There are some who went to a traditional college and also feel like they haven’t learn a thing, like those who complain about PUG.. online degree isn’t for everyone. It’s a lot of self teaching and self motivation. Just like you mentioned, it’s the person that makes the degree not the other way around. I think Purdue has a VERY long way to go to fix the Kaplan "For Profit" situation. Their Graduation rate is low, but the Withdrawal and Transfer rates are very high. So people are leaving PUG en masse. Sad thing is, when you graduate, you do not get a Purdue University Diploma, But a PUG Diploma. Other schools, when you complete their online programs offer the same Diploma as in resident student receives. Also the very low income prospects for PUG graduates means a very very low ROI for PUG students...

I'm really on the fence with Purdue Global (not a student yet), from the little of what I can gather around the internet it seems like a great university with great programs but then there are quite a bit of students online that say they were displeased with them to say the least. Also there is that one article that says Purdue Global is in some sort of debt they may not be able to repay so that doesn't help my decision making. As an international student from a place where the whole concept of online degrees is kind of unheard of I really need that highly respected name for the chance anyone here will recognize it even if its just the "global" or online branch (which even then like stated in the video some say its at a lower level than a traditional Purdue degree)

@EliseBeautyInc4 ай бұрын
@@dominiqued.4114 I have absolutely no complaints. I am in ExcelTrack, and in less than a month I went from 89 credits (transferred from another college), to 140 credits. I put about 8 hours a day into my classes though. Nonetheless, I will graduate with my bachelor’s in one more month maximum. Purdue Global only offers one master’s degree in ExcelTrack, but they do have others in traditional format. My advisor Yolanda is in constant contact with me and answers my questions very promptly. When it comes to ExcelTrack it is extremely extremely writing intensive. Writing is all you do, and if they paper is not borderline perfect, they will send it back to you. There is no grade lower than a “B” in ExcelTrack, with the exception of if by the end of the quarter you either did not resubmit assignments or did not submit assignments at all, then you will receive an “F”. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, but again, my achievements are due to the ridiculous hours I am putting in. I say go for it! Another option is WGU. All of their programs are comparable to ExcelTrack in that it is mostly competency based and working at your own pace. Some of the master’s programs can be complete in less than a year for students that already have a bachelor’s degree. On their website they note how long it takes the average person to complete the program. As with PGU, you pay one flat fee every quarter and you can take as many classes as you are able to handle.

Purdue the residential campus bought Purdue Online. They are not the same school, but they are indeed related
@wombat-ut4hl5 ай бұрын
@@CollegeHacked The Purdue University system has about five campuses. The main Purdue, the one that is ranked #43, is by far the largest and most important. But for example, Purdue University Northwest's mascot is the Lions, not the Boilermakers. They are different universities in the same system. Purdue University Global is like that, part of the Purdue system, not part of the #43 Purdue itself. The UNC-Chapel Hill / UNC-Pembroke analogy isn't perfect because the Purdue system is smaller than the UNC system and more built around the main campus. Maybe a better analogy would be LSU-Baton Rouge vs LSU-Shreveport. But for instance, if you are accepted to PUG, you can't decide to instead take all of your classes on the Purdue campus as an in-person student. You would need to apply to Purdue and be accepted. Also, the degree requirements are different - I don't mean just a difference in format or possibly difficulty, they are actually different classes. They are accredited as separate universities. The chancellor of Purdue is not the chancellor of Purdue University Global. They are different people in different jobs. Etc. In other words, it is not like Penn State where their Global campus is the same Penn State with a different delivery format. It is literally a different (albeit related in the sense of being part of the same system) university. Someone who goes to LSU-Shreveport and simply lists it as "LSU" on their resume, or someone who goes to UNC-Pembroke and simply lists it as "UNC", or someone who goes to PUG and simply lists it as "Purdue" ... or in some other way tries to pass of the actual university attended with the more prestigious related university (eg during the interview refers to "when I was a student at Purdue" in a deceptive way) ... is playing with fire.

