As soon as Kennesaw got a football team I knew it would be competitive. The metro Atlanta area is a hot bed for football talent in itself. You can find alot of hidden gems in these schools and then you still have the rest of the state to recruit

Too bad you got other teams in the same hotbed or near it. They're at the bottom of the Atlanta pool in the FBS. Even if you don't include Jacksonville St, you still got Georgia State and the other major Georgia schools sucking up all the talent. On top of the fact they won't even recruit in Cobb, even though KSU is in a major hotbed, that alone will not provide much success at all.

It's hard to say how successful KSU will be, but this first season will be crucial. The transition year was a disaster (0-6 vs. D1 opponents). The bright spot is that when not juggling redshirts the Owls lost to Furman (#7 FCS), UTC (#14), and FBS Sam Houston by only a combined 12 points. I still think the 2024 ceiling is 7 wins, but things could get really ugly if the transition from the Triple Option isn't figured out ASAP.

My Alma Mater 💪🏿 I was at KSU during the creation of the football club. The years leading up to 2015 saw a huge enrollment boom, also KSU buying out Southern Poly and merging with them helped the enrollment numbers as well. These enrollment numbers allowed the school to craft a legit ball club compared to if they would’ve did it like in 2009 or 2010.

Idaho was already there, I'm kinda surprised they didn't upset the fcs powerhouses to get atleast to the final four of those playoffs, but they're definitely a top fcs school because they we're competitive against the North Dakota State, Montana State, South Dakota State teams. They'll be the next team back to the fbs unless one of those teams join before them they're in line to go back.

I went to Kennesaw State in 2002 before enlisting in the USAF in 2004; KSU, by the late 90's, was no longer a commuter school and by the time I went there they had opened brand new dorms. They had a winning D-2 Baseball and Softball program. KSU will grow even quicker in football than they have since 2015 as there is a ton of talent in Cobb County (Harrison, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, McEachern, Kell, South Cobb, Parkview, Marietta are just some of the schools in the area).

I worked at a mall close to KSU. Around the end of 2022 a customer who worked at a local construction company said that KSU was negotiating with the owners of the mall about purchasing it and using the land for a new stadium, but the problem was that some stores still had leases with the mall that refused to give it up until their contract was finished.

There's a handful of schools in the Big Sky & MVFC that could band together and make the move if the Pac-2 followed through with the MWC semi-merger, as they could backfill the MWC after moving the top 6-8 teams into the PAC, but that's the only way they'd be able to do it.

FCS to FBS/CFP/NY12/Non-Autonomy move up schools are as follows that I think will happen sooner than later: 1. SFA 2. Villanova 3. NDktSt 4. SDktSt 5. NDkt 6. SDkt 7. MoSt 8. EWash 9. Abilene Christian 10. Idaho 11. Montana 12. Montana St 13. Southern Utah 14. Northern Arizona 15. Central Arkansas 16. Northern Iowa I think all of these schools move back to FBS like they were before the split from 1978-1982 and then in later years other conferences moved down to D1AA football or dropped football to remain D1 athletic and academic schools. I also think Dayton and VCU move up to FBS and EKU and Chattanooga and possibly The Citadel much later on. But within the next 10 years I think my list of 16 schools either all or most move up.

@@dylanthevillain1666as a 2024 grad I think the main issue has been that most the students grew up UGA fans, and many will go to Athens on weekends (especially due to the lack of bars in Kennesaw as most go to Buckhead to party). Plus the school has struggled to market their events at times. I think that the basketball team’s March Madness appearance proved the students will come out when they have a notable enough team to stick around on weekends, something that an FCS team doesn’t really provide. I think a winning record in FBS would be what convinces the student body as a whole that it’s worth showing up for and missing a weekend in Athens or Buckhead
