After about a 20 year absence from the hobby, one thing I've noticed I don't like about the modern Era is the amount of relic and autos they produce these days. Now they're almost just as much as a common is worth unless you get a big time star. The thrill of receiving one is diluted when it says 2 per box.

Wish I had the money and resources to buy vintage but there very few card shows where I live. I'm finishing up collecting soon with a few cheaper Kobe cards. I did see a Charlotte Orange 1980 Ripken on ebay other day in a PSA 1 but asking price was very high. Thanks for sharing your purchases with us. If there was a Masterclass of sports cards, I'd like only you to be the teacher.

That was fun seeing what you buy to sell. Buying in bulk and selling is very interesting and specialized as you said most dealers do not know what to do with the cards. I watch in amazement as you caculate your profit.

That one 3-row box filled with baseball commons to 1974 was the coolest thing I ever saw you buy! (I would have loved to buy something like that for myself). The last card shown in the very last box was an Emmitt Smith rookie - it can be worth a lot in a high grade. I just sent one off to HGA to get graded.

I applaud your enthusiasm for junk wax stars in large lots….I bought enough of those packs in my early 20’s to ever want to see another one. Infact I believe I trashed most of them as I got tired of lugging them around

This is like subscribing to a Master Class series! I especially love hearing your thought process on you plans for each purchase. That’s very helpful for someone like me who’s starting to sell their collection, but know of nothing besides eBay and COMC. I’m sure it could get complicated on how you chose what goes where, but I would like to hear you logic on how you make the determination of where you send singles in a future video. Does it depend on year, player, graded vs raw, fees? This is all very interesting!

Chris, towards the end you mentioned 2nd year Tom Brady cards (2002). I also see a lot of eBay listings of 2002’s labeled 2nd year, but aren’t they 3rd year?? His Rookie is 2000, and he doesn’t have many 2001 cards (I think there are 3, like the 2001 UD Rookie F/X), but because there are only three 2001’s aren’t the 2002’s all 3rd year?

Chris, another good video as usual! Question for you. What are your long term thoughts on Derek Jeter 1993 SP (raw but looks to be NM). I have someone from my local card shop trying to sell me this card for only $200 because he believes with the higher pop counts it would not be a good long term investment. I collect because I love to collect and wouldn't mind adding this card to my collection, but as the old saying goes, "your wants usually outweighs your wallet." I have other cards that I am focusing on, but am possibly interested in this card. Decision totally on me, but just wanted to get your thoughts as long term investment? Thanks in advance.

Hey Chris as always great show topics etc. I've been collecting on and off since 1985. Our government has been talking, how it's time to raise interest rates and some assets will probably be affected, Sport cards went up last couple yrs for many reasons, I believe the main reason was the low interest rates(cheap money), Graded cards have been really great for hobby, especially when your buying online, & Covid lockdowns (people had got back into card collecting because people were stuck at home, Jordans documentary was released) Sorry about the rambling, but I have alot of concern about sports cards are addicted to these stimulus checks & low rates. Once they start raising interest rates, possible 2% in next yr or 2, This will change where people put their money & Sport cards could easily go down to pre covid prices

That could be the case, but I have been in the hobby 30+ years and seen all sorts of ups and downs. I dont think the hobby will ever just collapse. It may have some down ticks here and there like any industry.
