If you get a large you dont need a refill who gives af about that 20 cents
@Fadaar4 жыл бұрын
American food joints you get the combo which is fries (or whatever) + drink, usually the same size. I'd think most people pick the size of the fries they want not necessarily the drink. Now if you're ordering JUST a drink small is the way to go. That isn't ALWAYS the case though, some places there's only like a 10 cent difference between sizes (so 20 cents more for a large) and the cup is goddamn twice as big, so fill that bad boy up before you leave and get way more bang for your buck.
@GDIGhostStalker4 жыл бұрын

As someone who’s lived in America my entire life, everything they said is true. Portion sizes are ridiculously, cinema prices make no sense, I have actually seen a lard dispenser for popcorn and it’s disgusting. And spray cheese should not be a thing because it is absolutely disgusting.
@aruakise98033 жыл бұрын
Their cinema prices were about the UK and Australia. American cinemas are catching up in terms of price gouging though. I'm assuming the lard on popcorn is a Midwest thing? I've never seen it on the East or West Coasts. And the spray cheese thing is peak Whiteness. The what are seasonings kind of white. As for our ridiculous portion sizes the way I've always heard it explained was its a two fold from cowboy culture who did actually need to eat that much and from the Great Depression when food was more scarce and for awhile eating for pleasure/eating being enjoyable at all was kind of demonized and so the portions increased as a hey here so you have something to help tide you over for the next while after this. But yeah. Even if we're not expected to eat all of it there its still wild, and don't get me started on how drink sizes have ballooned (the small in many places now was the large of the 90s and early 2000s) or how they took inspiration from bowling allies and their football sized drinks.

Or the time where i ate nothing but a single 20cm cake for an entire week because i was too broke to afford anything. Thank you grandma, that cake saved me that week. And, for the poop story, i remember walking out of the elevator only ot find a massive, solid fucking turd that smelled like dread and decay, right before the elevator doors. Unhumanly large, too. Also, is it always the 'drunkening' the first week of the school year at the dorms? Frankly, I've never known anyone who just *loves* it, myself included, but it IS good to a lot of people and nice on Ritz crackers. Those who just spray it in their mouths are weird but then again, add a smoked bacon flavor to it and I'd probably give a mouthful a try just once. I think my family has ever bought this stuff once or twice when I was a kid. I've maybe had it once in my adulthood and I'm 31 (yes, a dinosaur, I know). I think the stuff gets too much flack for just how infrequently it's actually purchased. Kind of like American's view of Vegemite, even if you use just a little like recommended. I think everyone's cuisine from their country has something that the rest of the world probably finds an oddity. Or a cultural practice.

When I was studying programming in college the Indian tutorials were always the most to the point and useful tutorials. There are two main types of programming tutorials online, 20 minute Indian tutorials that explained everything that you needed to know, or 4 hour Native English Speaker tutorials that explained the bare minimum they could and mostly filled the tutorials with random information or used up a lot of time tutting their own horns.

when they were talking about the losing accents thing, the term for this is "foreign accent syndrome" in which if a person for example an Aussie is living in America or some other country they develop that country's speaking habits such as the hard "R's" that's why Joey and RubberNinja (Ross) has lost their accents although Ross is more noticeable due to him living in America, Joey has a more Aussie accent due to him living in a country that its main language isn't English therefore only pronouncing words differently than how Aussies do (Sorry for the long rant it's just interesting to me)

As far as the American things that were brought up: Restaurant portions are somewhat out of control, but taking leftovers home is pretty common. Appetizers and Desserts are almost always not meant for a single person. They are for an entire table of 4 people to be able to share one, especially if the dessert is expensive you need to ask how big the dessert is. The movie theater butter dispenser is an affront to God, but we are disgusting and would be furious to have popcorn that wasn't soggy with butter. And salt. Extra salt. Don't you dare talk badly about spray cheese or Kraft singles. That plastic taste is as American as it gets. Motels: you should be surprised if someone ISN'T shot on the premises at some point.

Once you mentioned the extra salt part, this reminds how the food here in my country is really salty, to the point where some people call it unhealthy.

Connor's experience with the women trying to make him pray reminds me of when I was at uni and one of my friends who was really religious. And he kept asking me if I was ready to die and ready to face god when I die. It really freaked me out.

If they don’t go to New York, L.A., Chicago, Portland, Seattle, or anywhere else where Antifa riots are going on unchecked due to elected officials not doing their job(becuz they are communists and they want the upheaval) then maybe it could be cool. Oh yeah. Avoid Minneapolis too.
