads half full, and when it nears empty, I can't help but stop and top it off again. At least my car hasn't dropped below a half tank in years.

And there is a full service Quick Fill where you don't even have to get out of the car that is right across the street and it's only a nickel more and a tip for for the attendant. And there is no mile long line. Fully worth it in these Upstate NY winters I live through.
