My advice would be to socialize as much as possible and make new friends wherever! Strike up conversations with people while in line for coffee, sitting down for class, during move in, etc. College can be very overwhelming but it's much more bearable when you have friends by your side! Good luck, you're gonna kill it :)

when you apply can you choose your preference for singles vs doubles?

It seems like they changed the housing application this year so you can request one roommate (essentially requesting a double) or you'll get either a single or triple
