To address the IU situation, I'll share what I said elsewhere: The solution is for all teams to play the weakest schedule possible so that everyone has the best opportunity to go 12-0 in the regular season. That's the logical conclusion of only determining ranking by who's record is cleaner.

@@Nberente5 the pot calling the kettle black. both Indiana and Texas are over ranked. you can have your flowers when you are undefeated (or in Texas' case, sitting on top of the SEC because you drew one team in the top half so far), but with those weak schedules, if you drop another, or in Indianas case, the only team that keeps your SoS from bottom 10, your resume wont stack up against the top 4 in the SEC.

OSU has been rotating 8 o-lineman all year with injuries. The starter at center last year is a solid replacement. I’m getting the sense that this injury and the Indy Cinderella story are getting OSU Very focused on this game. Some people actually think Indy can win🤷‍♂️. Vanderbilt would probably make the championship game in the Big 12 or ACC. They've been horrible historically but this year they've got 3 SEC wins and a win against a power 4 noncon opponent, Virginia Tech. They're a 3 point OT loss to Missouri, another top 25 team, from being 7-3.

@ and this is the delusion that I talk about with SEC fans. You just spewed all of that, but conviently left out that they lost to GEORGIA ST. And need I remind you, Georgia st is currently 2-8. Besides Alabama, they haven’t beaten a p5 team with a winning record. You sec fans swear top teams would come to the SEC and lose 4 games, but Texas A&M, who was average in the B12 came in the conference, first year went 11-2 and had a heisman winner. Mizzou went to back to back Sec championship games their first 3 years, and Texas is otw to the SEC championship most likely. Every time a team comes into that conference, they instantly have success. So stop thinking that these mid tier SEC teams are gonna dominate and other conferences. Im not in favor of making structural changes to how the rankings work, especially for the SEC ranked lower than B1G argument, because I think the situation with the B1G is a temporary issue. Penn State is often used as an example of this schedule disparity but in most years, a schedule that features @WVU, @USC, @Wisconsin, OSU, Washington is a darn tough schedule. There are a lot of years where the SEC is top heavy like the B1G is this year and I would caution people against making big changes because these things are cyclical.

My top 12: 1) Oregon, Don’t do the same thing everyone did to Washington last year when they barely beat Oregon. They beat Wisconsin on 8 consecutive weeks with no rest in one of the toughest night environments. 2) Ohio st, they’re good, let them earn their ranking over Oregon should they play again in the championship game. This is where it gets tough… 3) Georgia, they’ve got a head to head against Texas, and a better resume than Alabama, and they’re all about equal in my mind. 4) Alabama, If Texas loses I’ll put them over Georgia. 5) Texas, the only reason they’re above Indiana is the Michigan game. They deserve credit for a blowout win there. Thank you for pointing out their schedule. I feel like everyone loves to point at Indiana when there’s many teams that have an equal or worse resume with a loss. 6) Indiana, They will be number 2 next week if they win…if they lose though I don’t know. 7) Penn st, if Ohio st loses they should be in trouble…they won’t be but they should be. 8) Ole Miss, I don’t like their schedule either but they beat Georgia so here we are. 9) Notre Dame, They can’t lose again. 10) Tennessee, idk what to make of them at this point. 11) Boise State, Who else are you gonna put up here, Miami? Don’t make me laugh 12) SMU, idk who else to put here man.

@@CollegeFootballNerds It's true that Alabama has some good wins but they have two loses. One to a mediocre team and one to a team that is mediocre on offense, so it's a mixed bag. While I understand the SOS schedule argument, there is nothing definitive about it. Just because a team hasn't beat a good team doesn't mean they are incapable. How do you guys give credit to Bama going to Wisconsin during the day and in a game where Wisconsin lost their Starting QB a good win but PSU doesnt get credit for it when they won with a back up QB , OT, and DE who didnt play the second half and won by 2 scores in a night game. Why does penn state never get credit 😂. You guys do this routinely with SEC teams. Everyone and their mom can play the same team but you guys will go through mental gymnastics to make it seem like SEC did it so much better and that the other teams struggled or looked bad until you look at the context of how the game played out. As a PSU fan I expect nothing less. I want nothing more but for PSU to win out and get a home game. Just to see people cry about it. I look at what youre saying like this. If PSU or any big 10 team had Vandy, SC, LSU ( who lost to USC), kentucky, Arkansas. And they lost to anyone of them. You would not be making excuses for losing to those teams. You'd be absolutely punishing them. SEC teams for years have been propped up by the media and they always get these rankings yet most years they cant beat anyone out of conference bowl game wise or preseason. None of those teams are locks to beat IND. PSU. ND. Etc. Especially when fanduap has the matchup as pickems.

Honestly Penn State is always the go-to "punching bag" for CFB media and talking heads. Notre Dame is usually a close second that people love to sh*t on. I believe it's because everyone resorts to saying Penn State "loses to OSU and Michigan every year and beat everyone else" since it's said be literally everyone and an easy way to summarize the season for casuals. Historically the national media has screwed Penn State out of many National Titles back in the day so it goes a long ways back.