@@wombat-ut4hlHi, I was interested in Purdue, basically for the price andd facilities. But you've mentioned that its not the same university online that on campus. So, PennState it is, cause I was considering both of them. What do you think? Cause PennState also has a good ranking in university rankings? Would my diploma be the same as on campus?
@wombat-ut4hl2 ай бұрын
@@aminadabcruz With Penn State, yes, your diploma would be the same. Admissions requirements are also the same (more stringent than Purdue Global). And, tuition costs are a lot different than Purdue Global. Just be aware of all of that. It depends what your goals and budget are. Penn State is a great school, as is Purdue main campus. I'm not saying Purdue Global isn't the right choice for anybody. Just that I personally don't prefer it, because I think its main value is based on knowing people will misunderstand the name. I don't like the idea of how different the perception might be, with someone who doesn't know the difference thinking I went to a rigorous school, someone who does know the difference knowing what it really is, and someone who went to Purdue main campus maybe having a scornful or angry reaction. I wouldn't want to always be explaining it or unsure how it's perceived. I really think the Purdue system should have given this more thought, because nationally, it's pretty unknown that Purdue is a system and not a single. university. It even fooled this channel initially. I don't know the Indiana public university politics enough to know why they didn't make it Indiana University Global Campus. That would be more clear, since everybody understands that Indiana University is a system with multiple campuses. If you like the cost and general structure of Purdue Global, I would look at options such as the University of Maine at Presque Isle. That is a real state university campus, though not the flagship campus, as the name makes obvious. Just my opinion! Good luck.

Good quality programs, and they accept 90 credits of transfer, but they are barely hackable. No Sophie/Study accepted, so not hackable in our book.

Holy $hi+, ßitch€$!!! Cliff finally reviewed PUG! :D In seriousness though, when I was giving them a look-over, I wasn’t crazy about the fact that they have IT degrees in general, yet also no dedicated CS degrees (something that both WGU and TESU offer, the former now also featuring ABET program accreditation). Still, boss uploading! :D

We would love for them to add CS 🙏🏼

Listen go to course hero and download assignments from different Universities and compare them; Purdue Global is par with them; all Universities use similar resources in IT classes; for example when I was doing research I used to find material from different Universities; similar to the one we were learning in Purdue Global; don't let these losers discourage you; they are jealous that we have plenty of options online and they are attending regular Campus, wasting gas and paying for books.

what about their nursing program?
@malcolmjelani35889 ай бұрын
looks like it could turn out cheaper than wgu if done right. i imagine it depends on the nursing degree specialty, if it's master level or bachelor's, and the number of credits you can transfer it.
@RabbiJesus9 ай бұрын
If it is not regionally accredited it probably wont be useful for nursing.

Just added it to the list. We’ve had a number of people ask for it now, and they do have great transfer charts and articulation agreements. It looks like a good option from my cursory glance.

Is it that they don’t care? Or is it you can’t afford the tuition? I’m quite sure it’s the latter….
@onlycheeseplease5 ай бұрын
@@JuniperMoonshine I've been a student with them for years now the tuition is actually on the lower side compared to other colleges I've gone to so your point of 'youre mad cause youre poor' makes no sense, the problem I have with this school is that I am constantly working, I still make time for school work but a lot of the time i cant get the work done within their time range causing my gpa to lower, this is honestly my own fault and at this time of writing this I was at my peak struggle to balance my academic and work life, the reason I never responded to CollegeHacked was because I was writing that post out of anger and nothing more. Now to answer your question, its neither and even if it were the latter do you honestly think its appropriate to make fun of someone for struggling financially? To anyone in the future reading this wanting to attended Purdue Global and are struggling financially, don't listen to this clown, talk to them they will be more then happy to help you enroll.

This real Purdue Univeristy Graduate; 1990 BS: Financial Planning, thinks PUG sucks! After being admitted with a rediculously easy admission which has little if any standards I took 1 Graduate level Writting Class in a Masters Program in Computer & Information Technology. Terrible experience which I will NEVER repeat. I thought it was part of actual Purdue University when I applied, but didn't take long before I realized it was really Kaplan. Not only should Purdue Univerist not purchased Kaplan for $1 I've been encouraging the Univeristy to cut it's losses and get rid of Global; which claims it's NOT part of Purdue University. Feel free to check. Even though Purdue University owns us Purdue Global claims they are a separate entity and Purdue Univerisity does not and cannot tell Purdue Global what to do! Again, feel free to check. This Purdue Graduate wishes I had never has anything to do with Global! Total rip off and con job.

@@CollegeHacked PUG was created as a political stunt by the former system president/ former IN governor (Mitch Daniels). Purdue faculty opposed the school, and the University Senate voted against it. PUG has been a financial and academic failure. Purposeful confusion between the two schools harms legitimate Purdue students. Their hard work is sullied by this failed cash grab.
