I trust Ohio States Defense completely, and I think they can get a few big plays. Ohio State has only given up more than 280 yards of offense twice. Oregon and Texas. I can’t see Notre Dame moving the ball. They have a chance because Will Howard is basically getting more accurate, but that’s made him more confident, and he’s not Stroud he’s made some nice throws that I think Notre Dames DBs could take advantage of, that’s their best chance. I’m conflicted about how good Notre Dames DBs are, this is easily the best QB and receiver group they’ve seen, and it’s not particularly close. I keep thinking about Ohio States Offense against Michigan, and Notre Dame’s defense against USC, we’ll see, but I think OSU will be able to throw enough to open up their run game.

I graduated from Notre Dame in 1991 and witnessed the football team's heyday. I rushed the field with other students as a sophomore on 1/2/1989 when ND won its last championship. Decades later, I got a master's degree at Florida in SEC country. So, I have generally leaned towards the SEC the past 15 years and noticed the lack of success for ND in big games like against Alabama. But this year is different. First of all, the new factors are NIL, the transfer portal, and the 12-team playoff. That ND-Penn State game was a classic 1980s style of slugfest. When ND played Georgia, I honestly thought the Bulldogs would win. But my comment was that ND has a "puncher's chance". I felt the same about the Penn State game. Notre Dame has proven the "puncher's chance" is not to be underestimated despite being overlooked for its roster, statistical output, and early loss to NIU. I agree with Depressed Ginger that Ohio State appears to have a stronger team with higher odds of winning, but don't underestimate the "puncher's chance" of ND. That "punch" of an offense has been proven effective despite influencers haven written them off the past several games. The hidden variables look like injuries. I saw a lot of wincing in pain and limping among star OSU football players. They weren't as dominant against Texas compared to Oregon. Some of the linemen moved like they have early symptoms of spondylolisthesis. I think injuries could catch up to Ohio State in the final game. But to be fair, ND has injured players too. It'll be interesting to see how much of a factor that becomes.

I was super nervous for the Texas game because their defense is solid and their offense has potentail to pop off. After that showing by our defense I don't see them having a let down against a worse defensive and offensive team. ND future is bright as Freeman is a GREAT cooach, but the talent difference is big.

Ohio St's defense is clearly the best in the country and one of the greatest defensive units of all time. Their defensive unit is much more dominant than the offense and only had one bad game in their one point loss against Oregon. Notre Dame hasnt faced an elite passing team like Ohio St. who can move the ball effectively and generate big plays down the field.

The currently have the 2 toughest schedule in the country and have held their opponents to 12.1 ppg. They are first in total yardage and passing yards allowed while being 3rd in defending the run. The Buckeyes were 5-1 against the top 12 teams overall and held them to a total of 18 ppg. In their 5 wins against top 12 teams, they held them to 16 ppg if you include the points scored during garbage time when they dominated Oregon, Indiana, and Tennessee.

OSU allowed Texas to dictate the game Friday. Looked very much like the offense against TCUN. Day and Chipster need to run the offense they had against Tennessee and Oregon: a lot of motion and misdirection. Spread them out more. I have full confidence in the patchwork OSU ol against the ND DL without Mills. The DLs of Tennessee, Oregon and Texas were like ly just as good or better than NDs. Texas had the most formidable. As long as the ol can keep the pocket clean for WH I expect the OSU O to do work.
