I loved hearing you talk about gender and self expression, but don't question whether you're making sense! I mean this from a place of love, but women so often qualify their thoughts with, "I don't know" or "I'm just rambling". You're not! You're well educated and passionate and I appreciate it

Yes! Women say "I'm sorry" way more than men and in a lot of situations where a man would never even think of saying im sorry. Like when I hear a man vs a woman supervisor speak to employees there is almost never any of that kind of speak from the man where the woman will be much more apologetic even if they're just trying to deseminate information to staff

Kids are honestly magical! My grandmother that raised me died 19 months ago and she was seriously my best friend and the sweetest person on the planet, this covid stuff is going on so instead of keeping myself extra busy I'm forced to feel my emotions and it's difficult, plus my father died in May, AND my grandmother's house that my bro has been living in just caught fire on Sunday. The garage is completely gone, but thankfully the house just has a lot of smoke/water damage. The world is a scary and uncertain place for everyone right now, but I swear, kids are amazing. My son (26 mo) will see me crying and say "momma's crying!" and then give me a hug and a kiss. He always makes me feel so much better, even when I'm feeling like I'm at my breaking point. I'm so glad that you get to enjoy the wonders of motherhood ❤️ *Edited to add: everyone in the house is SAFE 🙏 God was looking out for my bro and our family!

ya my family is a long line of men telling their sons to “suck it up and be a man or else i’ll give you something to cry about” and they’re all tragically emotionally undeveloped as a result.
@AlyshaAmori1014 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your perspective. I am female but grew up around all men. I spent the majority of my life being told to "suck it up" and that "crying is weak" and that I am "too emotional". I also had tremendous angry issues in my youth, and personally I do think they are related for me. I have spent most of my adult life unlearning this and learning to express my emotions in a healthy way. I don't think feelings should have to be about your gender or sex. ALL people should learn to process and express themselves in healthy ways.

Yes, I totally believe we should teach our children to show emotion, and to talk about their feelings. Especially when it comes to middle school and high school, because that’s when things get real, and we start to develop more of our mental health. We need to teach our kids that talking about their emotions with people is okay, and I think that would make a huge difference with teens in middle and high school. P.S. There was a recent tragedy in our school, before Covid-19 was that big of a deal, and I think teaching kids to express emotions may have helped prevent this.

It’s ok to cry and as you said before, feelings are great because it lets other people know how you feel. And what you said about Flynn shows how much you care for him and adore him and that is what makes an amazing mom. 🥰

I feel like I would be the person who, if they saw Colleen in real life (instead of just seeing her on a screen) I wouldn’t know what to do, and just freak out and faint of joy and just be speechless😵😍 I just LOVE her personality and her caring and loving mother skills. She is open to talking about the truth and she just wants to help others

Colleen I recommend watching a film called ‘Hidden Figures’ it is amazing I honestly think it is sooooo underrated there are 3 characters (4 if you read the book) and they work for NASA and the main lady (they are all black women) is called Catherine Goble-Johnson and she gets promoted and she has to walk 5 miles everyday just to go to the BLACK WOMEN only restroom/bathroom. DISCLAIMER I watched this when I was in 4th grade (which is year 5 where I live in England) I was 9 by the way xx You r welcome to do more research!! Tyson for your time xx

You are the mom that I want to become when I have kids. You are so thought full and loving of your son. You are doing an amazing job teaching him what life is really about, like values and love for other people no matter their gender. I love you and you’re my example. ❤️

I’ve noticed actually that if a woman says how she feels she’s told to calm down as if we have an attitude even though they are calm just upset. Especially if she tends to usually be on the quieter side. The amount of times I’ve been told to calm down because ive spoken up rather than being the quieter girl I am is sad. Same with someone who I work with. I witnessed her supervisor get upset and tell her to calm down when she was expressing how something made her feel, and she was clearly calm just upset.

My family tried to teach me and my little cousins that girls are the only ones that are allowed to cry and boys are supposed to keep their feeling inside and when my dad found out he literally went over to my aunties house and even though she is 15 years older than him he screamed at her and was like " why you teaching my daughter and my niece and nephew that I didn't teach your sons that and it isn't true we all saw your husband and our dad cry when all of my kids were born all of our brother's kids were born and when your kids were born" and I was just like YAAAAAAS girls and boys can cry its natural
