I most always agree with my boy Josh Pate, but I was undecided on the overtime rules however after watching the Georgia Tech @ Georgia game I have to agree with David on the current overtime rules - don't change a thing

Agree, there’s no perfect solution, but what we have is about as good and as fair as we can get.

In the event of a tie, the team to last hold the lead is granted choice of kickoff vs recieve. The team to that came from behind to tie is granted field direction. Round 1: Team A kicks off to Team B. Team B's objective is to drive the ball down the length of the field and score. Any turnover on downs, punt, fumble or interception, the game becomes sudden death. If Team B drives the ball down the field and scores, we move on to round 2. Round 2: Team B kicks off to Team A allowing them to match the score made by Team a or win if applicable. Any turnover in downs at this point, ends the game. Team A must at least match (fieldgoal or touchdown) to move on to Round 3 Round 3: Field direction turns opposite of first two rounds. Team A has matched Team B's score (fieldgoal or touchdown). Team A kicks off to Team B and the same rules as round 1 apply, except now there are only three downs to achieve a first down. Once again, any punt or turnover on downs creates sudden death. Round 4: assuming Team B scores again. Team A has opportunity to match or win with the 3 down rule. In the event the game is not settled in a 15 minute overtime period. A two point conversion shootout, similar to todays shootout, except the team that has possession of the ball at the expiration of the 15 min period goes first moving opposite field. And then the teams go back and fourth switching sides of the field. Differently from the 2-2-2-2 format I look forward to feedback

Agree 100% - one reason not to make Pate the Commissioner as he always claims he is going to be someday

at this point I've seen at least once where every "non-reviewable" call ended up being reviewed. and now with GA vs GT I saw a team get TWO 2min timeouts

While so much of the college game (playoff structure, conference inequity, OT rules) are goofy and imperfect, we all love it deep down inside. It adds to the drama… albeit accidentally. The media-heads love it, keeps everyone talking and shaking their fists at the sky, essentially arguing to nobody.

I'd love to see a 9-3 SC team get in and run the table!

When UGA got flagged for the sideline infraction (not a warning), why didn’t the refs move the ball halfway to the goal line? They didn’t move the ball from the original 2pt conversion spot. Should have been on the 1.5 yard line.

The refs could have called 37 men on the field… and probably should have!

The first time or two they get a sideline warning, it’s not a penalty. They just throw a flag and announce a warning

New overtime’s suck. This is not soccer. It is football. Line up in the 50 and make people earn it more.

The 2 point conversion it is awesome. Keeps you glue to the Tv. Even if you don’t care about the game or sport. My wife was texting me from bed last night about the insanity of the GA vs GT game.

The portal, nil, & the loss of an East & West division has created the parity in the SEC. The playoffs have just made every game mean more. The problem is the format & the early portal...

The OT rules are a joke. Going for 2 over and over is stupid. Maybe basketball should go to this. Here you get one shot, I get one shot. Whoever makes a shot when the other doesn’t wins. The excitement would depend on where they were shooting from. I didn’t enjoy watching it. I’ve never liked starting at the 25 either. I think the 50 is better because you have to move the ball or make a play to get into scoring position.

@@chasejackson7248 The game was good. I don't enjoy the 2 pt ot rule. It's like having a freethrow contest to decide a basketball game.