Break each power 4 conference in half and create divisions that can be rotated yearly. The big ten has 18 teams so that's two divisions of 9 teams. The teams in the division would play each other once, plus play one team from the other division. That's 9 games. They can still have their tune up games or rivalry games with 3 games remaining available. Get rid of the conference championship games and reward the division winners automatic bids. That's 8 guaranteed spots for the power 4. Expand the playoffs to 24 and play the first 16 the same weekend as conference championships. The group or 5 will have 3 guaranteed spots in the tournament if they finish the season ranked. If they finish ranked inside the top 24 they are almost guaranteed to make the 24 team playoff anyways. If the playoffs were set up like this right now, there would be 4 group of five teams in the playoffs. The college football committee would select who gets a first round bye. First round byes are reserved for division champions. They would also select all the remaining teams to make the field and their matchups. They could do a huge segment on TV just like college basketball. If they eliminated the conference championships and added 24 teams, it would make the season at most 17 games. I see no issue with this considering the NCAA will be paying players starting in 2026. If Boise State ends up going 11-1 they would have technically won their division in the way I have it set up. They could still get a bye in the 24 team playoff. Play the first round in the same stadiums the conference championships would have been held. Reward the bye teams with a home playoff game in the second round. The remaining games would all be natural fields just like the first round. The conferences that receive automatic bids all have what I call final four rights. All of these conferences have made the traditional 4 team playoff. The PAC 12 would still have final four rights once they have at least 8 teams in the conference. They can gain a second automatic bid when they reach 16 teams. This will encourage more expansion and growth throughout the final four rights conferences. I wouldn't have more than 20 per conference. The group of five can earn final four rights if a team from their conference reaches the final four. That will grant the conference a automatic bid or two automatic bids if they have 16 or more teams. That would encourage more teams to transfer to a new conference with final four rights. It would control and help direct realignment

I’m writing an article about this but I’ll shorthand it just to see your take. If you aren’t explicitly a fan of the SEC the concept of fairness isn’t really something that people really should consider. The sport is inherently unfair to begin with and is built for the SEC teams to succeed before the season even begins. SEC has recruiting hotbeds, warmer weather for recruits, historical ties to programs, in some cases absurd amounts of money and donor bases. This results in a completely disproportionate dispersion in talent that is impossible to reconcile except for a few various teams in other conferences that have some of these equivalencies. So the point is if we were playing monopoly and the SEC gets to start with a hotel on board walk and 10x the amount of money. You think non-fans actually care if one of the players gets a few lucky rolls and gets some nice chance cards? Like why do I care if Indiana got an easier schedule this year by chance? They can’t really help that they play both teams in the title game from last year and both those teams regressed. I think CFB is significantly more fun when teams get lucky every once in awhile. If we actually want to care about fairness maybe the SEC should hand over a few 5 stars. Because at this point the game is already rigged before the season starts and it isn’t really ever going to change.
@NateFennelly
@NateFennelly 2 ай бұрын
And not only are they built to succeed they only have to play 11 games because in week 10 they can just choose to play st marys school for the blind. It’s really hard for myself as a fan of the sport in its entirety and not explicitly the SEC to really care at all if something doesn’t go the SECs way.

Indiana has more in control of their schedule than the SEC has control of their location and weather. If Indiana wanted to be taken more seriously, schedule better OFC teams. They 100% have control of that part of their schedule. Fairness is an AD from the B1G properly ranking teams and not placing all the B1G teams in a spot where they get home playoff games. Fairness is properly scheduling teams so they aren't given a free path to the playoffs cough "Penn St" cough cough "TX' cough. Get off your soft horse and stop looking for hand outs. This sport is so broken right now with autobids and nobody knowing how to make a schedule or properly rank teams. "Luck" isn't the answer. Just ask TCU with all their last min luck wins in their regular season and their lucky calls against Michigan... Then they played Georgia in the most god awful Championship game of any type I've ever seen. Just give me the 8 best teams, no auto bids and have them fight it out.
@NateFennelly
@NateFennelly 2 ай бұрын
@@JustN0pe3 I’m not sure you understood my position. I’m saying this sport is very much designed to benefit the SEC inherently. I don’t actually have a problem with it because CFB is great I just don’t pretend that fairness is part of this sport in any way. That was my point where if one conference (including the top part of the big ten) starts with a hotel on boardwalk I just don’t really care if something happens to them unfairly. If that makes sense.

I tried to put this into words but it was way too long. A huge issue this year is the top two conferences have a good amount of teams with 8-9 P4 games which makes comparison harder and also for the top levels teams makes going 1-2 losses easy. 10 P4 games should be a requirement. I respect the hell out of LSU, USC, UGA, Penn State actually reaching that number even if it made life worse for all of them.

1 Oregon - self explanatory 2 Ohio State - again self explanatory 3 Ole Miss - this is gonna be controversial and that’s okay, they’re playing probably the best ball in America out of the bye, they just dog walked Georgia by 3 scores (and it could’ve been much MUCH worse) so the fact that you 2 and a large majority of people around the country have Georgia over them is ludicrous. 4. Indiana - idk if they’re better than the next 2 teams but they have similarly weak schedules, just no loss, will reevaluate next week 5. Notre dame - the loss, yes I know, horrible. But these cats are playing some unreal football right now and I don’t envision that stopping, playoff lock at this point 6. Penn State - winning a lot of games but lost to the best team they played, their loss is better than Texas IMO 7. Texas - winning a lot of games but bad schedule and lost to the only good team they’ve played 8. Georgia - head to head with Tennessee and honestly I know Bama won but Georgia was on the cusp, and honestly I just think Georgia is better 9. Tennessee - head to head with Bama and I don’t think last weeks game is a true definition of who this team is 10. Alabama - WAY too much stock getting placed in the LSU game, they’re figuring some stuff out but I don’t agree with the masses thinking this team is the best in the SEC 11. South Carolina - I know this will be rustling some jimmies and so will the next one but…. No one in the country wants to see South Carolina on a football field, they’ve had 1 objectively bad performance against Ole Miss and could’ve easily won the Bama and lsu games with a couple changes in the way the ball bounced. This team is great. 12. SMU - playing good ball, honestly more tempted to put like a Colorado or an A&M here but gotta respect that they’ve only lost 1 game to a solid team on the road

A&M being left off Josh's "big teams in the SEC" list. Thanks for nothin LSU and Mizzou, we have no quality wins now :( Whats extra screwy is - Texas A&M has a very real path to the SECCG and ergo, the playoff. A&M just has to finish 2-0 against Auburn on the road and texas at home. Both of those games are very winnable, Auburn is Auburn and the horns dont look immortal. Their away games have been noon games at Vandy and Arky, neither come even close to Kyle Field at night. There were over 105k fans for A&M vs NMSU, which would be the largest crowd *ever* at the longhorns stadium. Theres gonna be 110k at Kyle and the energy after a 12 year hiatus will be unmatched, not writing that game off to the horns for a second. Do i fault yall for not talking about A&M at all this video? Not one bit, we are a flawed football team. We dont play natty contending, barely even conference championship contending football. Despite the better record, i think Ole Miss would beat us by 14. We benefited from a convenient schedule and cuz of it, have a shot at a place we probably shouldn't and its only *year 1* of a coaching regime.

I would be careful to put the SEC on a pedestal just yet. Here’s their non conference resume. Georgia killed Clemson, great win Texas killed Michigan, good win but it’s Michigan. If they beat OSU my some miracle I’ll give them more credit. LSU lost to USC and squeaked by UCLA, but we’re giving SEC teams credit for beating a team that can’t handle the middle of the Big Ten A&M lost to Notre Dame…who decided to lose to Northern Illinois…and they could still win the SEC Vandy lost to Georgia Southern, and beat Bama Arkansas Lost to Oklahoma state and is still considered a quality win for SEC teams. I’m not claiming SEC bias, I posted my top 12 and I have Georgia, Alabama and Texas over Indiana and Penn st. But you guys have complained about the Big Ten bubble rightfully so every week and the SEC is in almost as bad a bubble. Indiana has the weakest schedule in the big ten by design. If I’m not mistaken when the new teams came in they decided the protected rivals and then they took into account the historical performance of the teams to build schedules that would be more fair and level across the league. Indiana had been trapped with Michigan, ohio state, penn state, and Michigan state for the longest. They’ve arguably been the best 5 teams over the last 10-15 years while Purdue got to be in the big ten west. SOS works when you compare it to a teams record. By itself, just tells you if a team had a hard season or not. SOR take it or leave it, I never really look at. Most of the time if you're a bad team in a good conference (Mississippi St) you could have a really high SOS (St ranked 3) and a really low SOR (St ranked 102). The reason a bunch of you have 2 losses, isn't because of your delusional idea of past years, its because you guys don't have a dominant team this year, and the big ten is winning the whole damn thing, Oregon, Buckeyes or my Nittany Lions!@! My Nittany Lions 🦁 players and coaches don't make the schedule, we are dealt the schedule we are dealt!!!! Tired of hearing this bullshit, especially since SEC teams are dropping like flies and their excuse is they are all so damn elite blah blah blah!!!! No, truth is, the SEC is still great, but no dominant team this year!!! And, the big ten is winning the whole damn thing this year, Oregon, Buckeyes, or my Nittany Lions 🦁!!! 🦁

Nick Saban said last Saturday, Texas has the best defense in the SEC. By Far according to the stats. This will play out in the next two weeks. KY at Texas, then Texas at A&M. Then the conference championship. If I had to pick today, Oregon and Ole Miss are the best two teams. So Texas after Georgia, at 5 or 6 is fine. Its still all fluid. Thanks guys! 🤘🤘
